The intersectionality of fat black women has been in the cultural spotlight in recent years and a significant amount of them might feel invisible or even ask themselves why to exist. When one feels self-inexistence, an imagined reality reinforced by the world, sadness, depression, and anger install within a person. The imaginary inexistence is induced by the unaware shamelessness that others project in the ignored person, who feels being invisible, and being invisible in a digital world is to not exist. In this paper, we answer why they should exist. We approach the issue with Positive Semiotics on desirability based on Positive Psychology, which focuses on understanding and facilitating well-being. We propose a semiotic framework for the construction of positive meaning paving the way from fatphobia to fat praise, passing by fat appraisal, to promote the well-being of fat black women. The proposed framework is the Positive Semiotics Construction, which is simultaneously an individual and collective construction of meaning for well-being, with a Sign-System Functional Model applicable to the digital world. Furthermore, a semiotic approach to Law and Social Norms may understand norms as the ability to send and receive signals for cooperation, which derives from moral appraisals of and reactions to the behavior of others and ourselves, consequently forming the normative underpinning of Law. Hence, the Positive Semiotics Construction might impact normative values and influence Law affecting the language of a society.
The COVID-19 pandemic exposed that the field of education has been using indiscriminately instructional videos. The starting point is evident, a lack of careful design, and in that scenario, the Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning may play a significant role. The rationale of this study is that the elderly, as the targeted audience, might have cognitive decay, hearing loss, or eyesight decline, which might impact the principles of the Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning. This work is an analysis of the evidence that supports or not these cognitive processing principles based on previous literature, with an additional investigation of the literature for the Brazilian scientific journals market. Then, some processing principles of this theory are evaluated for instructional video design for the elderly. The main results summarize that only instructional material directly related to the key learning goal should be included, that important information should be highlighted to learners, that longer videos should be broken into meaningful parts, and that redundancy in instructional videos for the elderly should be investigated considering their specificities.

Brazilian National Council of Justice performed a survey in June 2014 verifying that court-ordered government debts reached the sum of US $26.28 billion. According to Brazilian Tax Law, court-ordered government debt is named “Precatório”. These payment requests issued by the Judiciary are to collect from the Federal, State, and Municipal governments. The management of “Precatórios” is under the jurisdiction responsibility of Federal and State Courts of Justice under, that is, State Courts of Justice are responsible for organizing and maintaining a single list of “Precatórios” owed by the state and by municipalities that are under its jurisdiction. These lists are ordered chronologically, except for special cases defined by Law that have payment preferences. We believe that this is an opportunity for the application of blockchain technology. Blockchain can provide a system that is simplified, decentralized, autonomous, and trustworthy. If we consider that these court-ordered government debt payment may be used for tax payment, another major advantage of a national system that simplifies trade, exchange, and partitioning of is to make this market accessible to persons and small companies, instead of the dispersed bureaucratic payment lists regulated by different standards, inducing the support of specialists. This system would not change payment order, but it would allow a national trade and use that potentially may increase economic activities related to them. Hence, in this work, we propose a simplified model for the application of blockchain technology to “Precatórios” in Brazil. Additionally, we present a strategy for designing interdisciplinary applications of blockchain services.
Nowadays, information can be disseminated extremely quickly, whether it is validated information or not. With the emergence of COVID-19, governments and specialized health agencies have implemented web portals exclusively aimed at COVID-19, as a way of providing reliable information. This work aims to present a descriptive benchmarking of representative government portals on COVID-19, through an interdisciplinary research method. The results point to the general scenario of how some countries are providing information about COVID-19.
For health practitioners, accreditation processes are necessary for their career development. The importance is not restricted to attesting competencies and skills, it may even certify that some professionals are legally capable and authorized to perform a specific complex procedures, such as kidney transplantation. For example, physicians are crossing national borders with their practice, especially in Europe, and patients are becoming more demanding, thus in need of reliable information regarding health professionals. In this context, we propose a scenario to exemplify and to elucidate an emerging problem, that is, an opportunity.Let us consider that a group of national societies on transplantation biology and medicine decides to create an International Accreditation System for health professionals. The system would be a decentralized institution composed of multiple organizations, because accreditation is about trustworthiness, which naturally suggests the use of blockchain technology.Hence, in this work, we propose the use of blockchain and service design in healthcare, as fundamentals for the conceptual design of an international accreditation system for health professionals.Additionally, this work may be understood as a strategy for modeling, designing and developing healthcare systems based on blockchain technology.
The use of mobile technologies in contemporary society increases every day, influencing social, political, economic and cultural relations.Paradoxically, relations in the educational context have been impacted to the practice in the classroom, because schools have to face a society living harmoniously with technologies and the challenge to integrate it into the curriculum and teaching practices. In particular, smartphones have a great potential as a medium to support teaching and learning, therefore, this paper discusses the relevance of the relationship between smartphones and social networks as technologies compatible with the pedagogical demands of the 21st century S chool, and its aim is to highlight the potential of these technologies to the production of knowledge in the processes of teaching and learning. The information in this study was extracted from public high schools at Palmas, capital city of Tocantins -Brazil, in which 212 students and 27 teachers participated. The results endorse the need to change from traditional teaching to a practice focused on curricular integration of Information and Communication Technologies -ICT, considering the intense relationship and the time of students and teachers with the virtual world. This relationship is intensified by the popularization and dissemination of mobile technologies and the importance attributed to social networks in the context of social relations.
Advancement in Information Technology requires reassessment in decision making regarding investment for the success of project management. The barriers of an Information Technology project should be acknowledged before implementing an organizational innovation. The purpose of this paper is to summarize and analyze the risk factors that should be regarded in Information Technology Project Management. The results intend to support corporations management technological changes based on a systematic review of the scientific literature. The results showed that the main issues to be considered in Information Technology Project Management are still related to Communication and to Human Resources. This work is valuable for most organizations, specially for small and medium Enterprises, because it supports decision making regarding Information Technology project management. For instance, for such Enterprises it may be unnecessary to invest in evaluating the efficiency of project management, because for most cases, as a result of this work, it is clear that investing in communication and human resource is a good strategy.
Reporting-Guidelines in Medicine play an important role in promoting the quality of reports in health-related research. For instance, a poorly reported research may induce misinterpretation and inappropriate clinical settings. Basically, three major issues regarding Reporting-Guidelines in Medicine has to be addressed: (1) the existence of lots of reporting guidelines covering a broad spectrum of medical research increases the difficulties when reporting a medical research because it may not be clear which guidelines are applicable, or if all related guidelines are considered; (2) most guideline developers have not described how their guidance was developed, consequently tracking guidelines and features for evaluation, or even for correcting, may be not possible; (3) few guideline developers have evaluated the effectiveness of their guidance, then the real value that the guideline brings to reporting the research is not assured. Hence, we propose a solution to these three issues based on the Model-View-Controller Evolutionary Acquisition Interdisciplinary Research Project Management (MVC EA-IRPM) that is simultaneously a strategy and a web system for the development and management of reporting guidelines.
In this work we present the hypothesis that Education of Technology Management is necessary for the success of a Virtual Learning Environments, not only for Information technology professionals, but as well as for instructors and learners. Assuming its veracity, we compiled a set of skills for Management of Technology to support the elicitation of Interdisciplinary skills for Technology Management Education. Hence, our main result is a framework that intends to support the planning of training of skills of Management of Technology that might improve the efficacy and efficiency of Virtual Learning Environments, but more than this, we hope to arouse the debate.
Healthcare Service Systems may use and support evidence-based medicine, and to accomplish that, their design has to be patient-centered focusing on quality of evidence and strength of recommendation. Hence, this paper intends to promote the debate on the design of Healthcare Service Systems. We propose a framework that attempts to systematize the design and development of Healthcare Service Systems, especially in terms of software engineering. The framework is intended to support the design of Healthcare Service Systems by understanding a complex health treatment as a project, which would provide naturally patient-centeredness, and by considering Evidence-Based Medicine guidelines and recommendations as architecturally significant requirements in the design of Healthcare Service Systems, which would provide focus on quality of evidence and strength of recommendation. Therefore, we would have a SOA user-centric approach and a systematic service design.
In this work, a software application was developed to analyze and visualize messages over Twitter social network, ranking the posts relatively to variations in moods within the Brazilian territory.Artificial intelligence techniques such as text mining and sentiment analysis were used for this purpose. The use of methods of machine learning allows determining the polarity (positive or negative) of tweets collected. Results were displayed in cartograms, through representations of tweet's geographic locations.Surprisingly, another study of twitter's mood from United States Nation showed similar results for the variation of moods throughout the day, hypothesizing a humor pattern for human beings during the period of 24 hours.
The novelty proposed in this work regarding teaching and training of software engineering is about how the Project-Based Learning approach is performed for developing a web system for managing academic projects. The supporting project is a real-life problem. Its development was planned in four phases: prototype, code refactoring, release-to-manufacturing and deployment. We employed some strategies such as role-playing, a software house simulation, and the Model-View-Controller pattern combined with Evolutionary Acquisition and the Interdisciplinary Research Project Management framework.
Persuasive technological strategies directed towards changing users' attitudes or behaviors have thus far been applied in commercial and health promotion contexts, but not for educational purposes. The main reason for this lack of research in educational settings can be attributed to an insufficient understanding of which attitudes or behaviors should be adopted through the evaluation of students' effective learning outcomes. In this study, we present an association between interpersonal conflict and positive learning and depicted the speaker's intention and the hearer's interpretation for cooperative and competitive player roles in light of game theory.
Systematic Review has become an essential scientific method to research in Computer Science, mainly because interdisciplinary studies and scientific research in the Internet are demanding it.This work provides a further analysis on the subject through a systematic review in the domain of Computer Science, which was performed using scientific papers databases relevant to Computer Science, from the years 2006 to 2012.Our research has shown that 75.5% of the total number of papers are concentrated in the top 10 journals.Only 54.9% of the papers declared in the keywords that it was a systematic review, and only 75.7% declared it in their title.Additionally, our research has verified that 59.8% of the papers are directly related to Software Engineering.
In 2012, the internet advertising revenue in the United States of America reached a total of 36.6 billion dollars, a growth of 15.2% when compared to 2011. The efficiency of a marketing strategy relies in the ability to understand and to direct the consumers' desires. In this work, the authors propose an approach that combines the Internet-Based Information Consumer Theory (IBICT) with semiotics to bring consumers' desires to e-Market. Hence, we present IBICT's framework as a collective network set based on a semiotic human-machine approach. For implementation purposes, we propose a text mining architecture towards IBICT's framework, which leads to an IBICT's architecture, and an Interdisciplinary Research Project Management (IRPM) approach to determine IBICT's dimensions.
