We included peer-reviewed observational studies evaluating the link between cannabis consumption and the risk of asthma diagnosis. BACKGROUND:Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality globally, particularly in low- and middle-income countries like India. This study aims to analyze regional trends and project future burden of COPD in India using data from the Global Burden of Disease (GBD) 1990-2021. METHODS:This analysis utilized data from the GBD study to assess age-standardized prevalence (ASPR), incidence (ASIR), disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) (ASDR), and mortality rates (ASMR) for COPD across Indian states. Joinpoint regression was used to analyze temporal trends, while ARIMA models predicted future incidence rates. RESULTS:In 2021, the highest ASIR was observed in Rajasthan at 306.28, and the highest ASMR was observed in Uttarakhand at 227.19. Projections suggest that the ASIR for COPD in India will decrease from 265.16 in 2022 to 258.19 by 2031. The heatmap analysis identified states like Uttarakhand and Rajasthan as having the highest DALYs attributable to COPD risk factors, including air pollution and tobacco use. CONCLUSION:COPD remains a public health challenge in India, with regional variability. Targeted interventions addressing air pollution, smoking cessation, and improved healthcare access are essential to mitigate the disease's future burden, particularly in high-risk regions.

Mpox, formerly known as monkeypox, has re-emerged as a significant global health concern, particularly during the widespread outbreak of 2022. As an orthopoxvirus related to the eradicated smallpox virus, mpox has been primarily managed with smallpox vaccines and treatments, including the antiviral agent Tecovirimat. This systematic review aims to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of Tecovirimat in treating mpox, focusing on its use during the 2022 outbreak, especially among high-risk populations, including men who have sex with men and people living with HIV. We conducted a comprehensive search across databases, such as Embase, PubMed, and Web of Science, up to August 30, 2024. The selection involved a two-stage review process utilizing the Nested Knowledge platform, which helped streamline the screening and data extraction. We included studies that focused on the clinical efficacy and safety of Tecovirimat in human patients with confirmed mpox infections. Our analysis mainly synthesized data narratively due to the heterogeneity of study designs and outcomes. Fifteen studies met the inclusion criteria, providing data on 1031 mpox cases. The preliminary analysis of the PALM 007 RCT indicated that tecovirimat did not significantly outperform placebo in lesion resolution for all patients. Lesions healed faster than expected, regardless of tecovirimat or placebo treatment. A lower mortality rate of 1.7% among those enrolled in the PALM 007 RCT was observed, compared to the general mpox mortality rate of 3.6% or higher in the DRC. Observational studies revealed that early administration of Tecovirimat, especially within the first week of symptom onset, significantly improves symptom resolution, reduces the severity of the disease, and decreases the likelihood of hospitalization and complications in observational studies. However, the impact on viral clearance was inconsistent, and some studies suggested limited efficacy in severely immunocompromised patients. Regarding safety, Tecovirimat was generally well-tolerated as indicated by the RCT; however, mild adverse effects such as fatigue, headache, and nausea were commonly reported among observational studies. Serious adverse events were rare but included elevated liver enzymes and psychiatric symptoms, particularly in patients with pre-existing conditions. Tecovirimat demonstrates some potential benefits in treating mpox, particularly when administered early. The PALM 007 RCT failed to meet the efficacy point. Tecovirimat is generally well-tolerated with a favorable safety profile, although monitoring is advisable for those with existing liver or renal conditions. Despite promising results, further large-scale randomized controlled trials are needed to fully ascertain the drug's effectiveness across diverse populations and to explore its impact on viral clearance and transmission dynamics.
This research examines the production, characteristics, and possible uses of biodegradable polymer nanocomposites in the field of sustainable agriculture. By doing a thorough examination of the experimental data, significant discoveries have been clarified. The composition analysis showed differences in polymer type and nanofiller amount across various nanocomposites. The nanocomposites based on PLA had the greatest polymer content, followed by PHA, PBS, and PCL. Comparative mechanical testing revealed that PBS-based nanocomposites had greater tensile strength, Young’s modulus, and elongation at break when compared to other polymers. An investigation of degradation rates showed that the nanocomposites had different levels of biodegradability. The nanocomposites based on PCL had the slowest degradation rates, while the ones based on PLA had the greatest degradation rates. In addition, the nutrient release data showed variations in the rates at which nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium were released. The nanocomposites based on PBS demonstrated effective delivery of nutrients to plants. The results emphasize the promise of biodegradable polymer nanocomposites as adaptable materials for sustainable agricultural applications, such as mulching films, seed coatings, controlled-release fertilizers, and soil supplements. Potential areas for future study including enhancing production techniques, investigating innovative nanofillers, and assessing the performance of nanocomposites in real-world scenarios. Biodegradable polymer nanocomposites have the potential to enhance sustainable agricultural practices and support environmental stewardship in food production via multidisciplinary cooperation and innovation.
This study delves into the application of CNNs and DT to classify prominent French bean varieties in India, including Selection-9, Pusa Parvati, and Arka Suvidha. A vast assortment of almost eight thousand carefully chosen high-resolution photos illustrating different stages of development, lighting arrangements, and viewpoints. The study’s overarching goal is to create a reliable classification system that can autonomously extract meaningful information from photos using CNN and visually distinguish between different varieties of beans using DT. With an overall accuracy of 98.7 percent, the model proved it was expert at correctly classifying the three French bean kinds according to their outward look. measures like accuracy, recall, and F1 score were used to evaluate the model’s performance. These measures revealed the model’s strengths for each group. Specifically, they shed light on its ability to classify different items. On top of that, the Misclassifications were exposed by the Confusion Matrix. The results of this investigation showed where the model could use some improvements. By developing a computational tool for the accurate classification of numerous French bean varieties, this work improves agricultural practices. People living with HIV (PLWH) are more vulnerable to infectious and non-infectious comorbidities due to chronic inflammation and immune dysfunction. Air pollution is a major global health risk, contributing to millions of deaths annually, primarily from cardiovascular and respiratory diseases. However, the link between air pollution and mortality risk in PLWH is underexplored. This systematic review assesses the association between exposure to pollutants such as particulate matter (PM), nitrogen dioxide (NO2), sulfur dioxide (SO2), ozone (O3), and carbon monoxide (CO) and mortality risk in PLWH. A systematic search of PubMed, Web of Science, and Embase was conducted for studies published up to August 2024. Eligibility criteria included cohort, case-control, and cross-sectional studies assessing air pollution exposure and mortality in PLWH. Nested-Knowledge software was used for screening and data extraction. The Newcastle-Ottawa Scale was applied for quality assessment. A narrative approach and tabular summarization were used for data synthesis and presentation. Nine studies, mostly from China, demonstrated a significant association between long-term exposure to PM1, PM2.5, and PM10 and increased risks of AIDS-related and all-cause mortality in PLWH. Hazard ratios for mortality increased by 2.38–5.13
Objectives:Integrating digital technology into daily life has made video games a primary form of entertainment for adolescents worldwide. Despite their benefits, excessive gaming has emerged as a significant public health issue, recognized as a gaming disorder by the World Health Organization in the ICD-11. This study aims to assess the prevalence of gaming disorders among adolescents through a systematic review and meta-analysis. Study design:Systematic review and meta-analysis. Methods:A search was conducted across multiple databases until February 15, 2024. Observational studies that assessed the prevalence of gaming disorder were included. Nested Knowledge software was used for screening and data extraction. The quality assessment was performed using the Joanna Briggs Institute tool. Meta-analysis using a random effect model was used to synthesize prevalence rates. Statistical analyses were performed in R software version 4.3. Results:The meta-analysis included 84 studies covering a diverse geographical scope totaling 641,763 individuals. The pooled prevalence of gaming disorder was 8.6 % (95 % CI: 6.9 %-10.8 %), (I2 = 100 %). Subgroup analysis revealed varying prevalence rates by country, with China reporting the highest rate at 11.7 % (95 % CI: 8.6 %-15.7 %). Meta-regression analysis highlighted an increasing trend in the prevalence of gaming disorder over the years, underscoring the growing impact of digital technologies. Conclusion:A significant prevalence of gaming disorder among adolescents is observed. With an increasing trend, fostering healthy gaming habits, enhancing awareness, and implementing effective intervention programs are crucial. This emphasizes the importance of global efforts in combating the growing challenge of gaming disorder among adolescents.
In order to assess the energy efficiency of building activities in real-time, this research offers a data-driven methodology. Efficiently managing building energy usage while minimizing negative effects on the environment is the focus of this study. Using a large dataset that includes efficiency ratings obtained from sophisticated analytics and continuous monitoring, as well as specific energy consumption (SEC) measurements, our study reveals intricate patterns in energy use. Reducing energy consumption by 15% during peak hours is possible with the use of predictive modeling tools, which show the possibility of proactive actions. With dynamic modifications resulting in a 20% reduction in total energy use, there are substantial benefits to implementing adaptive techniques based on real-time data. The method’s dependability is confirmed by comparing it to industry-standard standards, which highlights how strong the real-time evaluation system is. Building managers may benefit greatly from this research’s findings on energy efficiency, which will help to create more sustainable and financially feasible building systems.
BACKGROUND:Fistulas, abnormal connections between two anatomical structures, significantly impact the quality of life and can result from a variety of causes, including congenital defects, inflammatory conditions, and surgical complications. Stem cell therapy has emerged as a promising alternative due to its potential for regenerative and immunomodulatory effects. This overview of systematic reviews aimed to assess the safety and efficacy of stem cell therapy in managing fistulas, drawing on the evidence available. METHODS:This umbrella review was conducted following the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) methodology to assess the efficacy and safety of stem cell therapy for treating various types of fistulas. A comprehensive search was performed across multiple electronic databases including PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Register, and Web of Science up to 5 May 2024. Systematic reviews focusing on stem cell therapy for fistulas were included, with data extracted on study design, stem cell types, administration methods, and outcomes. The quality of the reviews was assessed using the AMSTAR 2 tool, and meta-analyses were conducted using R software version 4.3. RESULTS:Nineteen systematic reviews were included in our umbrella review. The stem cell therapy demonstrated by significant improvements in clinical remission rates, with a relative risk (RR) of 1.299 (95% CI: 1.192-1.420). Stem cell therapy enhanced fistula closure rates, both short-term (RR=1.481; 95% CI: 1.036-2.116) and long-term (RR=1.422; 95% CI: 1.091-1.854). The safety analysis revealed no significant increase in the risk of adverse events with stem cell therapy, showing a pooled RR of 0.972 (95% CI: 0.739-1.278) for general adverse events and 1.136 (95% CI: 0.821-1.572) for serious adverse events, both of which indicate a safety profile comparable to control treatments. Re-epithelialization rates also improved (RR=1.44; 95% CI: 1.322-1.572). CONCLUSION:Stem cell therapy shows promise as an effective and safe treatment for fistulas, particularly in inducing remission and promoting closure of complex fistulas. The findings advocate for further high-quality research to confirm these benefits and potentially incorporate stem cell therapy into standard clinical practice for fistula management. Future studies should focus on long-term outcomes and refining stem cell treatment protocols to optimize therapeutic efficacy.

Studies that met the inclusion criteria randomized controlled trials, cohort studies, case–control studies, and observational studies assessing the incidence of prostate cancer in GLP-1 RA-treated patients were included. The quality of studies was evaluated using the Newcastle–Ottawa Scale and the Cochrane Risk of Bias tool. Meta-analysis was performed using a random effects model. A total of five studies were included, analyzing data from diverse international contexts. This systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to determine the overall prevalence of dual use of tobacco smoking and e-cigarette use in pregnant women. A literature search was conducted across databases including PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane on October 20, 2023. The included studies reported the number of pregnant women and the count of those who were dual users. Quality assessment was undertaken using the JBI tool. The pooled prevalence of dual use was determined via a random-effects model. All statistical analyses were executed using R software, version 4.3. PROSPERO: CRD42023486020. Ensuring the required microclimate parameters of a cultivation structure, including indoor air temperature, relative humidity, and soil surface temperature, plays a crucial role in obtaining a rich harvest of vegetables and fruits in the winter season. Creating favourable conditions for growing plants in the protected ground is possible only by using modern, high-tech heating systems that will compensate for heat energy losses and maintain a set temperature regime in the room. Gas-fired radiant heating is one such system. This heating method, using ceiling gas infrared emitters as heat sources, directs the required heat flux directly to the soil surface. At the same time, direct or indirect emissions of harmful substances into the environment are minimal, and due to the absence of heat losses during heat production and heat carrier transportation, this type of heating is effective from both energy-saving and economic points of view. The article investigates the influence of meteorological, aerodynamic, heat engineering, and other factors on the air temperature in a cultivation structure under gas-fired radiant heating conditions using a developed software calculation method. An analysis is performed, and explanations are given for the nature of the change in indoor air temperature depending on the changing environmental conditions—the example of the industrial greenhouse “Farmer 7.5” (Russian Federation).
