The authors suggest a method for determining the character of the ellipticity of light by means of intensity measurements with rotations of the analyzer from 0 to 360° at a definite step. In the case of passage of linearly polarized light through a crystal plate by the same method one can determine the dispersion of the birefringence and the dichroism or the birefringence and the optical activity of the test specimen
