A new species, Filsoniana lhasanensis, is described from Tibet, China, where it grows on rocks at altitudes 4200–4432 m. The lichen is characterised by a poorly developed or absent dark orange areolate thallus, lecanorine to zeorine orange to deep-orange aggregated apothecia, and richly branched and anastomosed paraphyses. DNA was obtained for three gene loci—nuclear internal transcribed spacer (ITS), nuclear large subunit (LSU), and mitochondrial small subunit (SSU). Phylogenetic analyses support the taxon as a new species of Filsoniana .
In an investigation of Circinaria species in volcanic mountains of northeast China, one new species, C. laxilobata was identified based on morphological characteristics and DNA sequence data. The new species differs morphologically from other members of the C. contorta group by its greenish olive, thin thallus with dispersed areoles and elongated, diverging, branching marginal areoles distinctly delimited from the inner part, round apothecia with entire thalline margin, moniliform paraphyses, asci with 1-2 ellipsoid spores, and the absence of secondary metabolites. Comparisons of the ITS sequences of the nuclear ribosomal DNA repeat tandem, both in phylogenetic analyses and secondary structure models of ITS2, support the taxonomic distinctness of this species. The new species is described and illustrated in detail. A key to the species of Circinaria from China is also provided.
Based on molecular data, a new species, Myriolecis altunica, is described, and Lecanora caesioalutacea is placed in the genus Myriolecis (Lecanoraceae, Ascomycota). Myriolecis altunica is characterized by having a continuous, ashy brown thallus, with lobulate margins, apothecia with blackish disc and margin, with the disc whitish pruinose, and the absence of secondary substances. Myriolecis caesioalutacea has an ashy gray thallus and heavily pruinose, almost white apothecia, and contains xanthones (2,7-dichlorlichexanthone). The species was first reported as Lecanora caesioalutacea H.Magn. from Gansu, China, but is here shown to belong in the genus Myriolecis. Phylogenetic analyses based on ITS separately and on a 6-locus combined analysis (ITS, LSU, mtSSU, RPB1, RPB2, MCM7) both support placement of these two species in Myriolecis. The taxa are described and illustrated, and their distribution and ecology are briefly discussed.
Diploschistes tianshanensis is described as a new species, found on rotten wood with mosses and other lichens (Cladonia sp.) in an arid region of Northwestern China. The new fungus, which is diagnosed by urceolate ascomata and large ascospores, resembles D. gypsaceus but is readily distinguished by its epruinose thallus surface. ITS rDNA sequence analyses support the taxon as a distinct species. The description of D. tianshanensis is accompanied by notes on its chemistry, distribution and ecology, and comparison with related species.
A new species of Sarcogyne in the badiofusca group is described from northwest China. It differs from Acarospora badiofusca in having an algal layer interrupted by wide hyphal bands.
Aspicilia volcanica from Heilongjiang in Northeast China is described as new to science. The species is characterized by the thin grayish olive thallus, moniliform branched anastomosing paraphyses, and the presence of stictic and hypostictic acids. It grows on volcanic rock in temperate region. ITS nrDNA sequence analysis supports the taxonomic distinctness of this species.

NADP+-dependent isocitrate dehydrogenase from Yarrowia lipolytica CLIB122 (YlIDP) was overexpressed and purified. The molecular mass of YlIDP was estimated to be about 81.3 kDa, suggesting its homodimeric structure in solution. YlIDP was divalent cation dependent and Mg2+ was found to be the most favorable cofactor. The purified recombinant YlIDP displayed maximal activity at 55 °C and its optimal pH for catalysis was found to be around 8.5. Heat inactivation studies revealed that the recombinant YlIDP was stable below 45 °C, but its activity dropped quickly above this temperature. YlIDP was absolutely dependent on NADP+ and no NAD-dependent activity could be detected. The K m values displayed for NADP+ and isocitrate were 59 and 31 μM (Mg2+), 120 μM and 58 μM (Mn2+), respectively. Mutant enzymes were constructed to tentatively alter the coenzyme specificity of YlIDP. The K m values for NADP+ of R322D mutant was 2,410 μM, being about 41-fold higher than that of wild type enzyme. NAD+-dependent activity was detected for R322D mutant and the K m and k cat values for NAD+ were 47,000 μM and 0.38 s−1, respectively. Although the R322D mutant showed low activity with NAD+, it revealed the feasibility of engineering an eukaryotic IDP to a NAD+-dependent one.
Objective:In order to better understand the heavy metal absorption and accumulation ability of lichen species Phaeophyscia ciliata(Hoffm.) were transplanted and suspended at 7 different sites in Urumqi and its utilization value for the air quality assessment was analyzed.Method:The lichen samples were collected from Bayi forest farm and transplanted seven different cites in Urumqi city.The level of eight heavy metals in Phaeophyscia ciliata(Hoffm.) were determined by atomic absorption spectrometry.Result:The results showed that the average contents of investigated heavy metals in lichen samples were obviously increased with increasing the exposure time.The changes of heavy metals content in lichens have spatial(ANOVA∶ F= 17.42,P0.05) and temporal(ANOVA∶ F= 32.12,P0.05) differences characteristics.Conclusion:The present study provided evidence that the lichen Phaeophyscia ciliata(Hoffm.) had perfect absorption and bioaccumulation capacity to heavy metals;it was sensitive to air pollution and was suitable to be applied as bio-indicator of air pollution.

Caloplaca tianshanensis is described as a species new to science. It has a crustose and areolate thallus of yellowish-brown color with conspicuous cracks, bearing dark brown to black apothecia. An analysis of ITS sequences supports the affinity of the new species to subgenus Pyrenodesmia .
