A 3 TeV superconducting proton synchrotron has been chosen as the basis for the IHEP accelerating and storage complex (UNK). The UNK project envisages future development of the colliding beam facility. The UNK basic parameters have been reported in previous papers1−2). This report will present the changes in the project as well as the progress attained in the design of some systems.
As the field of application of high current electron beams broadens it is necessary that accelerators with a wide range of beam parameters both in current, voltage and duration should be designed.
The very fact of HCEB use includes real prospects in solving a number of problems facing physics today. HCEB accelerators have been developed for thermonuclear studies at the D.V.Efremov Institute with pulse lengths from tens of nanosecond to hundreds of microseconds.
