This study examines consumers' willingness to pay a premium (WTPP) for community-based distilled liquor produced from Lanna rice in Northern Thailand. Drawing on the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) and the Stimulus-Organism-Response (SOR) framework as guiding lenses, it analyzes how socioeconomic characteristics, prior experience, perceived product value, and digital engagement relate to premium participation and premium depth. Survey data from 400 respondents (63.25% willing to pay a premium) are analyzed using an ordered probit model with sample selection, jointly modeling the decision to pay a premium and the premium level accepted (5-9%, 10-14%, 15-19%, >= 20%). The results show that education and income increase premium participation, while perceived product value is the main driver of acceptance of higher premium tiers. Generational heterogeneity is evident, with Generation Y displaying a stronger premium orientation and Generation Z showing a lower propensity to accept high premiums. Digital engagement facilitates participation at lower premium levels but constrains acceptance of higher premiums. The findings also highlight a two-stage premium decision process and emphasize the importance of value-based positioning and credibility-focused digital communication in cultural-heritage beverage markets.
The objectives of this research were to examine the effects of an aging society on labor productivity within the Thai longan production sector, as well as to assess the technical efficiency associated with this demographic shift. Data were collected from a sample of 400 longan farmers, employing the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) regression to investigate the relationship between the aging population and labor productivity in longan cultivation. Additionally, the Stochastic Frontier Model (SFM) was utilized to evaluate technical efficiency and its correlation with productivity in the context of an aging society. The findings suggest that the predominant segment of longan production in Thailand is supported by a workforce characterized by an average age of approximately 57 years. By the year 2025, the impact of Thailand’s aging population may result in a significant number of longan farmers ceasing production due to health-related issues and diminished selling prices. Thus, projections indicate a potential decline in both the yield and the area cultivated for longan. Moreover, the transition into an aging society is likely to adversely affect labor productivity in agricultural production. Despite the current high level of technical efficiency in longan production, the aging of farmers is expected to lead to a reduction in overall productivity.
Using participatory Theory of Change and collaborative governance, this study examines Thailand's Bio-Circular-Green Economy model for inclusive development in Chiang Mai's Northern Economic Corridor. We conducted reviews, focus groups, interviews, and SWOT analyses. Twelve initiatives across creative industries, tourism, and agriculture operationalize BCG pillars by valorizing bio-resources and closing loops sustainably. Stakeholders endorsed co-working spaces, smart farming, Super Food research, health incubation, and the THB 50 billion NEC Health and Wellness City flagship. Findings reveal that explicit change frameworks align vision, build social capital, democratize value chains, mitigate tourism shocks, bolster rural livelihoods, and advance SDGs 8, 9, and 11.
This research aims to study the competitiveness of Dog Treats with Crickets of Ban Mae Tad Organic Agriculture Community Enterprise, as well as to develop a community business plan focusing on community involvement for sustainability. The study examines the competitiveness of Dog Treats with Crickets in terms of both objectives and consumption. The study found that Dog Treats with Crickets still have opportunities in the market due to the trend of pet humanization. Regarding consumption, there is a readiness to adapt well to changes. As a result, community enterprise groups have increased distribution channels, leading to higher income, and aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals aimed at eradicating poverty.
This research examines the capacity of cricket-infused dog treats produced by the Organic Farming Commu- nity Enterprise of Ban Mae Tad to establish a competitive advantage and explores the formulation of a sustainable community business model grounded in local engagement. The research aims to assess the product's market po- sition by examining both strategic objectives and consumer behaviour. Findings indicate that consumers are open to adapting to novel products like insect-based treats, especially when they align with trends in sustainability and health. This growing acceptance has encouraged the community enterprise to diversify its distribution channels, en- hancing market accessibility and resulting in increased revenue. This progress supports the broader aim of achiev- ing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly those related to poverty reduction and economic resilience in rural communities. Moreover, the study applied the Probit model to analyse key factors influencing consumer purchase decisions. The model shows that a one-point increase in the average perception score regarding product attributes boosts the probability of purchase by 55.48 percent. Likewise, a one-point rise in the perceived value of price increases the purchase probability by 60.99 percent. Both results are statistically significant, underscoring the importance of product quality and pricing in shaping consumer choices. Overall, the research highlights the potential for integrating sustainable agricultural practices with innovative product devel- opment to enhance local economies. The involvement of the community in business planning ensures long-term viability and aligns with national and global goals for sustainable development and inclusive economic growth.
The objectives of this research were to consider the longan business situation in Thailand during Covid-19 with an aging society, analyze the impact of entering an aging society on e-commerce in Thai Longan business and to analyze the impact of adoption on e-commerce to Longan business during Covid-19. This study is the first primary data which collected from 400 Longan business owners in Thailand by applying the Probit Model and Ordinary Least Square. The Marginal Effect results from the Probit model present that the negative relationship between the age of Longan business owners and the probability of adoption of e-commerce in Longan business, the results from the OLS model found that when the business owner has adopted e-commerce in Longan business, the growth of income during Covid-19 will increase. Thailand confronts the problem of population structure entering an aging society; it is difficult to implement e-commerce in business. The effect led to a decrease in sales as well as leading to problems in the export of longan due to the problem of business successors. As promoting and facilitating by government policies, it can contribute to the more importance of the adoption of e-commerce for longan selling.

There are five main trading partners comprising China, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, and India. The important agricultural commodities of rubber, cassava, fruits, vegetables, and herbs were assessed from 1998 to 2019. In a traditional stochastic frontier model the two error components of symmetric noise ( ν_j ) and a non-negative inefficiency ( u_j ) are assumed to be independent. This may result in invalid inferences due to misspecification. To address this obstacle, copula-based Gravity Stochastic Frontier Models (GSFM) using panel criteria were constructed to estimate trade efficiency. Empirically, the Student-t copula-based SFM minimizes both AIC and BIC. According to their mean TE, China (0.48) and Japan (0.48) had the highest export efficiencies followed by India (0.41), New Zealand (0.39), and Australia (0.33) in rank order. Hence, Thailand should pursue more FTA negotiations with the trading partners. Moreover, they should promote miscellaneous behind-the-border barriers to stimulate flows of goods to enhance the country’s trade efficiency substantially.

This study aims to consider the role of women serving in the executive committee of the company and determine how it related to corporate social and environmental responsibilities (CSR and ESR). The data was collected from the 344 companies listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) between 2013 and 2014. Especially, the CSR and ESR data was collected from the annual report and used to measure activities related to environmental and social responsibilities of companies listed on the SET. This study employed panel analysis regression to analyze the relationship between dependent and independent variables. The results indicated that the role of women who served in the executive committees of companies listed on SET had a positive impact on the social and environmental responsibilities of companies listed on the SET. The Granger causality test showed that the proportion of women holding positions on the board of directors had a statistically significant relationship with CSR and ESR, which is a unidirectional relationship. Moreover, the size of the company and the return to total assets also have a positive significant relationship with the CSR and ESR.
This paper aims to investigate economics welfare gain from main rice export countries, namely India, Thailand, and Vietnam, by measuring the demand and supply of exporters and importers estimated by the copula-based Simultaneous ECM Approach. This model exploits a benefit of copula functions which allow the error’s distribution of both demand and supply equations to have more realistic distributions. The highlighted empirical results show the adjustment of importing countries to the equilibrium. Thai rice export market can adjust better than the other two countries. This means that the export market is very strong. In the supply side, India is the fastest country in adjusting to its equilibrium. For the economic welfare aspect, the most welfare benefits in Thai rice trade belong to importing countries. Whereas, the most welfare benefits in India rice trade belong to exporting countries.
This study purposes to estimate climate change effect on agriculture sector in ASEAN by using the copula-based stochastic frontier approach to evaluate the technical efficiency and factors that affect agriculture production. Panel data of land, labour, fertilizer, and temperature in seven countries in ASEAN including Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, Philippines, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Malaysia collected from 2002 - 2016 were used for estimating the model. The results presented that the land, labour, and fertilizer consumption according to the agriculture have positive and significant effects on agricultural production. The most interesting point from this study, found that there is a negative effect on agriculture production related by the climate change. Additionally, this study provides the most appropriate tools to analyse climate change impacts on ASEAN agriculture and the potential options for adaptation in the agriculture sector.
This study purposed to forecast the Chinese tourism demand for Thailand. The time series data of Chinese tourists arriving in Thailand were estimated by using MS-AR Model, the consumer price index of Thailand, and the Thai exchange rate (THB/RMP) based on a monthly basis ranged between 2014 and 2019 collected from Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Bank of Thailand, and Ministry of Commerce, respectively. The results showed that the consumer price index of Thailand and the Thai exchange rate had a significant effect on Chinese tourism demand for Thailand. The most crucial point of this study demonstrated that the CPI could stimulate the tourism industry during the low season, so that the government can utilize or put some policies in effect for stimulating the tourism industry by controlling the CPI. In addition, this study provides the most appropriate tools to forecast the demand of Chinese tourism in Thailand and the potential options for adaption in the tourism sector.
The study aims to investigate Thai rice production efficiency with a spatial panel stochastic frontier model based on copula to draft general statistical data for purpose of Thai agriculture development in the future. The empirical results show that land and labor have an indisputably positive and significant effect on rice production. The SFM with Clayton copula has the lowest value regarding BIC. The best average TE score belongs to the central region followed by the northern region, the north-eastern region, and the southern region with their average scores of 0.951, 0.949, 0.944, and 0.941, respectively. The interesting point is that, the largest gap between the highest and the lowest scores provinces lie within central region which has the highest efficiency score, then, followed by northeastern, the northern, and southern regions with their gap values of 0.078, 0.076, 0.074 and 0.051, respectively.
The study aims to investigate Thai rice production efficiency with the copula-based stochastic frontier model to draft general statistical data for Thai agriculture development in the future. The empirical results show that land and fertilizer have an indisputably positive and significant effect on rice production. The SFM with Gaussian copula has the lowest value regarding to AIC. The best average TE score belongs to the northern region followed by the central region, the north-eastern region, and the southern region with their average scores of 0.86, 0.819, 0.76 and 0.74, respectively. The interesting point is that, even with highest efficiency score, there is the largest gap between the highest and the lowest scores within central region provinces, followed by north-eastern, central and northern regions with their values of 0.2, 0.18, 0.15 and 0.08, respectively.
Forecasting Thai rice exports price is principal for both producers and buyers. The broad set of potential factors influence the price, which might lead to multicollinearity problems. Ridge and Lasso regressions are able to solve these problems via shrinking the parameters. Thus, we employ ridge and lasso to forecast Thai rice exports price. Estimated results of forecasting of Thailand's rice exports price show that Lasso model provides better forecasting performance based on MAE, MSE, RMSE, and MAPE criterion. The estimated results from ridge regression also suggest that Thai rice production, Indian rice export quantity, Indian rice production, Indian rice ending stock, Indian rice export price, Vietnamese rice export quantity, Vietnamese exchange rate Vietnamese rice export price, GDP of importer Thai rice, and population of importer Thai rice have the positive effects on Thai rice exports price.
