This chapter focuses on the issues of clean water, sanitation, and human health. UN Sustainable Development Goals seek to ensure access to water and sanitation for all by 2030. At present, one in three people worldwide lack access to clean drinking water, while two in five are even deprived of a basic hand-washing facility with soap and water. The global Covid-19 pandemic further underscored the fundamental importance of clean water, sanitation, and hygiene with regard to fighting the virus and promoting well-being.
