Andrea's research investigates how the design of visual media and digital technologies can influence (for better or worse) the ways in which people think, feel, and behave. Her current area of focus is on the design and use of interactive data-driven technologies (e.g., data-visualisation dashboards, AI-enabled decision aids) to support complex decision making and community interconnectedness in the domains of medicine and climate change/sustainability.
Andrea's future work seeks to extend this line of enquiry, looking at how such technologies can support coordinated decision-making and climate action in larger community networks and the role of young people as change-leaders in these communities. In the domain of medicine, she plans to investigate how similar AI-enabled data-driven technologies can facilitate patients' treatment decision-making and connect patients with similar experiences.
