This article presents the current state of air pollution caused by energy consumption and transportation in all European countries. The EU has set itself targets for reducing its greenhouse gas emissions progressively up to 2050. For 2020 the EU has committed to cutting its emissions to 20%, comparing with 1990 levels. This study aims to show the progress on the reduction of greenhouse gases emissions (CH4, CO2 and N2O) in Europe due to transportation and energy consumption. and to present the countries that lowered their emission level, showing the effects of environmental EU directives.
