The Belle detector at the KEKB electron-positron collider has collected almost 1 billion Y(4S) events in its decade of operation. Super-KEKB, an upgrade of KEKB is under construction, to increase the luminosity by two orders of magnitude during a three-year shutdown, with an ultimate goal of 8E35 /cm^2 /s luminosity. To exploit the increased luminosity, an upgrade of the Belle detector has been proposed. A new international collaboration Belle-II, is being formed. The Technical Design Report presents physics motivation, basic methods of the accelerator upgrade, as well as key improvements of the detector.
Deeply virtual Compton scattering, gamma*p -> gamma p, has been measured in e(+)p collisions at HERA with the ZEUS detector using an integrated luminosity of 61.1 pb(-1). Cross sections are presented as a function of the photon virtuality, Q(2), and photon-proton centre-of-mass energy, W, for a wide region of the phase space, Q(2) > 1.5GeV(2) and 40 < W < 170GeV. A subsample of events in which the scattered proton is measured in the leading proton spectrometer, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 31.3 pb(-1), is used for the first direct measurement of the differential cross section as a function of t, where t is the square of the four-momentum transfer at the proton vertex.
The production of excited charm, D_1(2420)^0 and D_2^*(2460)^0, and charm-strange, D_{s1}(2536)^+-, mesons in ep collisions was measured with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of 126 pb^-1. Masses, widths and helicity parameters were determined. The measured yields were converted to the rates of c quarks hadronising as a given excited charm meson and to the ratios of the dominant D_2^*(2460)^0 and D_{s1}(2536)^+- branching fractions. A search for the radially excited charm meson, D^{*'}(2640)^+-, was also performed. The results are compared with those measured previously and with theoretical expectations.
The dissociation of virtual photons, gamma*p -> X-p, in events with a large rapidity gap between X and the outgoing proton, as well as in events in which the leading proton was directly measured, has been studied with the ZEUS detector at HERA. The data cover photon virtualities Q(2) > 2 GeV2 and gamma*p centre-of-mass energies 40 < W < 240 GeV, with M-X > 2 GeV, where M-X is the mass of the hadronic final state, X. Leading protons were detected in the ZEUS leading proton spectrometer. The cross section is presented as a function of t, the squared four-momentum transfer at the proton vertex and Phi. the azimuthal angle between the positron scattering plane and the proton scattering plane. It is also shown as a function of Q(2) and x(P), the fraction of the proton's momentum carried by the diffractive exchange. as well as beta, the Bjorken variable defined with respect to the diffractive exchange. Beauty production in events containing two final-state muons has been measured with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of 377 pb$^{-1}$. A low transverse-momentum threshold for muon identification, together with the large rapidity coverage of the ZEUS muon system and the upgraded ZEUS tracker, give access to an almost full phase space for beauty production in this channel. The cross section for beauty production in $ep$ collisions has been measured to be $11.4\pm0.8$ (stat.) $^{+3.9}_{-3.4}$ (syst.) nb. Differential cross sections and $b\bar{b}$ correlations are compared to previous measurements and theoretical models.
Subjet distributions were measured in neutral current deep inelastic ep scattering with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of 81.7 pb-1. Jets were identified using the kT cluster algorithm in the laboratory frame. Subjets were defined as jet-like substructures identified by a reapplication of the cluster algorithm at a smaller value of the resolution parameter ycut. Measurements of subjet distributions for jets with exactly two subjets for ycut=0.05 are presented as functions of observables sensitive to the pattern of parton radiation and to the colour coherence between the initial and final states. Perturbative QCD predictions give an adequate description of the data.
The cross sections for charged and neutral current deep inelastic scattering in ep collisions with a longitudinally polarised positron beam have been measured using the ZEUS detector at HERA. The results, based on data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 23.8 pb at √ s = 318 GeV, are given for both ep charged current and neutral current deep inelastic scattering for both positive and negative values of the longitudinal polarisation of the positron beam. Single differential cross sections are presented for the kinematic region Q > 200 GeV. The measured cross sections are compared to the predictions of the Standard Model. A fit to the data yields σ(Pe = −1) = 7.4 ± 3.9(stat.) ± 1.2(syst.) pb, which is consistent within two standard deviations with the absence of righthanded charged currents in the Standard Model. Beauty photoproduction in dijet events has been measured at HERA with the ZEUS detector using an integrated luminosity of 126 pb-1. Beauty was identified in events with a muon in the final state by using the transverse momentum of the muon relative to the closest jet. Lifetime information from the silicon vertex detector was also used; the impact parameter of the muon with respect to the primary vertex was exploited to discriminate between signal and background. Cross sections for beauty production as a function of the muon and the jet variables as well as dijet correlations are compared to QCD predictions and to previous measurements. The data are well described by predictions from next-to-leading-order QCD.
The semi-inclusive reaction e+ p -> e+ X p was studied with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of 12.8 pb-1. The final-state proton, which was detected with the ZEUS leading proton spectrometer, carried a large fraction of the incoming proton energy, xL>0.32, and its transverse momentum squared satisfied pT^2<0.5 GeV^2; the exchanged photon virtuality, Q^2, was greater than 3 GeV^2 and the range of the masses of the photon-proton system was 45<W<225 GeV. The leading proton production cross section and rates are presented as a function of xL, pT^2, Q^2 and the Bjorken scaling variable, x.
Jet cross sections were measured in charged current deep inelastic e+-p scattering at high boson virtualities Q^2 with the ZEUS detector at HERA II using an integrated luminosity of 0.36 fb^-1. Differential cross sections are presented for inclusive-jet production as functions of Q^2, Bjorken x and the jet transverse energy and pseudorapidity. The dijet invariant mass cross section is also presented. Observation of three- and four-jet events in charged-current e+-p processes is reported for the first time. The predictions of next-to-leading-order (NLO) QCD calculations are compared to the measurements. The measured inclusive-jet cross sections are well described in shape and normalization by the NLO predictions. The data have the potential to constrain the u and d valence quark distributions in the proton if included as input to global fits.
Inclusive K_{S};{0}K_{S};{0} production in ep collisions at the DESY ep collider HERA was studied with the ZEUS detector using an integrated luminosity of 0.5 fb;{-1}. Enhancements in the mass spectrum were observed and are attributed to the production of f_{2}(1270)/a_{2};{0}(1320), f_{2};{'}(1525) and f_{0}(1710). Masses and widths were obtained using a fit which takes into account theoretical predictions based on SU(3) symmetry arguments, and are consistent with the Particle Data Group values. The f_{0}(1710) state, which has a mass consistent with a glueball candidate, was observed with a statistical significance of 5 standard deviations. However, if this state is the same as that seen in gammagamma-->K_{S};{0}K_{S};{0}, it is unlikely to be a pure glueball state.
Deep inelastic scattering and its diffractive component, ep -> e' gamma* p -> e' X N, have been studied at HERA with the ZEUS detector using an integrated luminosity of 52.4 pb(-1). The M-X method has been used to extract the diffractive contribution. A wide range in the centre-of-mass energy W (37-245 GeV), photon virtuality Q(2) (20-450 GeV2) and mass M-X (0.28-35 GeV) is covered. The diffractive cross section for 2 < M-X < 15 GeV rises strongly with W, the rise becoming steeper as Q(2) increases. The data are also presented in terms of the diffractive structure function, F-2(D(3)), of the proton. For fixed Q(2) and fixed M-X, XPF2D(3) shows a strong rise as x(P) -> 0, where x(P) is the fraction of the proton momentum carried by the pomeron. For Bjorken-x < 1 x 10(-3), XPF2D(3) shows positive log Q(2) scaling violations, while for x >= 5 x 10(-3) negative scaling violations are observed. Three-jet production in deep inelastic ep scattering and photoproduction was investigated with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of 127 pb−1. Measurements of differential cross sections are presented as functions of angular correlations between the three jets in the final state and the protonbeam direction. These correlations provide a stringent test of perturbative QCD and show sensitivity to the contributions from different colour configurations. Fixed-order perturbative QCD calculations assuming the values of the colour factors CF , CA and TF as derived from a variety of gauge groups were compared to the measurements to study the underlying gauge group symmetry. The measured angular correlations in the deep inelastic ep scattering and photoproduction regimes are consistent with the admixture of colour configurations as predicted by SU(3) and disfavour other symmetry groups, such as SU(N) in the limit of large N . Photoproduction of beauty quarks in events with two jets and an electron associated with one of the jets has been studied with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of 120pb^-1. The fractions of events containing b quarks, and also of events containing c quarks, were extracted from a likelihood fit using variables sensitive to electron identification as well as to semileptonic decays. Total and differential cross sections for beauty and charm production were measured and compared with next-to-leading-order QCD calculations and Monte Carlo models.
The charged multiplicity distributions and the mean charged multiplicity have been investigated in inclusive neutral current deep inelastic e p scattering with the ZEUS detector at HERA, using an integrated luminosity of 38.6 pb(-1). The measurements were performed in the current region of the Breit frame, as well as in the current fragmentation region of the hadronic centre-of-mass frame. The KNO-scaling properties of the data were investigated and the energy dependence was studied using different energy scales. The data are compared to results obtained in e(+)e(-) collisions and to previous DIS measurements as well as to leading-logarithm parton-shower Monte Carlo predictions.

A new method is employed to measure the neutral current cross section up to Bjorken-x values of one with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of 65.1 pb-1 for e+p collisions and 16.7 pb-1 for e-p collisions at sqrts=318 GeV and 38.6 pb-1 for e+p collisions at sqrts=300 GeV. Cross sections have been extracted for Q2 >= 648 GeV2 and are compared to predictions using different parton density functions. For the highest x bins, the data have a tendency to lie above the expectations using recent parton density function parametrizations.
Inclusive-jet and dijet differential cross sections have been measured in neutral current deep inelastic ep scattering for exchanged boson virtualities Q2 > 125 GeV2 with the ZEUS detector at HERA using an integrated luminosity of 82 pb-1. Jets were identified in the Breit frame using the kt cluster algorithm. Jet cross sections are presented as functions of several kinematic and jet variables. The results are also presented in different regions of Q2. Next-to-leading-order QCD calculations describe the measurements well. Regions of phase space where the theoretical uncertainties are small have been identified. Measurements in these regions have the potential to constrain the gluon density in the proton when used as inputs to global fits of the proton parton distribution functions.
