With the increasing of energy conservation design standard,the thermal designs of staircase are further strengthened.In the practice,the outside envelope and inside partition wall are both done with thermal insulation.Thermal balance equations based on a staircase were given.The heat consumption with different thermal designs of the staircase in residential buildings of multilayer clay hollow block masonry structure was discussed.The results show that heating systems needn't be set in the staircase,and only strengthening the thermal insulation of the staircase outside envelope may obtain good comprehensive benefit.
