Ecosystem conservation entails maintaining human-nature harmonious coexistence. Its primary challenge lies in addressing human awareness and individuals' empathy fatigue within the process. Although existing research has demonstrated the significance of ecosystem, concerns over its destruction, and awareness of conservation, only insufficient attentions paid on its sustainability. Therefore, this study proposes that awareness decline leads to empathy fatigue in human-nature harmonious coexistence. Integrating empathy theory and the concept of fatigue, a model has been introduced to understand the empathy fatigue. Guided by this framework, this study employs a mixed-methods approach combining natural language processing and qualitative analysis. Taking Japan's nuclear wastewater discharge-a case exemplifying the awareness decline-as its subject, it explores core questions: user segmentation, the evolution of discourse patterns, and underlying mechanisms. This study continuously monitored and collected 2227 valid comments from YouTube between January 2021 and November 2025. It constructed a three-tier mechanism model- "attention bubble-cascading exit-discourse coreization" -based on four dimensions: structural fragility, exit timing, discourse evolution, and mechanism integration, validating the empathy fatigue framework. This study reveals the evolutionary path of public environmental engagement shifting from "emotion-driven mass participation" to "cognition-driven elite participation". It identifies key factors and their roles within attribution mechanisms, including responsibility allocation, user commitment levels, discourse rationalization, and empathy transformations. By proposing the theory of empathy fatigue, this study interprets the dual-dimensional structure of decreased affective empathy fatigue and increased cognitive empathy in ecosystem conservation, providing significant insights for interpreting and practicing long-term communication and participation mechanisms in ecosystem conservation.
Port activities have become deeply embedded in the development trajectories of port cities, and their impacts on urban environmental pressure cannot be characterized as a simple linear scale effect. Instead, these impacts exhibit pronounced stage-dependent and structure-contingent features. Focusing on major port cities in China, this study develops an integrated analytical framework that combines fixed-effects residualization, interpretable machine learning, and city typology to systematically characterize the nonlinear relationships among port activity intensity, transportation and freight structure, and urban environmental pressure. Specifically, the study first employs an Extreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) model coupled with Shapley Additive Explanations (SHAP) decomposition to identify endogenous threshold effects of port activity intensity on multiple categories of environmental pollution intensity, without imposing any a priori functional form. This approach reveals key changes in the marginal environmental effects of port activities across different stages of development. Subsequently, a Gaussian mixture model (GMM) is applied to classify port cities into structurally distinct types, capturing long-term differences in port dependence, transportation organization patterns, and baseline pollution conditions. Building on this typology, the study conducts type-wise SHAP decomposition and pre-/post-threshold comparative analysis to trace the underlying mechanisms through which thresholds emerge across different categories of port cities. This analysis interprets transportation structure and existing pollution baselines as potential amplifying or buffering pathways in the model-implied contribution structure, depending on city type. The results demonstrate substantial heterogeneity in both the location and environmental implications of port activity thresholds across port city types, indicating that environmental risks are not determined solely by port scale but are contingent on the urban structural conditions. By emphasizing stage-specific dynamics and structural heterogeneity, this study advances the understanding of environmental effects in port cities and provides empirical evidence to inform differentiated port development regulation, transportation system optimization, and targeted environmental governance strategies.
The New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor is located in western China. It connects the Silk Road Economic Belt, the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, and the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and holds an important strategic position in the regional coordinated development. Aiming at the high-dimensional decision-making problem of multimodal transport path planning for the new corridor, this paper proposes a path planning algorithm that combines a multi-hierarchy heterogeneous graph attention network with deep Q-network (MHGAN-DQN). The algorithm dynamically incorporates the multiple heterogeneous relationships between nodes and edges in the transportation network into the action selection process, significantly enhancing the model's ability to capture key paths. Additionally, the algorithm introduces a node decomposition method to ensure consistency in the reward of action selection, avoiding conflicts with the requirements of the Bellman equation, effectively simplifying the state space management in path planning. Finally, this paper thoroughly examines the multi-objective impact of cost, time, and carbon emission on multimodal transport path selection. It further explores the comprehensive impact of railway freight subsidies, carbon tax policies, and uncertainties in transportation time on the final transportation scheme. The research results significantly improve the accuracy and efficiency of path decision-making, deepen the application of deep reinforcement learning in multimodal transport, and provide decision-making support for policy development related to the sustainable development of logistics systems of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor.
Ship emissions constitute a major source of air pollution in coastal regions. To address the challenges associated with high-precision and dynamic emission monitoring, this paper proposes a cooperative unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) monitoring framework that integrates data envelopment analysis (DEA) with multi-agent reinforcement learning. Specifically, a path planning and sampling decision-making model based on multi-agent proximal policy optimization (MAPPO) is developed, and a DEA-based cross efficiency social reward (CESR) mechanism is introduced to characterize the relative efficiency and cooperative relationships among UAVs under multiple objectives, including energy consumption, spatial coverage, and emission inversion performance. This mechanism guides UAVs to form an appropriate division of labor in dynamic, multi-source, and uncertain environments, thereby reducing redundant sampling and improving overall monitoring efficiency. Furthermore, a unified simulation environment is established by coupling a pollution plume dispersion model driven by realistic wind fields, a ship emission inversion model, and UAV dynamics and energy consumption constraints. Based on real automatic identification system (AIS) ship trajectories and ERA5 wind field data from the offshore area of the Copenhagen Port, Denmark, systematic comparative experiments are conducted under scenarios with varying ship densities and wind field complexities. The results demonstrate that the proposed method achieves significant improvements in emission inversion accuracy, detection capability, energy efficiency, and cooperative stability. In particular, it exhibits stronger robustness under conditions of high ship density and intense wind field disturbances. These findings provide a new cooperative decision-making paradigm for multi-UAV ship emission monitoring that combines performance enhancement with improved interpretability.
From the perspective of empathy theory, this study focuses on the process of entrepreneurship education to explore the mechanism between teacher-student empathic relationship and psychological connection. Entrepreneurship education aims to provide talent to support the innovative development of society. Previous studies have focused on the educational significance of the promoting entrepreneurial intention, and few have paid attention to the psychological differentiation caused by the incomprehension between teachers and students. By conducting three experiments on cognitive empathy shaping to eliminate confidence segmentation, affective empathy shaping to eliminate confidence segmentation, and the non-negligible affective bias, a total of 424 college undergraduates were invited to participate in this study (405 final valid samples were collected). This study analyzed the impact of cognitive empathy, affective empathy and affective bias on confidence segmentations in entrepreneurship, within the theoretical framework of empathy, as well as the moderating role of objective environmental perception. Cognitive empathy and affective empathy has significant positive effects on the entrepreneurial confidence segmentation between teachers and students, while affective bias plays its role to aggravate the entrepreneurial confidence segmentation. On this basis, objective factors such as individual conditions and supporting environment serve as important moderators, and the significance of rational relationship is higher than that of perceptual relationship. This study indicates that the teacher-student empathic relationship in entrepreneurship education is a dual-process mechanism of connection, and that the rational relationship is more vital than the emotional one. We confirm the psychological significance of teacher-student empathic relationship in entrepreneurship education, and demonstrate the framework of empathy theory in a new context.
With the narrative theory being introduced into the field of social space, exploring the developmental direction of museum narrative in the new era has become a new focus of the academia. In order to explore the empathic interaction in museum narrative, this study analyzed the historical and cultural lyricism, tourists’ emotional feedback, and interactive responses between historical culture and tourists’ own culture. We drew the following three conclusions. First, based on the rich storyline, the historical and cultural lyricism in museum narrative could promote emotional expression, with the support of innovative technologies. Second, tourists’ emotional feedback in museum narrative is a way for cultural communication, which makes tourists shift from initial sensory experience to spiritual perception. Third, the historical culture of museum and tourists’ own culture are subjects of museum narrative, their interactive responses form the empathic interaction in museum narrative. Accordingly, we constructed the explanatory framework of the empathic interaction in museum narrative, which helps museum managers to make more detailed and tourist-oriented plans, and to further develop the infrastructures in museums.
With the backdrop of global climate warming and globalization, environmental issues of the Arctic shipping routes have increasingly become a global concern, and received growing attention from all walks of life in the international community. Currently, academic researchers and policy makers focus on evaluating the economic value of ecosystem services on a certain scale, and the dynamic pattern and connection relationships between humans and ecosystems require urgent, in-depth exploration. To this end, based on ecolinguistics, this article targeted the black carbon emission event of the Arctic shipping routes, collected text data related to the Arctic ecosystem, extracted keywords such as human thoughts and behavioral strategies described in the text language to carry out analysis from public engagement, scientific management, sustainable development, coordinate interactions, and build a network of "Environment balance - Consciousness resonation". From four levels of overall network, nodes, local sub-networks, and paths, this research explores the operating mechanism of various elements in the "Environment balance - Consciousness resonation" network, outlines a path for the formation of the eco-environment balance awareness, and further confirms the importance of environmental awareness, interaction management, smart environmental protection, and cognitive appeals among other topics in environment balance and consciousness resonation. Meanwhile, the research also proposes a law of linkage between environment balance and consciousness resonation, which incorporates the empathy with the nature into the Arctic shipping route research for building a theoretical framework for mental resonation in the "'Speaker'-'Listener'-Social behavior" ecosystem to expand in-depth understanding in human pro-environmental behavior.
With the development of modern technologies, museums have been engaged in the competition for novel sensory resources. Taking into consideration the main body of visitors, their experiential representation has gradually become the focal point of the museums. However, at present, the museum display is limited to visual effect. The scientific and technological methods proposed by existing research have not really formed a deep cultural memory of historical stories, and the sustainable development paths of museums need to be further optimized. Thus, the purpose of this study is to explore the conception and path of museum auditory experience development, and to verify the existing patterns of empathy in museum auditory experience development. We set up digital music vocalization tools in the museum to temporarily create the immersion experience for digital music. In this scenario, we could meticulously observe the tourists’ experience, with the joint effect of active cognitive environment and environment-driven emotion. We also conducted a timely survey on the cognition, emotion, and experience of the observation subjects after the experiment. Last, empirical methods has been used to analyze the role of immersive empathy in enhancing visitors’ experience, in order to gain insights into visitors’ perception and cognition of the museum, integrating with the digital music. After analyzing the collected data, this study found that cognitive empathy has a significant positive impact on visitors’ experience. It indicated that for the historical stories presentation, the properly integration of museum and digital can help tourists deeply understand the historical events, which could restore the cultural connotation conveyed by the designer. Emotional empathy also has a significant positive impact on visitors’ experience. It showed that that the rendering of digital music will motivate visitors’ emotional fluctuation, during their visit to the museum. And through the combination of audio-visual effects, the constructed spatial perception, allowing visitors to enjoy immersive experience. This study proposed a vision for the development of auditory experiences in museums, based on both cognitively active immersion and emotionally passive immersion of visitors. We also suggested that in the new era, museums need to reform with voice, to timely adjust and innovate their way to exhibit cultural relics, with the hierarchical design of audiovisual integration to construct a more appealing scene and atmosphere.
In the post-pandemic era, a growing emphasis on elevating the quality of tourism consumption has been observed. This study explores how different language portfolios on product packaging can influence tourists’ perceptions and purchase intentions to promote sustainable consumption. Previous studies on tourism product strategies often addressed national identity, power perception, and stereotypes, but overlooked the fundamental role of multilingual packaging strategies for enterprises and tourists. This study focuses on sake, which combines cultural and natural attributes, as its experimental object. Sub-studies 1, 2, and 3 empirically analyzed how perceptions of competence and warmth are affected by monolingual, bilingual, and trilingual properties of language packaging, respectively, and their impact on tourists’ purchase intentions. The findings suggest that monolingual and bilingual packaging enhances tourists’ competence perception, while trilingual packaging enhances tourists’ warmth perception, thereby stimulating tourists’ positive purchase intentions. Additionally, cultural identity significantly moderates the effectiveness of multilingual packaging strategies. Understanding these dynamics can help tourism enterprises design more effective promotional activities and packaging language strategies for tourists’ preferences. It can also enhance the post-pandemic tourism industry.
Digital transformation has brought substantial innovation to traditional industries. As a new driving force for enhancing experiential environments, it has led to the symbiotic development of human and technical aspects on a new developmental journey. In the current discussion on digital transformation, scholars mainly focus on the internal logic of digital technology and its innovative role in social and economic development, but exploring the relationship between people and technology is lacking. Therefore, this research focuses on the technological innovation of outstanding exhibition technology in digital transformation. By collecting and analyzing technical feedback and related text materials from the Digital Museum, we build our research on two aspects: On one hand, we analyze the potential empathic empirical connectivity between exhibition technology and users, clarifying the systematic elements of technology, user experience, and sensory interaction involved in digital transformation. On the other hand, we compare the performance of empathy connection path relationships between exhibition technology and users, clarifying the advantages of each element in these paths and providing theoretical guidance for the selection of digital museum construction. As a result, the research constructs the logical framework of exhibition technology between exhibition technology and users, emphasizing the existence of environmental behavior performance and technology under digital transformation. Finally, the current study proposes the law of empathy between people and technology, revealing the crucial role of digital technology in upgrading user experiences and providing inspiration and guidance for the transformation and operation of digital museums.

The protection of the ecological landscape and the development of ecological resources are vital in the development of the global green economy, Their win-win coordinated development is influenced by factors such as nature, culture, and economy, and more attention should be placed on tourist perception and sustainable resource development. Previous studies have mainly focused on a single perspective and failed to comprehensively consider the coordinated relationship between ecological landscape and ecological resources. This research combined push-and-pull theory and applied empirical analysis to verify the structure of tourists' perceptions and the law of sustainable development of resources related to the development of ecological landscape in the new era. It extracted and analyzed 34 influencing factors and applied the analytic network process (ANP) to analyze each factor's weights, to propose an evaluation system for eco-tourism sustainability development that can help the construction of ecological landscape in the future. The reconstruction and further development of eco-tourism in the new era is reflected in the ideological and practical dimensions; from single-perspective linear thinking to multi-dimensional integrated governance; from conflict between resources conservation and development to collaboration; from isolated management to building a community with a shared future; and showing the transformation and innovation at multiple levels of individual, community, government and national governance.
The frequency increased in international marine trade has caused serious damage to the marine environment and put forward new requirements for the sustainable development of the marine supply chain. Previous studies have examined the effectiveness of marine supply chain management from the single perspective of government, shipping companies or stakeholders, but few studies have focused on the systematic impact of managers' empathy on management. In order to further explore the mechanism of marine supply chain managers' empathic response to marine environmental protection, this study analyses the three major steps involved in the management. This study confirms that policy formulation, "technology-behavior" practices, and stakeholder conflict balance have a positive impact on the improvement of organizational performance in shipping companies, and that empathic responses of managers plays a significant moderating role. This study reflects managers' proenvironment behavior of ocean and practical thinking of "based on policy system, supported by technical behavior, and guaranteed by mitigating conflicts", presents the managers' empathic response under the external influence of policy, internal influence of shipping company itself and process influence of stakeholders, outlining the mechanism of managers' multiple empathic effect in the face of the green marine supply chain. The above three elements co-exist in the cognition and emotion of unified management, systematically revealing managers' psychological performance of managers' empathy in each stage of the supply chain. This study also creatively proposes a mechanism of empathic response, initiates new ideas about marine environmental management, and highlights the important value of empathic response in promoting the synergistic development of economic and marine ecological benefits.
The marine eco-environment is receiving increasing attention globally, and the rapid development of network technology has enabled individuals to express their dissatisfaction and appeals for marine pollution through public engagement measures, particularly on network platforms. As a result, chaotic public opinions and information dissemination on marine pollution are becoming more prevalent. Previous studies have mainly focused on practical measures of marine pollution management, with limited exploration of how to prioritize the monitoring of public opinions on marine pollution. This study aims to develop a comprehensive and scientific measurement scale for public opinion monitoring on marine pollution by defining its implications and dimensions, verifying its reliability, validity, and predictive validity. The research defines the implications of public opinion monitoring regarding marine pollution based on previous literature and experience, using empathy theory as an entry point. The study uses text analysis to explore the internal laws of topic data on social media sites (n = 12,653), forming a theoretical conception of public opinion monitoring composed of three Level 1 dimensions (empathy arousal, empathy experience, and empathy memory). Based on research conclusions and related measurement scales, the study compiles the measurement items to develop the initial scale. Finally, the study verifies the scale reliability and validity (n1 = 435, n2 = 465) and predictive validity (n = 257). Results show that the public opinion monitoring scale has good reliability and validity, and the three Level 1 dimensions have a high level of interpretation for public opinion monitoring and good predictive validity. This research expands the application scope of public opinion monitoring theory and emphasizes the significance of public opinion management on the basis of traditional management research, increasing marine pollution managers' attention to the public domain of the network. Furthermore, it provides public opinion monitoring instruments for marine pollution through scale development and empirical research, reducing the occurrence of public trust crises and creating a stable and harmonious network environment.
With the advent of the information age and advancement of digital technology, film and television tourism is developing rapidly under the joint action of the film industry and tourism industry, and has become a crucial form of cultural and entertainment consumption for individuals to pursue a better life in the new age. This study designs three experiments from the perspectives of identity conversion, motivation transfer, and demand change to conduct an empirical study on the mediating role of empathy for further exploring the internal mechanism of film-induced tourism in film and television tourism. The findings suggest that the three mediation hypotheses are all valid, indicating that film-induced tourism involves identity conversion from audiences to visitors, motivation transfer from watching to traveling, and demand change from interest to expectation through emotional media.
The tourism economy has become a new driving force for economic growth, and film-induced tourism in particular has been widely proven to promote economic and cultural development. Few studies focus on analyzing the inherent characteristics of the economic and cultural effects of film-induced tourism, and the research on the dynamic mechanism of the sustainable development of film-induced tourism is relatively limited. Therefore, from the perspective of the integration of culture and industry, the research explores the dynamic mechanism of sustainable development between film-induced culture and film-induced industry through a questionnaire survey of 1,054 tourism management personnel, combined with quantitative empirical methods. The conclusion shows that the degree of integration of culture and tourism is an important mediating role that affects the dynamic mechanism of sustainable development of film-induced tourism, and the development of film-induced tourism depends on the integration of culture and industry. Constructing a diversified industrial integration model according to local conditions and determining the development path of resource, technology, market, product integration, and administrative management can become the general trend of the future development of film-induced tourism.
With the advent of the post-COVID-19 era, corporate managers of import and export trade are now more sensitive in their daily work, and their decisions are more likely to be influenced by the emotional bias of public opinions, especially regarding cooperation with trade ports of frequent circulation. Therefore, how to manage public opinion and sentiment in the post-COVID-19 era will be a new opportunity and challenge for the marketing management of ports. For the above considerations, through the same frequency verification between public opinions and sentiment on ports and corporate choice of import and export trade, and through analysis of the influence mechanism, the present study demonstrates the positive effects of public opinions and sentiment on ports in corporate choice of import and export trade in the post-COVID-19 era, verifies the significance of shaping word of mouth in port management, puts forward the great role of public opinions and sentiment in the cognitive and emotional empathy in the choice of import and export trade, and provides theoretical guidance for port managers' strategic choices in the post-COVID-19 era.
Based on the two-dimensional University Research Evaluation System (URES), this paper aimed to develop a comprehensive and scientific measurement scale and to empirically verify the impact of the URES on scholars' empathy and willingness to innovate. Grounded in theory, this study analyzed the personal information and interview data of 26 university scholars publicly available online. First, through qualitative analysis (using Nvivo 12 software), we developed an initial scale for URES. Second, we tested the reliability and validity of the scale by structural equation modeling (SEM) using Mplus 8.0 software. The results show that the URES includes two dimensions: research process evaluation and investment output evaluation. The URES scale showed good reliability and validity and was confirmed to be positively correlated with scholars' empathy and willingness to innovate. Therefore, the URES constructed in this study not only fully stimulates scholars' empathy and innovation willingness, but also promotes the optimal use of scholars' knowledge resources. Finally, this research helps to reduce unnecessary educational and political investment, which has important implications for the sustainable development of society.
Previous studies have shown that the empathy process is the main driving factor that triggers tourists’ intention to visit Internet celebrity spots. However, the academic community has not yet formed a unified understanding of the concrete mechanism. Based on this, this study combines the connotations of meme theory and empathy theory and applies Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) to empirically analyze 340 valid samples of Internet celebrity spots visitors to explore the influence mechanism of attributional factors on travel intention. The result shows that mechanism of travel intention can be presented as a psychological model in which travel attribution of tourists to visit Internet celebrity spots is the independent variable, the travel intention is the dependent variable, and the empathy process is the intermediary variable. The influence intensity of internal attribution on affective empathy is higher than that of external attribution, while the influence intensity of external attribution on cognitive empathy has a comparative advantage, and there is a significant difference between them. Empathy process has a significant mediating effect on the relationship between travel attribution and travel intention of tourists to visit Internet celebrity spots, and the mediating effect of affective empathy is significantly greater than that of cognitive empathy. Overall, this study reveals the segmentation elements with strong explanatory power in the behavior of “internet celebrity spots punch in,” examines the practical effect of empathy process in the behavioral intention of traveling, and provides a theoretical reference for the transformation and upgrading of tourist destinations and marketing planning of online communication in the future.
