Our research interest is characterization of native rhizobia associated with indigenous legumes of arid regions of Indian Thar desert, Phylogenetic relationship, their promiscuity, host range analysis, localization of microsymbiont in root nodules through GFP and identifying drought tolerant genes. Whole genome sequencing, comparative and functional genomics are of current interest. Our group now extended work on exploration and characterization of microsymbionts associated with native and exotic legumes of North-Eastern regions of India. The characterization is mainly based on phenotypic as well as molecular level including MLSA studies and sym gene phylogeny. Research funding is from UGC, DST and DBT.
