1.1. Neohetramine, a new antihistaminic drug, has been found to have good antihistaminic and good antianaphylactic (in vivo) properties.2.2. Toxicity studies were carried out on seventeen patients in whom blood counts, urinalyses, blood pressure readings, electrocardiograms, and some electroencephalograms were done.3.3. Whealing studies were done which portrayed the inhibiting action of the drug.4.4. Spirometric studies were carried out on twenty-one patients with bronchial asthma.5.5. Clinically Neohetramine was found to be of as much value as the other antihistaminic drugs in the treatment of allergic states.
Using the iontophoretic technics it was observed that pyribenzamine hy-drochloride inhibited histamine wheal formation in the human skin whereas sodium chloride, ephedrine hydrochloride, ephedrine sulphate and procaine hydrochloride failed to produce this effect in the concentrations used.
