We aimed to translate the 17-item questionnaire to measure the quality of life of patients with chronic wounds (Wound-QoL-17) and verify its reliability and validity in the Chinese population. The standard Chinese version of the Wound-QoL-17 was determined through translation, back translation, and cultural adaptation. A total of 121 patients with chronic wounds from the wound center of a tertiary hospital in Beijing were recruited. Through a questionnaire and physical examination, we tested the criterion-related validity, known group validity, structural validity, internal consistency coefficient (Cronbach's alpha), and test-retest correlation. A new structure of four factors was extracted by exploratory factor analysis, and the cumulative contribution rate was 72.23%. The total score and that of the four factors, which were significantly correlated with the EuroQol Five Dimensions Questionnaire (EQ-5D) and the Short Form-36 Health Survey (SF-36) (P < 0.05), also showed statistically significant differences between patients with different pain grades, with or without wound odour, and between different groups of patients reporting wound changes in the past 2 weeks. Cronbach's alpha was between 0.779 and 0.906, while the test-retest reliability was between 0.532 and 0.802. We concluded that the Chinese Wound-QoL-17 has good reliability and validity and is suitable for evaluating the quality of life of patients with chronic wounds.
Objective To test the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of the colostomy impact score (CIS) among patients with a permanent colostomy in China. Methods A total of 218 patients completed the survey either in the clinic or remotely and mailed their responses. Reliability was estimated based on test-retest reliability. Validity was evaluated based on content validity, construct validity, and discriminative validity. The sensitivity and specificity of the score were analysed. The area under the curve was analysed by drawing the receiver-operating characteristic (ROC) curve; the optimal cutoff point was calculated to assess the impact of a stoma on domestic patients. Results The test-retest reliability of the CIS was 0.967. The content validity was 0.98, and the construct and discriminative validities were good; sensitivity, specificity, and area under the ROC curve were 100, 48.53, and 0.806%, respectively. The optimal cutoff point for the Chinese version of the Colostomy Impact Score was 11.5. Conclusions The Chinese version of the CIS indicated good reliability and validity, making it suitable for the evaluation of the impact of a permanent colostomy.
Objective To investigate the immediate oral feedback after objective structure clinical examination (OSCE) for postgraduate year 1 & 2 surgery residents (PGY1 & 2).Methods 37 PGY1 and 38 PGY2 wereevaluated.The examination was composed of 6 stationsand limited to15 minutes per station.Each station was evaluated by centesimal system score.Immediate oral feedback was given in the last2 minutes.A questionnaire was given to each resident and examiner at the end of OSCE.All data analyses were conducted using SPSS version 22.0,repeated measures ANOVA and LSD test were used,and correlations were tested by the Pearson correlation test.Results The average scores for PGY1 & 2 were (68.97 ± 5.40) and (68.35 ± 5.00),the between-and inter-round differences in average score were not statistically significant.There was no significant correlation about theevaluation of the residents' performance during OSCE between the examiners and the residents.The necessity and effectiveness of immediate oral feedback were confirmed by both the examiners and the residents.Conclusions Immediate oral feedback isfeasible with limited impact on OSCE score,but the plan should be furtherrefined.Follow-up study isnecessary to identify the long-term effect on the clinical competency.
