Objective. The article presents various forms of interaction between Academician E.A Vagner Perm State Medical University and authorities and institutions of healthcare as well as Rospotrebnadzor to ensure practical orientation of the educational process at the undergra-duate and postgraduate levels of training the discipline "Epidemiology". Materials and methods. The most significant directions of educational process are described, which allow students to acquire the necessary skills and abilities for future professional activities. Results. Practical training permits to form a number of universal and general professional competences among students. Conclusions. Involvement of highly qualified specialists of practical healthcare and Rospotrebnadzor in educational process allows making the learning process not only fascinating and informative, but also improves the quality of training students.
The paper presents historical stages in the development of the Department of Epidemiology and Hygiene of E.A. Vagner Perm State Medical University. The evolution of technologies, forms and methods used in educational process are described. There are formulated the directions of activity of the department and the experience of work with organs and institutions of public health and Rospotrebnadzor.
Despite all significant efforts being made by the public healthcare, state authorities, and public organizations, HIV-infection has been a topical issue over the last 30 years. Commercial sex workers (CSW) are a basic risk group when it comes down to this infection. Our research goal was to determine HIV prevalence among commercial sex workers and risk factors that cause their contagion with it. We performed an epidemiologic analytical ecologic examination to study HIV prevalence risk factors that cause spread of this infection among CSW. 154 CSW were questioned with a sociological procedure applied to do it; they lived in three cities in Perm region, and morbidity with HIV was higher than on average in the region in two of them, B. and K. The city P. was taken as a reference territory due to a relatively favorable situation with HIV infection spread there. Risk factors that caused HIV infection were determined via an observational analytical case-control study; the «case» group was made up of 46 CSW who were infected with HIV and the control group included 108 CSW who didn’t have this infection. All the obtained data were statistically processed with SPSS Statistics 17.0 and Statistica 6.0 software packages. HIV prevalence among commercial sex workers was rather different on the examined territories. It amounted to 42.6% and 35.0% in cities B. and K. and it was 2.3 and 1.9 times higher accordingly than in city P. It was detected that there were several factors making for HIV infection spread among CSW; they were high morbidity with HIV on a given territory; an early start of sexual life; disregard of contraception; drug abuse; medical services and prevention programs being hardly available to CSW. A high probability that CSW would get infected with HIV was determined for people who didn’t use condoms, took drugs intravenously, and were not epidemiologically alerted to HIV infection.

Low reactogenicity, high safety profile and immunogenicity of the Flu-M vaccine were determined.

AIM:Justification of the use of immune chromatographic analysis for diagnostic of pneumococcal pneumonia.MATERIALS AND METHODS:Sensitivity and specificity of an immune chromatographic method (Binax Now test system) was studied for verification of pneumococcal pneumonia. Approbation of this method for etiologic deciphering of pneumonia in 260 patients hospitalized in infectious hospital was carried out.RESULTS:A high sensitivity (84.8%) and specificity (90.5%) of the chromatography test was established. Streptococcus pneumoniae antigen in urine of patients with community acquired pneumonia was determined 3.6 times more frequently when immune chromatographic test was used compared with bacteriological study of nasopharyngeal swab and 1.8 times more frequently compared with sputum bacteriological study.CONCLUSION:Application of immune chromatographic express test Binax Now could be recommended for timely verification of pneumococcal pneumonia along with bacteriological methods of study.
The article presents results of a prospective randomized study of reactogenicity, safety and immunogenicity of the polysaccharide pneumococcal vaccine "Pneumo 23" in the group of medical workers. The vaccine was characterized by the high profile of safety (absence of clinical symptoms of allergy, changes in blood and urine), low reactogenicity and sufficient immunogenicity.
Streptococcus pneumonia – one of the reasons for the appearance of complications from influenza and acute respiratory diseases, occurring with a lesion of ENT organs and respiratory system. In this regard, there is a substantial need for the use of additional methods of laboratory testing for verification of pathogen. Diagnostics of complications from respiratory diseases caused by pneumococcal flora has been carried out by immunochromatographic assay. Microbiological examination revealed the pneumococcal etiology of complications only in 14,0% of cases, but verification of diagnosis by detection of Streptococcus pneumonia antigen in the urine in 29,8%.
At present, the problem of vaccination of HIV-infected patients from pneumococcal disease is still poorly studied. There is no consensus on the effectiveness of immunization, the appropriateness and timing of revaccination. The aim of the study was to examine the duration and power of post-vaccination pneumococcal immunity in HIV-infected adult patients. A prospective comparative randomized study was performed, 100 HIV-infected patients were vaccinated with a polysaccharide 23-valent pneumococcal vaccine. Comparison group was consisted of 100 cases, not vaccinated against pneumococcal infection. For detection of the power of immunity through 2 years blood serum level of IgG antibodies to a mixture ofpolysaccharides (SP) S. pneumoniae incorporated in the vaccine were determined, the comparison of the incidence of acute respiratory infections, pneumonia and bronchitis was carried out, and their etiological transcript with the help of bacteriological examination of sputum was performed. The obtained results indicate to the powerful post-vaccination immunity with the high level of seroprotection and significant preventive effect through two years after vaccination.
