Steam turbine for thermal power plants both for gas turbine combined cycle plants and conventional power plants are now facing strict market demands for high plant efficiency and saving plant initial cost. In these situation, the development of high performance bearing, which needs relatively small amount of lubricant oil and can be operated under high specific load, provide improvements of thermal heat balance due to minimization the bearing loss and cost saving by diminishing the capacity of lubricant oil system, should be one of the important technology for the next generation thermal power plant.
