The standard cosmological analysis with the Lycx forest relies on a continuum fitting procedure that suppresses information on large scales and distorts the three-dimensional correlation function on all scales. In this work, we present the first cosmological forecasts without continuum fitting distortion in the Lycx forest, focusing on the recovery of large-scale information. Using idealized synthetic data, we compare the constraining power of the full shape of the Lycx forest auto-correlation and its cross-correlation with quasars using the baseline continuum fitting analysis versus the true continuum. We find that knowledge of the true continuum enables a similar to 10% reduction in uncertainties on the Alcock-Paczy & nacute;ski (AP) parameter and the matter density, ohm m. We also explore the impact of large-scale information by extending the analysis up to separations of 240 h-1Mpc along and across the line of sight. The combination of these analysis choices can recover significant large-scale information, yielding up to a similar to 15% improvement in AP constraints. This improvement is analogous to extending the Lycx forest survey area by similar to 40%.
With the proliferation of accessible machine learning tools, there is a pressing need for ethical frameworks within Digital Humanities. Although traditional source criticism is well established, Digital Humanities require a digital source criticism that considers both the historical sources themselves and the data creation process. Often misunderstood as solely gender-focused, Data Feminism provides such a toolkit for addressing bias and ethics. This working paper discusses how these principles originally focused on data science can be adapted to everyday Digital Humanities practice. It provides both theoretical grounding and practical examples, including a case study from our own work, demonstrating the relevance and application of Data Feminist principles for Digital Humanities.
The Mongols played a decisive role in the history of the Rus’ principalities, but the extent of this role varied from place to place. While in the Vladimir–Suzdal region the Mongol influence was very strong, for the Galician–Volhynian princes an alternative was provided by the Polish, Hungarian and Lithuanian neighbourhoods. The western alternative seemed to be a successful option under Daniil and his brother Vasilko, but the members of the next generation (e.g. Lev Danilovich) relied on only one of the three neighbours in their struggles. In the second half of thirteenth century, Galicia–Volhynia became a buffer zone at the frontier regions of the three power centres.
Poster presentation at the 5th NFDI4Culture Community Plenary in the Academy of Sciences and Literature in Mainz from 24th-26th September 2025. International cooperation is a major strategic priority in the second project phase of NFDI4Culture. The focus will be placed on international knowledge and technology exchange, close collaboration with research infrastructures abroad, and amongst others active contributions to open GLAM platforms. With this aim, a liaison agency for international cooperation is being established within NFD4Culture. Its purpose is to assist consortium members by coordinating, incentivising, and monitoring international collaborative activities.
