We develop a spinor helicity formalism for five-dimensional scattering amplitudes of any mass and spin configuration. While five-dimensional spinor helicity variables have been previously studied in the context of 𝒩 = 2, 4 supersymmetric Yang-Mills scattering amplitudes with spin less than two [1], we propose an alternative viewpoint that stems from d-dimensional spinor helicity variables avoiding the decomposition of a massive momentum into the sum of two massless momenta. By enumerating all possible independent little group tensors, we systematically build the full space of five-dimensional three-point tree-level scattering amplitudes for any configuration of spins and masses. Furthermore, we provide a prescription for computing the high energy limit of scattering amplitudes written in our spinor helicity variables. We also expect that our formalism will be applicable to effective field theories with higher spin, in particular, the scattering of highly spinning black holes in five dimensions.
Abstract We study the twisted (co)homology of a family of genus-one integrals — the so called Riemann-Wirtinger integrals. These integrals are closely related to one-loop string amplitudes in chiral splitting where one leaves the loop-momentum, modulus and all but one puncture un-integrated. While not actual one-loop string integrals, they share many properties and are simple enough that the associated twisted (co)homologies have been completely characterized [1]. Using intersection numbers — an inner product on the vector space of allowed differential forms — we derive the Gauss-Manin connection for two bases of the twisted cohomology providing an independent check of [2]. We also use the intersection index — an inner product on the vector space of allowed contours — to derive a double-copy formula for the closed-string analogues of Riemann-Wirtinger integrals (one-dimensional integrals over the torus). Similar to the celebrated KLT formula between open- and closed-string tree-level amplitudes, these intersection indices form a genus-one KLT-like kernel defining bilinears in meromorphic Riemann-Wirtinger integrals that are equal to their complex counterparts.
Recently in arXiv:2012.05599 Rudenko presented a formula for the volume of hyperbolic orthoschemes in terms of alternating polylogarithms. We use this result to provide an explicit analytic result for the one-loop scalar n-gon Feynman integral in n dimensions, for even n, with massless or massive internal and external edges. Furthermore, we evaluate the general six-dimensional hexagon integral in terms of classical polylogarithms.
We compute the modification of the $w_{1+\infty}$ algebra of soft graviton, gluon and scalar currents in the celestial CFT due to non-minimal couplings. We find that the Jacobi identity is satisfied only when the spectrum and couplings of the theory obey certain constraints. We comment on the similarities and essential differences of this algebra to $W_{1+\infty}$.
We determine tree level, all-order celestial operator product expansions (OPEs) of gluons and gravitons in the maximally helicity violating (MHV) sector. We start by obtaining the all-order collinear expansions of MHV amplitudes using the inverse soft recursion relations that they satisfy. These collinear expansions are recast as celestial OPE expansions in bases of momentum as well as boost eigenstates. This shows that inverse soft recursion for MHV amplitudes is dual to OPE recursion in celestial conformal field theory.
A bstract We show that associativity of the tree-level OPE in a celestial CFT imposes constraints on the coupling constants of the corresponding bulk theory. These constraints are the same as those derived in [9] from the Jacobi identity of the algebra of soft modes. The constrained theories are interesting as apparently well-defined celestial CFTs with a deformed w 1+ ∞ symmetry algebra. We explicitly work out the ramifications of these constraints on scattering amplitudes involving gluons, gravitons and scalars in these theories. We find that all four-point amplitudes constructible solely from holomorphic or anti-holomorphic three-point amplitudes vanish on the support of these constraints, which implies that all purely holomorphic or purely anti-holomorphic higher-point amplitudes vanish.
We compute one-loop corrections to the OPE of gluons in the celestial conformal field theory corresponding to Yang-Mills coupled to arbitrary matter. We exploit universal hard/soft factorization to derive an IR finite OPE for the hard gluon operators. This OPE involves logarithms and operators that resemble logarithmic partners of primary operators. We derive an exact all-loop OPE in a limit of the Higgs-regulated planar $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 4 super Yang-Mills theory.
Abstract We propose to use tensor diagrams and the Fomin-Pylyavskyy conjectures to explore the connection between symbol alphabets of n-particle amplitudes in planar $$ \mathcal{N} $$ N = 4 Yang-Mills theory and certain polytopes associated to the Grassmannian Gr(4, n). We show how to assign a web (a planar tensor diagram) to each facet of these polytopes. Webs with no inner loops are associated to cluster variables (rational symbol letters). For webs with a single inner loop we propose and explicitly evaluate an associated web series that contains information about algebraic symbol letters. In this manner we reproduce the results of previous analyses of n ≤ 8, and find that the polytope $$ {\mathcal{C}}^{\dagger}\left(4,9\right) $$ C † 4 9 encodes all rational letters, and all square roots of the algebraic letters, of known nine-particle amplitudes.
Celestial and momentum space amplitudes for massless particles are related to each other by a change of basis provided by the Mellin transform. Therefore properties of celestial amplitudes have counterparts in momentum space amplitudes and vice versa. In this paper, we study the celestial avatar of dual superconformal symmetry of $\mathcal{N}=4$ Yang-Mills theory. We also analyze various differential equations known to be satisfied by celestial $n$-point tree-level MHV amplitudes and identify their momentum space origins.
We continue the study of positive geometries underlying the Grassmannian string integrals, which are a class of “stringy canonical forms”, or stringy integrals, over the positive Grassmannian mod torus action, G+(k, n)/T . The leading order of any such stringy integral is given by the canonical function of a polytope, which can be obtained using the Minkowski sum of the Newton polytopes for the regulators of the integral, or equivalently given by the so-called scattering-equation map. The canonical function of the polytopes for Grassmannian string integrals, or the volume of their dual polytopes, is also known as the generalized bi-adjoint ϕ3 amplitudes. We compute all the linear functions for the facets which cut out the polytope for all cases up to n = 9, with up to k=4 and their parity conjugate cases. The main novelty of our computation is that we present these facets in a manifestly gauge-invariant and cyclic way, and identify the boundary configurations of G+(k, n)/T corresponding to these facets, which have nice geometric interpretations in terms of n points in (k−1)-dimensional space. All the facets and configurations we discovered up to n = 9 directly generalize to all n, although new types are still needed for higher n.
