Infectious diseases are conditions that can be brought on by a variety of different organisms, including bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites. Typhoid fever is an example of an infectious disease that frequently causes the body's defenses to come under attack. The fever associated with typhoid is a leading cause of death around the world. Infection with the bacterium Salmonella typhi is considered to be one of the potential causes of typhoid fever. When antibiotics are used to treat bacterial infections, there is a risk that the bacteria will become resistant to the medication. In day-to-day life, basil leaves are utilized both as a cooked vegetable and as a fresh vegetable. The antibacterial properties of kemangi leaves have yet to be fully uncovered. The purpose of this study was to investigate the various mechanisms that are involved in antibacterial activity. These mechanisms include cell leakage, minimum inhibitory concentration, minimum killing concentration, and antibiofilm activity. The minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) was determined with the agar diffusion method, the minimum biofilm forming concentration (MBC) was determined with the staining method, and cell leakage was determined with UV-VIS spectrophotometry at wavelengths of 260 nm (DNA) and 280 nm (protein). Additionally, the formation of anti-biofilms was determined with microtiter plates and gentian violet staining. In the moderate category, the MIC value tests showed a concentration of 0.3125% with an inhibition zone value of 6.80 0.05 mm. These results were obtained from the MIC value. Because there was no detectable bacterial growth on the streaked medium, KBM was obtained at a concentration of 10%. At wavelengths of 260 and 280 nanometers, leakage cells show absorbance absorption. The percentage of biofilm activity that is measured when the concentration is increased to 25% is 44.82%. In conclusion, the ethanol extract of basil leaves possesses a possible antibacterial mechanism against Salmonella typhi. This was discovered through testing.
Karenda leaves contain flavonoids, steroids or triterpenoids, saponins, and tannins that act as antimicrobial compounds. The aim of the study was to determine the antibacterial activity of the ethanol extract of Karenda leaves against several acne-causing bacteria. The research method involved characterizing the simplicia of karenda leaves and extract preparation by maceration using 96% ethanol as a solvent. and test the antibacterial activity of the ethanol extract of Karenda leaves using the agar diffusion method. The bacteria used were Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus epidermis. The extract concentrations used were 300, 150, 125, 100, 75, 50, 25, and 5 mg/mL. Based on tests carried out by the ethanol extract of karenda leaves, the diameters of the inhibition zones were 7.2 ± 0.12 respectively; 7.8±0.10; 9.7±0.15; 11.23±0.25; 12.43±0.06; 13.57±0.06; 14.20±0.10; 16.47 ± 0.21 for Propionibacterium acne and 8.17 ± 0.06; 9.37 ± 0.15; 9.80 ± 0.10; 10.73 ± 0.15; 11.27±0.12; 12.43±0.06; 13.77±0.06; 15.47 ± 0.12 for Staphylococcus epidermis. he test results proved that 300 mg/mL was the best concentration for inhibiting the growth of Propionibacterium acnes and Staphylococcus epidermis bacteria.
Green synthesis methods to synthesize nanoparticles using natural products can be used by utilizing plants or microorganisms. Poguntano ( Picria fel-terrae Lour.) or leaf kukurang is a plant from the family Scrophulariaceae. This study aimed to determine the antibacterial activity of silver nanoparticles of Poguntano aqueous extract. The antibacterial activity of silver nanoparticle water extract bacteria Staphylococcus epidermidis with extract concentrations of 20 mg/mL (12.43 ± 0.12), 10 mg/mL (11.50 ± 0.10) and 5 mg/mL (10.43 ± 0.12) can inhibit bacterial growth, Staphylococcus epidermidis at a concentration of 10 mg/mL, absorbance values at wavelengths of 260 nm and 280 nm were higher than the absorbance values at a concentration of 5 mg/mL. Staphylococcus epidermidis biofilm inhibition test shows that the results of the absorbance or OD measurement in the biofilm inhibition test using the silver nanoparticle of Poguntano extract, the OD value at a concentration of 10 mg/mL (0.367± 0.57) showed a biofilm inhibition result of 45.24 % greater than the concentration of 5 mg/mL which is 0.510 ± 0.54 with a biofilm inhibition result of 23.77%, this indicates that the greater the attention of the extract, the smaller the biofilm formation of Staphylococcus epidermidis bacteria.
Multidrug-resistant bacteria have raised global concern about the inability to fight deadly infectious diseases. Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa are the most common resistant bacteria that are causing hospital infections. The present study was undertaken to investigate the synergistic antibacterial effect of the ethyl acetate fraction of Vernonia amygdalina Delile leaves (EAFVA) with tetracycline against the clinical isolates MRSA and P. aeruginosa. Microdilution was used to establish the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC). A checkerboard assay was conducted for the interaction effect. Bacteriolysis, staphyloxanthin, and a swarming motility assay were also investigated. EAFVA exhibited antibacterial activity against MRSA and P. aeruginosa with a MIC value of 125 μg/mL. Tetracycline showed antibacterial activity against MRSA and P. aeruginosa with MIC values of 15.62 and 31.25 μg/mL, respectively. The interaction between EAFVA and tetracycline showed a synergistic effect against MRSA and P. aeruginosa with a Fractional Inhibitory Concentration Index (FICI) of 0.375 and 0.31, respectively. The combination of EAFVA and tetracycline induced the alteration of MRSA and P. aeruginosa, leading to cell death. Moreover, EAFVA also inhibited the quorum sensing system in MRSA and P. aeruginosa. The results revealed that EAFVA enhanced the antibacterial activity of tetracycline against MRSA and P. aeruginosa. This extract also regulated the quorum sensing system in the tested bacteria.
Vernonia amygdalina Delile leaves contain secondary metabolites that prevent heart disease. This study aims at demonstrating the cardiotonic effect of various ethanolic extracts obtained with simplicia powder of African leaf. In this direction, we tested the effect of African leaf ethanolic extract on normal rat heart isolates and determined its effect on heart contractility and heart rate. The results showed that the highest cardiac glycoside content in the ethanolic extract obtained by reflux extraction was 30.05 +/- 0.13 mg/g. In an inotropic test, the same extract with a concentration of 1 mg/mL increased contractility by 74.02%, and regarding the chronotropic test, an 22.68% increase was observed. African leaf ethanolic extract (from Vernonia amygdalina Delile), obtained using reflux method, with a 1 mg/mL concentration, exhibited positive inotropic and chronotropic activity.
Achieving a healthy lifestyle requires a series of consistent steps, such as regular exercise, eating healthy and nutritious foods, getting enough rest, implementing a clean and healthy lifestyle, and consuming vitamins to boost external immunity. There is also concern about improving the health of children and adolescents, especially children who may have a minimal immune system that needs to be strengthened. The purpose of this activity is to provide education and counseling on how to live a clean and healthy lifestyle and to provide knowledge to children about the use of vitamins. The method of this activity is that children are first given questions for a pre-test about a clean and healthy lifestyle and vitamins, then present the material and close it with a post-test. As a result, only 8,57% of the students knew what a healthy lifestyle and vitamins were at the time of the pre-test. After the presentation of the material, the increase in children's knowledge increased by an average of 86,1%. The activity's conclusion is that it can teach children about living a healthy lifestyle and consuming vitamins. .
Background: The use of herbal plants is adopted as a traditional medicine because of their minimal side effects. Most plants have bioactive ingredients and nutritional content that can potentially be used as treatments. One plant that has the potential to be a source of modern medicine is Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC. Historically the use of traditional medicine as a treatment has enjoyed a good sense of trust among the public. The purpose of this study was to perform a qualitative phytochemical screening and proximate analysis of samples of Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC. Methods: Used in this study were the phytochemical screening test using the thin-layer chromatography method and the proximate analysis using the AOAC method, which included measuring the ash, water, carbohydrate, total fat, protein, and crude fiber content of the samples. Hydrodistillation was used to isolate volatile oil from the sample, which was then identified using gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. The research method used is experimental. Results: From the test, it was found that the phytochemical content of Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC is alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, glycosides, steroids, and triterpenoids. Proximate analysis obtained ash content of 6.19%, water content of 6.35%, carbohydrates of 35.4%, total fat of 2.46%, protein of 16.2%, and crude fiber of 33.4%. Mineral test results prove that Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC contains Pb (<0.07 mg/Kg), Cd (<0.03 mg/Kg), As (<0.03 mg/Kg), Hg (0.0011 mg/Kg), Mn (43.1 mg/Kg), K (321 mg/Kg), Ca (0.22 mg/Kg), Mg (198 mg/Kg), Fe (52.1 mg/Kg), and Na (23.6 mg/Kg). The highest content of essential oil in Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC is geranyl acetate, with a concentration of 24.26%. Conclusions: This study concludes that the research findings of Zanthoxylum acanthopodium DC indicate that the phytochemical, mineral, and volatile oil content of the sample is strongly related to its potential to be developed as food and medicine.
Abstrack The miana leaves (Coleus scutellarioides L.) contain flavonoids that can provide specific dyes. The purpose of the study was to formulate miana leaf extract in lip cream preparations as natural dyes. The use of natural lip cream dyes is a solution to overcome the problem of synthetic lip cream dyes. One of the plants such as the miana leaves contains secondary metabolites, one of which is flavonoids which can provide dyes. The natural colors found in miana leaves can be used as natural dyes in cosmetics. The purpose of the study was to determine at what concentration the miana leaves produced the most optimal physical quality of color in the preparation of lip cream. The method of the research includes the manufacture of ethanol extract of miana leaves (Coleus scutellarioides L.) by maceration for 5 days with 96% ethanol solvent and followed by remeseration with the same solvent. The extract formulas used were 5%, 10%, and 15%. The evaluations included organoleptic, homogeneity test, physical test, pH test, irritation test and color preference test. The results of the lip cream preparation, the results of the organoleptic examination were declared to have a semi-solid dosage form, a distinctive odor and varied colors F1, cream color, F2 salmon red, F3 brick red, homogeneity examination results were declared homogeneous, the results of observation of the preparation did not state that there was no change on the shape, color and odor of the preparation, the average pH test results were 4.1, the test results were declared non-irritating, the result of the color preference of the three formulas that the panelists preferred was a concentration of 15% because the color was clear and very soft. Miana leaf ethanol extract can be made as a colorant in lip cream preparations.

If probiotics are consumed in combination with prebiotics, they will have a synergistic effect called "synbiotics" and will increase the benefits of probiotics. One of the causes of acne is due to a bacterial infection such as Propionibacterium acnes during adolescent puberty. Empirical studies of secondary metabolites contained in Cep-cepan leaves have potential as promising antimicrobials. The main objective of this study was to determine the antibacterial activity of the ethanolic extract of Cep-cepan leaves formulated into a gel preparation against the bacteria Propionibacterium acnes that causes acne. This research method was carried out experimentally where the ethanol extract of cep-cepan leaves was formulated into a gel preparation consisting of (F1) control blank; (F2) 0.5%, (F3) 1%, (F4) 1.5% and positive control (Mediklin). The results of the evaluation of gel preparations at concentrations of 0.5%, 1%, and 1.5% were physically stable during storage at room temperature, homogeneous, and pH. Based on the results of testing the antibacterial activity of gel preparations in inhibiting bacterial growth at a concentration of 0.5% with an average inhibition zone diameter of 11.33 mm, a concentration of 1% with a value of 15.66 mm, a concentration of 1.5% with a value of 19.5 mm. The conclusion of this study is that the ethanol extract of cep-cepan leaves has promising antibacterial activity in the form of a gel formulation.
The avocado (Persea americana Mill.) is a fruit that is often found. This versatile fruit has many benefits for humans. The benefits of avocado are as anti-hyperlipidemic, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anticonvulsant, hypoglycemic, hypercholesterolemic, wound healing and prevent cancer. The aims of this study was to make avocado seed methanol extract into a gel preparation and to determine the effect of avocado seed methanol extract gel and at what concentration the effective treatment for wounds in mice and its comparison with Star Ag gel as a positive control. The research was conducted using an experimental method. The manufacture of avocado seed methanol exstract was carried out by maceration method using methanol as a solvent. The result of the study were statistically analyzed using One Way Anova. The result of the data analysis at a concentration of 5% obtained a sig value <0,05. Based on One Way Anova analysis of the five treatments, the most effective was avocado seed methanol extract gel with a concentration of 5%.

Miana leaf ethanol extract can be made as a colorant in lip cream preparations.
Diarrhea is discharge of abnormal and liquid stool with a frequency of 3-4 daily which caused by pathogenic organisms such as Escherichia coli, and other. Dengke Naniura is a traditional Batak Toba food that can produce probiotics (Lactobacillus fermentum). Probiotics are defined as live microorganisms that confer a health benefit on the host. Nutritional supplements combined between probiotics and prebiotics are called synbiotics, The purpose of this study was to analyze the preventive effect of diarrhea in rats given L.fermentum for 21 days. The preventive effect of diarrhea test begins with the giving of L.fermentum from day 1 to day 21. From day 7 to day 14 rats were induced with E.coli. Weight of the rats, stool consistency, onset of diarrhea, frequency of diarrhea, and duration of diarrhea were observed. The results of the observation that weight of rats in the L.fermentum group increased compared to group 1 (p<0.05). Consistency stool is soft (massless). Onset of diarrhea on day 1 after induced of E.coli in the group 1. Frequency of diarrhea increased to 9.25 ± 0.50 times on day 14 (group 1). And diarrhea occurs for 10 days. Conclusion L.fermentum showed a preventive effect of diarrhea in rats induced E.coli.
Most ageing processes are accelerated due to an increasing amount of endogenic stress from outdoor or indoor activity overload. The essence of aloe vera is formulated in the form of a biocellulose mask. It is one of the solutions to deliver essence within polymeric substances, obtained through the fermentation process with the help of Acetobacter xyllinum. The aim of this study is to enhance anti-ageing activity derived from Aloe vera (L) essence combined with vitamin E, thus in the form of a biocellulose mask that will prolong skin contact and reduce the main cotton sheet mask problem of deforestation, hence its eco-friendly benefit. Material and methods: Twelve volunteers around 25 to 45 years old are subjected to a biocellulose mask containing Aloe vera essence combined with vitamin E for at least 4 weeks to achieve a balanced skin criterion including wrinkles, spots, facial pores, and moisture. Aloe vera and vitamin E constituents within F0; F1, F2; F3, [0%, 0%]; [0%, 1%]; [5%, 0 %] and [5 %, 1 %] as per the following. Results: Results showed that bio-cellulose masks containing 5 % Aloe vera with 1 % of vitamin E essence in F3 provide a beneficial anti-ageing activity rather than other biocellulose mask preparations. Conclusion: Biocellulose mask through the fermentation process can improve skin conditions, the formula combined with the well-known activity of aloe vera as an exfoliating agent and antioxidant vitamin E, it can not only provide skin rejuvenation but also provide anti-ageing activity

The incidence of anemia in pregnant women carries a great risk because the fetus's need for iron and oxygen supply during development requires iron. This community service activity aims to examine and administer anemia drugs or blood boosters to pregnant women and provide education related to anemia and important nutritional intake for pregnant women to prevent risk factors for anemia. A total of 36 pregnant women patients checked themselves, with 12 in the first trimester, 15 in the second trimester, and 9 in the third trimester. A total of 7 people in the first trimester experienced anemia (19.44%), 10 people in the second trimester (27.77%), and 5 people in the third trimester (13.88%). The rest do not have anemia. This can be due to the fact that the intake of balanced nutrition and foods rich in iron is sufficient during pregnancy. Iron intake during pregnancy in the first trimester is recommended at as much as 0.8 mg/day, while in the second and third trimesters, as much as 6.3 mg/day. Thus, it is hoped that the imparted knowledge and information will be adhered to in order to limit the risk of anemia in pregnant women so that the process of pregnancy until birth will proceed without incident.
Pseudomonas aeruginosa is a Gram-negative bacterium that can cause nosocomial infections. The use of antibiotics in the treatment of non-adherent P. aeruginosa infections increases the risk of antibiotic resistance. Efforts to find new antibiotic compounds from plants continue to be carried out. Papaya leaves are widely spread among the public, which are often used as ingredients for vegetables and have antibacterial potential because they contain papain enzymes and a class of flavonoid compounds. The purpose of this study was to analyze the antibacterial activity of the ethanol extract of papaya leaves (Carica papaya Linn.) against P. aeruginosa by finding the value of the Minimum Inhibitory Concentration (MIC) and calculating the index activity value against the positive control. The method used in this research is Kirby-Bauer (disc diffusion method) with several variations of the test concentration. The results showed that the diameter of the inhibition zone at a concentration of 500 mg/mL was in the strong category with an inhibition zone diameter of 10.87 ± 0.06 mm. MIC at a concentration of 3.125 mg/mL. The index activity value was greatest at a concentration of 500 mg/mL with a value of 0.668. So it can be concluded that the ethanol extract of papaya leaves (Carica papaya Linn.) has inhibitory activity against Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
Infectious disease is a serious health problem in the world of health. Escherichia coli causes diarrhea, Salmonella typhi causes typhoid fever, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa causes nosocomial infections which are Gram-negative pathogenic bacteria. Treatment with antibiotics is the therapy that is currently used, but other efforts in the use of herbal medicines are also being carried out in various studies. The purpose of this study was to analyze the antibacterial activity of the ethanolic extract of avocado leaves (Persea americana Mill.) against Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhi, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The method used is agar diffusion (Kirby-Bauer) with variations in the concentration of the test solution. The results showed that at a concentration of 500 mg/mL the three bacteria had an inhibition zone diameter of Escherichia coli with a value of 12.37±0.15 mm, Salmonella typhi with a value of 11.60±0.20 mm and Pseudomonas aeruginosa with a value of 10.87±0.15 mm. The ethanol extract of avocado leaves (Persea americana Mill.) showed antibacterial activity against three Gram-negative pathogenic bacteria.

Diarrhea is the discharge of liquid or watery stools 3 to 4 times a day caused by a bacterial infection. Treatments for diarrhea are probiotics, which have a beneficial effect on the health of the host such as antibacterial. Traditional Batak Toba fermented food, Dengke Naniura, is a source of probiotics. This study aimed to determine the minimum inhibitory concentration, minimum bactericidal concentration, and leakage of DNA and protein from lactic acid bacteria against pathogens. Isolation of LAB was obtained from Dengke Naniura by pour plate method on deMann Rogosa and Sharpe Agar + CaCO3 1%. In this study, Characterization and analysis of bacterial sequencing used Polymerase Chain Reaction. Determination of MIC used the agar diffusion method. The MBC test used the streaking method which was a stroke from the inhibition zone formed. DNA and protein leakage was measured using spectrophotometry UV-VIS (260nm and 280nm). The isolation results obtained were Lactobacillus fermentum, the characterization showed that the bacteria were Gram-positive, bacilli, non-sporing, catalase-negative, and able to ferment sugar. The MIC determination was obtained at a concentration of 10%v/v with a clear zone diameter. Determination of MBC against pathogens was obtained at different concentrations. The results of DNA and protein leakage showed an increased absorption (260nm and 280nm).
