A contractor or a main contractor is a company with full capacity to construct all project's works for the owner. A subcontractor is an organization that works with the main contractor to execute and complete work packages for the project. Selecting an effective subcontractor will help the efficiency and success of any projects in the construction industry. Therefore, this study identified subcontractor evaluation factors in Vietnam by collecting questionnaire survey data from engineers and staffs in the construction industry project environment. An exploratory factor analysis (EFA) was then performed to identify the critical factors when evaluating and selecting the subcontractor in construction projects. Moreover, when considering the impact level in terms of the average value, the research results showed that the most critical concern was the subcontractor's reputation. Furthermore, the top five factors affecting the sub-contractor evaluation and selection are (i) reputation, (ii) price, (iii) construction techniques, (iv) ability to implement projects according to commitments, and (v) subcontractor competence (the team of workers, technician staff, engineers with full capacity according to regulations). These research results provide an overall perspective that will help main contractors develop suitable subcontractors' evaluation and selection factors in their projects in the construction industry.
Mechanization and automation constitute an essential stage in the production and operation of any company, as one of the determinants of increase in labor productivity and decrease in product price, while significantly contributing to shortening of the lead time. Businesses are, therefore, able to quickly put projects into operation, improving economic efficiency, quality, and aesthetics, which speeds up the national economic growth. For the construction industry to be the most effective, modern construction equipment is a necessity. It is one of the five main resources of a construction project. Thus, effective construction equipment management contributes to the success of a project and benefits the relevant construction companies economically. This paper presents the critical risk factors affecting equipment management and proposes suitable solutions. The questionnaire-based survey with experienced experts in the construction sector on the management of the likelihood and consequence of risk factors revealed thirty-two risks for equipment management in construction companies. These factors fell into six groups: (i) site organization-related risks; (ii) management-related risks; (iii) owner-related risks; (iv) supplier-related risks; (v) legal risks, and (vi) site condition-related and external risks. The results showed that management-related factors contributed to the most significant risks and problems for equipment management in construction companies.

To facilitate existing procedures and improve decision making, a decision support system (SPK) needs to be built. This SPK aimed to determine the placement of workers abroad using the Simple Additive Weighting (SAW) method and supply chain process. This method was chosen because it is able to select the best alternative from a number of alternatives, in this case the alternative in question was someone who was entitled to receive Placement based on predetermined criteria. This research was conducted by looking for weight values for each individual. The Decision Support System produced was capable of ranking prospective Indonesian migrant workers and making it easier for BP3TKI to make decisions about Indonesian migrant workers by supply chain resource management for who will depart abroad.
Labor productivity is among the most critical factors that heavily impact the achievement of a construction projects. In construction sites, construction techniques, construction organization, human resource management, working conditions and worker personal characteristics have significant effects on the labor productivity. Formwork, among others, is a common task in every construction project. This paper presents the measurement of labor productivity by work sampling method for floor and beam formwork of high-rise buildings in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. The research identifies the proportion of time consumption for effective tasks, supportive tasks, and ineffective tasks of formwork as follows: 32%, 35%, and 33% respectively. In other words, the change in the proportion of ineffective work over periods of time through a working day enables a conclusion that the labor productivity of floor and beam formwork workers begins low, then increases gradually, and finally decreases toward the end of each working session.
This article discusses the arguments in favor of and against a right to mobility by considering human resource managements for the supply chains. It argues that contemporary migration and border policies are largely restrictive but still fail to meet their announced objectives which call for alternative approaches to international human resource management. From a human rights viewpoint, tight border controls are accompanied by major challenges; including trafficking, the refuge crisis, and the death and vulnerability of irregular migrants; which ultimately threaten the moral foundations of liberal democracies. In this context, a right to mobility may constitute a relevant answer and the article examines the implications of such a right in terms of supply chain management, social cohesion, economic wealth, security, and border/migration governance.
The supply chain management as the general tool can be used for supporting and delivering the goods to the villages. The village head is the leader of the village government. The tenure of the village head is 6 years, and can be extended for another one term is expected to run the government with a good performance in providing services to the community. So with the proper use of the supply chain the needs of the villages can be provide by the government. The Technique for Order Preference by Similarity to Ideal Solution (TOPSIS) method can help decision making in determining the performance index of the village head. This research is conduct by looking for the performance of positive and negative ideal solutions. Applications with the highest V value will occupy the top size in this system. Then the criteria in determining the performance index of the head of the village are: timeliness, discipline, responsibility, leadership, presence, value. The results of the decision-making system resulted in 6 alternative suggested performance indexes of village heads, with the highest score of Sending Agung Village.
World agriculture still faces challenges quite fundamental, it is about the quality issues and the increasing of competitiveness through productivity and the eficiency. This research focused on the criteria of best tomato types and how to apply the Simple Additive weighting method (SAW) into a Decision Support System (DSS) for election best quality tomato that can assist farmers in determining the best type of tomato for renewable energy and supply chain strategy, based on the criteria that have been chosen, such as: tomato size, tomato color, tomato shape and tomato disease. By using the application of Simple Additive weighting method into Decision Support Systems value, it can be concluded that V 5 is the best quality tomato and has a predicate value of 83.75 with the fragile values, as follows: 50-69 = Enough, 70-82 = Good, 83-100 = Best.
Catfish is one of the freshwater fish that can be maintained in the pond yard of the house or in the field. The growth of catfish is quite fast with high durability and easy to breed in various maintenance locations. This fish is one type of fish consumption that is enough in the know and in the interest in Indonesia. A lot of people who want to cultivate these fish and want to get qualified catfish seed. For that in deciding determination of qualified  catfish seed is needed for the continuity of breeding, to select the qualitfied catfish seed is needed some methods, one of the decision support system in selecting qualitfied catfish seed use SAW (simple additive weighting) method and efficient in the problems faced in this case study in order to obtain the high weight of various criteria that have been determined on the design process of decision support system. Benefits that can be obtained from using SAW method is to select and to decide for obtaning qualified fish seed without using too complicated ways.
Engineering project management includes a variety of content (e.g., time, cost, quality, resources, procurement, safety, environment, stakeholder management). However, identifying the right material suppliers in an engineering project in the construction industry is a difficult task. Material costs account for a significant proportion of the total costs of the engineering projects. The selection of a suitable material supplier is an essential decision for any engineering project managers. Notably, in engineering and construction projects, it is not an easy task, because many factors influence the material supplier evaluation. Assessing the importance of these factors is a dynamic and complex multi-criterion decision problem. Therefore, this paper presents the Fuzzy Analytical Hierarchy Process (F-AHP) method for prioritizing the material supplier selection criteria in engineering and construction companies in Vietnam.
A quality management process plays a vital role in the success of engineering and construction projects. The management process needs to be effective and efficient if projects are to be completed on time and within the project's budget. Many construction projects' quality management processes are paper-based, which makes them time-consuming and inefficient. The next generation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) is the BIM-cloud. The BIM-cloud can help to enhance the effectiveness of a quality management process; it can also save an organization time and money. This paper proposes a quality management model based on cloud computing, mobile devices, and the Autodesk BIM 360 Field software. This software functions as a platform for gathering, managing and controlling the quality of the management data. The process is then applied to a real project in Vietnam to verify the benefits and barriers of using the BIM 360 Field for a construction project.
