Two indicators of the fluorescein type have been prepared and their spectral properties studied. Both indicators contain two of the same xanthyl groups that occur in fluorescein, and two carboxyl groups. Their fluorescent efficiencies have been determined by a comparison with fluorescein and an attempt has been made to explain differences between them.
