NEIGHBOURHOOD NOISE POLLUTION IN HOUSING. The discomfort caused by environmental noise in home living space is very frequently observed in our time, its consequences are underestimated. The genesis of this nuisance lies in the poor quality of buildings, which are subject to a series of regulations and obligations that are often not respected, as well as incivism and non-compliance with Public Health Code decrees governing noise emissions from various activities. Physician practitioners or specialists are sometimes solicited by their patients on the repercussions on their health and on the action to be taken to obtain a reduction of this nuisance.
There are many occupational contact dermatitis in bricklayers and wood construction workers. The building and public works sector covers many activities with multiple skin hazards responsible for contact dermatitis due to cement, acids, solvents and paints, various adhesives and glues including epoxy and other very allergenic resins, carcinogenic hydrocarbons, wood dust, vibrations and dust of free silica responsible for scleroderma in stone cutters. The link with the job is based on epidemiological, scientific and clinical data mainly in the workplace with detailed and precise analysis of the work conditions. Bricklayers, carpenters, cabinet makers, asphalt workers, engine drivers and stone masons are concerned. Prevention is essential.

Usually baker's asthma allergens are water soluble fractions of flour and/or added enzymes such as amylase or cellulase. In this study we report a rarer allergen.A 29-year-old white male started working as an industrial baker in 1992. In 1994 he began to complain about chest tightness, coughing and wheezing in the evening, which occurred only on the days he had kneaded a special dough which was used to make fishing bait bread. Twelve times per day he had to weigh 5 kg of wheat flour and 5 kg of gluten and pour these into the kneading trough. Hr noticed that the gluten powder dust caused nose irritation.Skin prick tests and RAST (IgE) were positive for gluten and negative for common inhaled pneumallergens and baking-related allergens. There was no food gluten intolerance.Gluten is the nonwater-soluble part of cereal proteins; its compounds are gliadine (60%) and glutenine (40%). Usually, flours are reinforced with only 0.5 or 1% of gluten which is responsible for the mechanical properties of the dough. On the other hand, fishing bait bread baking requires a high percentage of gluten (50%) in order to obtain a dehydrated and aerated bread which attaches well to the hook. That is why gluten asthma occurred in this specific job.
Attention of authors has been drawn by the observation of patients presenting a nickel-dermatosis, instigating by the touch of jewelry (ear-rings, bracelets, necklaces...) and also a sensitization for housework cleansing agents. The chemical analysis of numerous housework cleansing agents exhibited the constant presence of nickel in these housework cleansings. These investigations enable the authors to affirm a close relationship between sensitization for nickel and sensitization for housework cleansings. Some patients present also sensitization for chromium or cobalt. The authors think this polysensitization is induced by metal's contamination.
