Marco Grassi (S'04–M'06) was born in Pavia, Italy, in 1976. He received the Laurea degree in electronic engineering from the University of Pavia, Italy, in 2002, and the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the same institution in 2006.
During 2001 he worked at Texas Instruments Inc., Dallas, TX, as an internship co-op in the Data Converters Group designing high speed and high resolution circuits for pipelined ADCs. In 2002 he joined the Integrated Microsystems Laboratory of the University of Pavia as a Ph.D. candidate. In 2002–2003 he designed high linearity sample and hold circuits and fast recovery voltage buffers for switched capacitor data converters. In 2003 he was also interested in characterization and testing techniques for Nyquist-rate and oversampled ADCs. Since 2004 his research activity has been mainly focused on smart sensor interfaces, especially in terms of resistance measurement techniques development for gas-sensors arrays. For this application in 2004 he fully designed and characterized a prototype chip in a first National Government funded Project, while in 2005–2006 he developed a second integrated solution for gas-sensor interfacing in a new National Project. He is the author of two papers in international journals and author of about 10 papers presented at international conferences (with published proceedings).
