In the domain of model-driven system engineering, model-to-model (M2M) transformations present a very relevant topic because they may provide much-needed automation capabilities to the whole CASE-supported system development life cycle. Nonetheless, it is observed that throughout the whole development process M2M transformations are spread unevenly; in this respect, the phases of Business Modeling and System Analysis are arguably the most underdeveloped ones. The main novelty and contributions of this paper are the presented set of model-based transformations for extracting well-structured SBVR business vocabularies from visual UML use case models, which utilizes M2M transformation technology based on the so-called drag-and-drop actions. The conducted experiments show that this new development provides the same transformation power while introducing more flexibility to the model development process as compared to our previously developed approach for (semi-)automatic extraction of SBVR business vocabularies from UML use case models.
Model Driven Architecture (MDA) together with Unified Modelling Language (UML) presents a framework which transfers the emphasis of development from source code to the higher level of abstraction i.e., models. In this paper, we demonstrate the application of MDA principles for generating smart contract code executed on a blockchain. Even though blockchain smart contracts are not in all cases a classic type of object-oriented software, which UML is intended for, we demonstrate the possibility to adapt to this specific implementation platform. MDA Platform Specific Model (PSM) is used as an input for transformation algorithm which maps PSM metamodel elements to Go Chaincode elements and produces Go chaincode. In PSM, UML class and sequence diagrams are used for specifying structural and behavioural aspects of the smart contract. MOFM2T transformation language and Acceleo tool are employed for the implementation of this algorithm. The results of the algorithm execution were demonstrated using example chaincode for machine learning model validation.
The paper analyses the effect of applying gamification in a course for undergraduate computer science students in the Faculty of Informatics at Kaunas University of Technology. The course teaches Unified Modelling Language (UML) and its application in the Unified Process for software development. In this paper, the gamified course metamodel is presented, and it specifies a level-based course structure as well as other gamification elements used in the course, such as points and other types of rewards (coins, items, and badges), the leaderboard, content locking and trading. The gamified course was implemented on Moodle platform, and the experiment was carried out during spring semester 2018. The analysis of students' grades confirms the hypothesis which states that students' grades can increase as a result of applying gamification to their learning process. The results of students' questionnaire (based on the Intrinsic Motivation Inventory scale) also confirm the hypothesis which states that gamification can improve students' motivation.
Problems with inadequately documented or undocumented websites could be alleviated by introducing reverse engineering of UML diagrams. In this paper, the method for reverse engineering UML use case model for websites is presented. It consists of two steps: recording user actions in the analyzed website, and then transforming the combination of recorded activity and publicly available HTML code information into UML use case model. This model consists of UML use case diagram and UML activity diagrams describing scenario of each use case. The proposed method is implemented as a Google Chrome plugin named WEB2UML. WEB2UML is able to generate UML use case and activity diagrams in XMI format, compatible with MagicDraw UML CASE tool. During experimental evaluation of the WEB2UML tool, two UML use case models were reverse engineered: one for moodle. if.ktu.lt website and another for researchgate.net website. The quality of generated models was evaluated using an anonymous questionnaire completed by 13 UML modelling experts. The results of expert evaluation are encouraging: in total, average expert evaluation score was 8,4 in a scale often.
This paper focuses on static code analysis tools for .NET platform. Static code analysis tools typically use a certain set of rules. In this paper we have proposed to implement four rules, which we consider important from our practical experience of software development. We have analysed existing popular static analysis tools for .NET platform in order to determine whether they have the rules equivalent to our proposed new rules. We have selected an open-source tool Gendarme for the implementation of these rules. We also investigated existing Gendarme rules and discovered that some of them could be improved. Therefore, we have proposed and implemented improvements for four existing Gendarme rules. In order to evaluate the improvements made in Gendarme rule set in a real-life environment, the source code of five open-source programs from sourceforge.net was tested using new and improved rules. Experiment results indicate that the improvements of existing Gendarme rules and the creation of new rules enable detection of more errors and can increase the quality of source code.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.5755/j01.itc.45.1.9341
Modern business information technologies, such as Cloud computing and Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) raise new requirements for end node security. Cryptographic algorithms must be used to ensure security of business data and communications. However, data encryption decreases battery lifetime on mobile devices such as smartphones or tablet PCs. In this paper, we provide an analysis of energy consumption characteristics of cryptographic algorithms from Bouncy Castle Crypto API. We propose a cryptography-oriented energy-security trade-off model and use it to evaluate energy-efficiency of cryptographic algorithms.

Web protection against XSS attacks is an indispensable tool for implementing reliable online systems. XSS attacks can be used for various malicious actions and stealing important information. Protection may be implemented both on user computer and on server side. In this work we have analyzed the server side protection solutions. These solutions must ensure appropriate level of security and at the same time should not considerably increase page response time. The aim of this paper is to determine the most effective and safe free tools for protection against XSS attacks for web pages created using PHP, ASP. NET and Java technologies.
Problems of sensitive information hiding in disk drives using cluster-based file systems are analyzed in this study. A new covert channel method for information hiding in disk drives is proposed and discussed. The method uses multiple cover files and is based on relative allocation of clusters of cover files in relation to one another. The experimental results presented in this paper show that the proposed method is easy to implement, provides good (for the covert channel) storage capacity and has the property of two-fold plausible deniability. The proposed covert channel method can be used for the storage of small and very sensitive information (such as passwords or encryption keys) on removable disk drives. Model Driven Architecture (MDA) enables system design at more abstract (model) level and facilitates program code generation from models, thus changing software application development to model development. In this paper the Extended Model Driven Approach for service oriented information systems is presented. The main idea of EMDA is bringing the principles of MDA to the earlier system development stage. Therefore the comprehensive requirements model must be developed which defines the state and behaviour of the system independently not only from any implementation platform, but from the architectural design as well. The algorithms proposed in our work automate development and reconciliation of such requirements model and transformation from requirements to design model.
The AXMEDIS is an open framework which builds on new technologies and tools to reduce costs and increase efficiency for full scale content production and protection (multiple and interoperable Digital Rights Management - DRM) [2]. AXMEDIS framework has multichannel (broadcasting, IP/Internet, P2P, mobile, PDA, IPTV, VOD etc.) distribution tools. In this paper Video on Demand (VOD) AXMEDIS content distribution is analyzed. Special attention is dedicated to adaptation of AXMEDIS DRM system for VOD distribution.
Process network is a computation model used in digital signal processing. This model is effective for solving various tasks, which can be divided into multiple concurrent processes. These processes communicate through unbounded FIFO buffers and can be executed simultaneously. In real time digital signal processing applications execution time is often infinite. However, various hardware/software failures can occur. These failures can be single or multiple. In our work, dynamic run-time reconfiguration is introduced into process network which ensures single or multiple error handling, avoiding deadlocks, continuous and on-time result delivery. In this paper, we extend Fault Tolerant Process Network with algorithm for avoiding multiple simultaneous failures, which is also suitable for avoiding a single failure.

After dynamic reconfiguration, network execution results may become non deterministic, but this helps avoiding critical termination of network execution. In this paper, we present a description of possible failures of network execution and discuss the means for avoiding these failures.
Service orientation and Model Driven Development are the pillars of modern Information Systems. Service-oriented information systems are composed of loosely coupled and interoperable services driven by requirements of users. New modelling facilities are proposed to enable effective service development including more rigorous requirements definition, reconciliation and transformations of requirements to software architectures. These facilities are focused on modelling interactions and state transitions of services represented by interfaces and entities of problem domain. Metamodels for requirements and design model specification, algorithms for requirement reconciliation and transformation to design were created using UML and OCL, and implemented in UML CASE tools.
Data flow process networks are frequently used in streaming multimedia applications. Modified Kahn process network analyzed in this paper is a kind of data flow process networks. It is a computation model in which many concurrent processes can be executed simultaneously. In real time digital signal processing applications execution time often is infinite. However failures of implementation hardware can occur. In our work dynamic run-time reconfiguration is introduced into process network which ensures hardware error handling. After dynamic reconfiguration, network execution results may become non deterministic, but this helps avoiding critical termination of network execution. In this work Error-Proof Process Network (EPPN) model is presented. EPPN is based on Kahn process network model and ensures the possibility to reconfigure network in case of hardware failure.
