Marcus Duelk (S’96) received the Graduate degree in physics (high-power solid state lasers and nonlinear optics) from the Technical University of Berlin, Berlin, Germany, in 1995, and the Ph.D. degree in high-speed mode-locked external cavity lasers with semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs) from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich, Zurich, Switzerland, in 2000.
For several years, he was with Bell Labs/Lucent Technologies, Crawford Hill, NJ, USA, were he was involved in various fields of high-speed optical packet switching, high-speed electrical backplane transmission, and real-time packet processing systems for next-generation Internet transport nodes. By the end of 2007, he joined EXALOS, Schlieren, Switzerland, as a Chief Technology Officer, where he has been heading the development of broadband superluminescent light-emitting diode and SOA devices, advanced original equipment manufacturer (OEM) electronics, swept sources, balanced receivers and OCT data processing electronics.
Dr. Duelk was also a member of various international standards bodies like IEEE, International Telecommunication Union (ITU-T), or the Ethernet Alliance for the formation of 100-Gigabit Ethernet.
