Strobilanthes lawsonii was described by Gamble based on a collection made from Sispara Ghat of Nilgiri District, Tamil Nadu. Later researchers reported its distribution in Kerala, and S. gamblei and S. pushpangadanii, two endemic species of the Western Ghats, were synonymised with S. lawsonii during the genus revision in southern India in 2006. During a recent expedition to Muthikulam forest of Palakkad, Kerala the authors collected typical S. lawsonii. After comparing the new collections with S. gamblei and S. pushpangadanii, it was found that both taxa are distinct from S. lawsonii, with the most notable morphological differences being partially fused corolla lobes and exserted stamens. A detailed comparison of the three taxa is provided here, along with color photographs and a taxonomic key for easy species identification.
Background of the Study: Sleep plays a vital role in good health and well-being throughout your life. Getting enough quality sleep at the right times can help protect your mental health, physical health, quality of life, and safety. During sleep, your body is working to support healthy brain function and maintain your physical health. Research also suggests that sleep deprivation makes us more stressed, irritable and we react negatively to minor annoyances and interruptions. Methodology: A pre experimental research design is used in this study as there is a need to conduct generalized assessment of the knowledge of staff nurses regarding shift work disorder and its management. The conceptual framework used for this study is based on Imogen king’s Goal Attainment model. A pre experimental research design is used in this study. Sample in this study were selected by using purposive Non-Probability sampling technique. Structured teaching programme was given to the staff nurses. The data was collected to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching programme to assess the level of knowledge of staff nurses regarding shift work disorder and its management. The data was collected using a Questionnaire for knowledge level and analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Conclusion: The results show that the Staff Nurses knowledge level improved after implementation of the structured teaching Programme on shift work disorder and its management. The study indicates that the Stp is an effective method in improving moderate to adequate level of knowledge regarding health topics to the present day society where much attention is given to health promotion rather than treating the disease after acquiring it.
Gallstone disease is one of the most prevalence gastrointestinal disease with a substantial burden to health care system. Cholelithiasis form because of many different disorder. Gallbladder stone is a chronic recurrent hepatobiliary disease the basis of which is characterized by the formation of the gallstone in the hepatic bile duct and common bile duct. Gallbladder disease worldwide is strongly associated to have caused considerable economic impact. In the United State there are more than 500000 cholecystectomy cases per year. 10–15% of adults have gallstones rates in many part of India. Gallbladder and biliary related disease occur in about 10 million people as of 2013 out of which 106000 comprise of women population as compare to that of men and they occur more commonly after the age of 40 years. The aim of the study is to assess the level of knowledge regarding life style modification of cholelithiasis. Descriptive survey research approach was used to conduct this study. The convenient sampling was used for 100 patients and caregivers admitted in surgical ward. Knowledge was measured by structured questionnaire. The data collected were analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The following conclusion were drawn from the study. The patient had moderate knowledge regarding the life style modification of cholelithiasis.
Aims:A study to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching program on level of knowledge regarding complications of subcutaneous LMWH injection and effect of cold application among B.Sc. Nursing 2nd year students at SGRRU, College of Nursing, Patel Nagar, Dehradun. Objectives: 1. To assess the level of knowledge regarding complications of subcutaneous LMWH injection and effect of cold application among B.sc Nursing 2nd year students. 2. To evaluate the effectiveness of structured teaching program on level of knowledge regarding complications of subcutaneous LMWH injection and effect of cold application among B.Sc. Nursing 2nd year students. 3. To associate the level of knowledge score regarding complications of subcutaneous LMWH injection and effect of cold application among B.sc Nursing 2nd year students with their selected demographic variables. Methodology: A quantitative pre-experimental research design is used in this study as there is a need to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching program on level of knowledge regarding complications of subcutaneous LMWH injection and effect of cold application among B.Sc. Nursing 2nd year students at SGRRU, College of Nursing, Patel Nagar, Dehradun. The conceptual framework used for this study is based on system theory developed by Ludwig Von Bertalanffy. A quantitative pre-experimental research design is used in this study. Sample in this study were selected by using convenience sampling technique. structured teaching programme was given to the B.Sc. Nursing 2nd year students at SGRRU, College of Nursing. The data was collected to assess the effectiveness of structured teaching program on complications of subcutaneous LMWH injection and effect of cold application among B.Sc. Nursing 2nd year students. The data was collected using the self- structured questionnaire and analysed using descriptive and inferential statistics. Results: Major Findings of the Study: 1. Based on gender, 85.7% of the respondents were females. 2. 54.3% of the respondents came from to urban area. 3. Majority (71.4%) of the respondents had not witnessed a patient with LMWH injection 4. Majority (82.9%) of respondent had not ever administered heparin injection 5. Majority of the respondents (71.4%) had undergone any education training programme on effect of cold application. 6. Majority of the respondents (71.4%) had undergone any education training programme on effect of cold application. 7. Majority of the respondents (72.9%) had knowledge regarding complications of subcutaneous LMWH injection and effect of cold application. 8. The post-test mean level of knowledge score (73.625%) was found higher when compared with pre-test mean level of knowledge score (45.675%). The statistical paired t test indicates that enhancement in the mean level of knowledge scores found to be significant at 0.001 percent level of significance. 9. The association between mean percentage level of knowledge score and demographic variables were computed by using Chi-square test. 10. The finding shows that there was no significant association between any demographic variables. Conclusion: The findings of the study proved that students level of knowledge about complications of subcutaneous LMWH injection and effect of cold application was inadequate and the structured teaching programme on complications of subcutaneous LMWH injection and effect of cold application was effective in improving the level of knowledge students regarding complications of subcutaneous LMWH injection and effect of cold application.
