Although UTIs are among the most common urologic complications of neurogenic lower urinary tract dysfunction (NLUTD), retroperitoneal abscesses are rare clinical manifestations. Herein we present our experience in diagnosis and management of such cases.

Neuroendocrine cells of the prostate are regulatory cells containing biogenic amines and one or more neuropeptides such as chromogranin A (CgA). In this study we evaluate the clinical usefulness of serum CgA for monitoring prostate cancer. CgA levels was correlated to serum Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) levels, bone scan and pathological Gleason score.

The prognosis of bladder cancer has to be considered poor. Tissue polypeptide antigen (TPA) is present in the proteolytic fragments of cytokeratins 8, 18 and 19 as a component of the cytoskeleton of nonsquamous epithelia. The aim of this study were to determine the clinical usefulness of TPA in ser and urine as a tumour marker for the diagnosis of bladder cancer in comparison with conventional urine cytology.

Indinavirsulfat (Crixivan®) ist ein Proteaseinhibitor, der seit 1996 erfolgreich bei der Behandlung HIV-positiver Patienten eingesetzt wird. Etwa 10% aller Patienten entwickeln unter Indinavirtherapie Harnsteine aus reinem Indinavir, die röntgenologisch in der konventionellen Abdomenübersichtsaufnahme und in der Nativspiralcomputertomographie nichtschattengebend sind. Anhand 20 eigener Patienten sollen Behandlung und Prophylaxe der durch Indinavir bedingten Urolithiasis dargestellt werden.
