The present investigation was carried out with forty Niger genotypes at multi-environments for assessment of genotype x environment interaction and identification of high yielding and stable genotypes of Niger crop. Forty Niger genotypes were tested across five multi-environments in a randomized block design with replication thrice during Kharif, 2018 and Kharif, 2019. Combined analysis of variance and AMMI analysis of pooled data showed that genotype, environment and GEI effect were highly significant (p < 0.01) for seed yield. As per AMMI GGE biplots, two different mega-environments (METs) were identified, the first MET consists E1, E3 and E4 which are potential and excellent sites for discrimination of superior genotypes and second MET includes E2 and E5 were stable places. The genotypes, G28, G33, G8, G17, and G3 (seed yield plant-1), and G6, G33, G8, G17 and G3 (seed yield plot-1) were suitable for favorable environments while G4 and G7 (seed yield plant-1), and G27, G20, G1, G37 and G25 (seed yield plot-1) were suitable for unfavorable environments. Considering all the stability parameters and AMMI GGE biplots, genotypes, G36, G32, G24 and G10 had high mean seed yield and stable across the environments. These superior genotypes about grain yield and GEI impact, and can be recommended for future investigations.
The present investigation was conducted during the year 2023-2024. The experiment was conducted in randomized block design with seven treatments namely T1: Raised bed method, T2: Soil mound method, T3: Wooden log method, T4: Serpentine method, T5: Split halves of PVC method, T6: Modified serpentine method, T7: Trench method and each treatment were replicated four times. Among the various treatments studied, the treatment T4 (Serpentine method) recorded maximum number of cuttings per harvest, total number of cuttings harvested per year, sprouting percentage at 30 days after planting (DAP), survival percentage at 45 DAP.
The present Experiment was conducted at College of Horticulture, Dr. B.S.K.K.V., Dapoli, Dist. Ratnagiri (Maharashtra) during October-November of academic year 2023-2024. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design (RBD) in ten treatment and three replications. The findings showed that type ADBSKKVCOH -3 Pink had the maximum leaf area (8.61 cm2), caudex girth (22.33 mm) and survival percentage (86.67 %) also type ADBSKKVCOH-6 Dark Pink showed highest graft height (10.90 cm), maximum stem girth (9.46 mm) and number of leaves (17). Thus, type ADBSKKVCOH -3 Pink and ADBSKKVCOH -6 Dark Pink showed significant variation in growth parameters among all types.
The present investigation entitled “Response of Adenium (Adenium obesum) types to wedge grafting.” was conducted at College of Horticulture,Dr.B.S.K.K.V., Dapoli,Dist.Ratnagiri (Maharashtra) during October-November of academic year 2023-2024. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design (RBD) in ten treatment and three replications. The result revealed that early sprouting (11.47 days), number of sprout per plant (1.93), sprouting percentage (91.67 %) and survival percentage (86.67 %) maximum in type T3 (ADBSKKVCOH -3 Pink). Thus it can be observed that type T3 (ADBSKKVCOH -3 Pink) give significant result to sprouting as well as survival parameters by wedge grafting.
The field experiment was conducted during rabi season 2022 at Research and Education farm, Department of Agricultural Botany, College of Agriculture, Dapoli to evaluate the cowpea (Vigna unguiculata (L.) Walp) genotypes under water stress condition in Konkan region. The field experiment was laid out in strip plot design comprising five different water stress treatments with four genotypes replicated thrice. The result revealed that, the yield attributing characters of cowpea is highest in treatment T1 as compared other water stress treatment and when we consider about four different varieties, the variety V3 recorded highest yield attributing characters such as No. of pods per plant, No. of seeds per plant, 100 seed weight and harvest index.
Flowers are reproductive organs that convert photosynthetic assimilates into seeds when flowers are developed the yield of the tuber decreases. So, it’s prerequisite to pluck the flowers to increase the tuber yield [1] as well as its needs to find out suitable planting date for cultivation of yam bean in Konkan region. Therefore, an experiment on “Study the effect of planting dates and reproductive pruning on yield attributes of Yam bean (Pachyrrhizus erosus L.)” was conducted at Department of Vegetable Science, College of Horticulture, Dapoli, Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth, Dapoli during Kharif season of year 2023-24. Two factors were studied during the investigation using factorial randomized block design (p= .05) viz. Planting dates (D) i.e., D₁-1st week of June, D₂-3rd week of June, D3 -1st week of July, D4 -3rd week of July and Interval of reproductive pruning (P) i.e., P1 – Weekly, P2 – Fortnightly, P3 – No pruning. The results showed that weekly reproductive pruning (P1) with planting date 3rd week of June (D2) gave best effect and significantly affect the yield per plant (642.03 g), average weight of tuber (407.70 g),yield per hectare (12.90 t ha-1) and length and diameter of tuber (21.50 cm and 17.53 cm) respectively.
The present investigation entitled "Effect of Chitosan by seed priming and foliar application on growth and yield of Wal (Lablab purpureus L. Sweet) under water stress" was carried out at Research and Education farm, Department of Agricultural Botany, College of Agriculture, during the rabi 2021-22. Observations were recorded in context with phenological, morphological, physiological, biochemical and yield contributing parameters. There was a broad range of variability for the different morpho-physiological and biochemical characteristics among all treatments of chitosan under moisture stress. Among all interaction treatments P2F2 was found to be significantly superior reporting better performance in context with plant height, leaf area index, total chlorophyll content, number of pods and seed yield when compared with rest of the treatments. Thus, the current study revealed that the use of foliar spray of chitosan (200 ppm) along with seed priming with chitosan (2%) enhanced the yield of lablab bean grown under water stress condition.
The present study was conducted at Department of Floriculture department, College of Horticulture, Dr. Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth, Dapoli (MS.) during year 2019-2020. The growth parameters were recorded periodically at 30 days intervals and root parameter was recorded at the end of experiment. From the present investigation it was recorded that the highest shoot length (47.94 cm) was found in Ethrel @ 500 ppm and 19:19:19 @ 1%. The highest length of leaves (43.91 cm), width of leaves (10.36 cm), number of leaves (20.93) was observed in ethrel @ 500 ppm and urea @ 2%. The highest leaf area (705.23 cm2) and leaf area index (0.38) was obtained in @ 500 ppm and urea @ 2%.
The field experiment was carried out at College of Horticulture, Dapoli during the years 2019 and 2020 to assess the effect of planting season on sprouting and survival of bush pepper. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design with Seven treatments as month of propagation; January to July and replicated three times. The sprouting percent in bush pepper cutting plating in different season during 2019 and 2020. The treatment T6 i.e., planting in June 2020 registered maximum sprouting (91.33%) which was at par with the treatments T3. The lowest spouting percent (46.67%) was recorded in T1 (planting in January) which was at par with T2 (52.33%) i.e., planting in February. The significant difference was observed for survival percentage of bush pepper cutting planting in different season of both year of planting. The highest survival percentage (55.83%) was recorded in treatment T6 i. e. planting in June which was at par with the treatment T3 (48.33%).
The experiment was conducted at Department of Horticulture, College of Horticulture, Dr. Balasaheb Sawant konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth Dapoli (MS) during 2020-21 to study the effect of post-harvest treatments of different chemical and plant growth regulators on physical and chemical characteristics of sapota fruits cv. ‘Kalipatti’ during storage at ambient condition. Fast ripening of Sapota fruits during post-harvest stage results in their short shelf life which leads to deterioration of their quality. Among various chemicals, calcium has received considerable attention in recent year due to its desirable effects maintain the TSS, titratable acidity, reducing sugars, total sugars and ascorbic acids (Sharma et al ., 1996) [8] . The fruits were treated with calcium chloride 20000 ppm was found very effective in specific gravity (1.09), PLW (12.76 %), fruit firmness (0.81 kg/cm 2 ) and minimum spoilage fruit (56.74%). The qualitative parameters such as titratable acidity (0.08), maximum TSS (22.34 0 Brix), Reducing sugars (11.14 %), Total sugars (18.21 %) and ascorbic acid found (13.19 mg/100g) at 12 th day of storage period.
An investigation was carried out to evaluate ten varieties of gerbera (Gerbera jamesonii Bolus) viz. Stanza, Ankur, Danna Ellen, Brilliance, Balance, Silvester, Goliath, Dune, Intense, and Rosalin under protected cultivation at the High-Tech nursery, College of Horticulture, Dapoli, Ratnagiri (M.S.) during 2020-21. Among the varieties study, there were highly significant variations observed for flowering parameters. The significantly minimum days to first flower bud emergence (84.76 days), maximum flower stalk length (64.15 cm), flower diameter (99.59 cm), length of ray floret (4.81 cm), number of flowers per plant (22.00), flowers yield per ha (7.92 lakhs), vase life (9.67 days) and longevity of flowers in the field (11.33 days) were recorded in variety Ankur. The maximum flower disc diameter (2.41 cm) was recorded in a variety of Dune. Flower stalk diameter (5.98 cm), number of petals per flower (85.02) were recorded maximum in a variety Goliath. The maximum width of ray floret (8.96 cm) was observed in variety Balance.
The investigation entitled “Effect of Application of Organic Nutrients on Survival and Growth of Black Pepper Cuttings (Piper nigrum L.)” was undertaken at College of Horticulture, DBSKKV, Dapoli (M.S.) during the year 2020-2021. The experiment was conducted in Randomized Block Design (RBD) with ten treatments and three replications. The treatments comprises; T1-Vermiwash 10% drenching, T2-Vermiwash 15% drenching, T3-Vermiwash 20% drenching, T4-Cow urine 2.5% drenching, T5-Cow urine5% drenching, T6-Cow urine7.5% drenching, T7-Humic acid 0.1 drenching, T8 - Humic acid 0.2% drenching, T9-Humic acid 0.3%.drenching, T10-Control. The different treatments studied in which the treatment T6 (cow urine 7.5% drenching) recorded the highest survival per cent (88%), required minimum number of days for initial sprouting (19.33 days) improved success, survival of black pepper cuttings in comparison to control and other treatments.
The investigation was carried out to study the effect of sea proximity and soil variations on fruit quality and post-harvest behaviour of Alphonso mango. The physical parameters like length, breadth, weight and volume of fruit, specific gravity, skin thickness, pulp: stone, per cent weight of pulp, per cent weight of stone and per cent weight of peel and chemical parameters of the fruit such as total soluble solids, reducing sugars, total sugars, pH, titratable acidity and abscorbic acid content in fruit were investigated. The fruits were examined for their sensory qualities when they were ripe for accessing the colour, flavour and texture. The maximum length, breadth, volume of fruit, weight of fruit, weight of stone, skin thickness, skin weight, weight (ripe) and per cent weight of stone, and per cent weight of peel was observed at location away from the proximity to sea i.e. 25kms proximity to sea and the fruits obtained from plain land with good soil depth; while the maximum pulp: stone ratio and per cent weight of pulp was observed at location nearest to the sea i.e.
Groundnut is one of the world’s most popular crops cultivated in tropical and sub-tropical regions. Because of its high protein, oil, fatty acid, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals contents, groundnut has high commercial and nutritional value. It contains 45-55% oil, 2025% protein, 16-18% carbohydrate and 5% minerals (Gulluoglu, 2011; Gulluoglu, et al., 2016a). Groundnut (Arachis hypogea L.) the king of oilseed crops plays a vital role in the economy of national edible oil.
