The Narayana's cows sequence (Nm m >= 0 and the Tribonacci sequence (Tn n >= 0 are respectively the sequences A000930 and A00073 in the OIES system satisfying respectively the recurrence relations: Nm 3N m 2 for N m integers 0tm (1) with initial terms N0 N 1 N 2 1and Tn 3T n 2 T for n 1 T n integers 0tn (2) with initial termsT 0 T 1 0and T2 .1 In this paper, our aim is to solve the equationN m ,n T where m and n are positive integers.
Medical diagnosis systems frequently rely on structured information collected during physician-patient interviews. These data naturally follow a hierarchical organization, where general questions are followed by more specific sub-questions. Such a structure should be explicitly incorporated into similarity measures used in classification algorithms, as it reflects dependencies between symptoms and contributes essential diagnostic information. In this work, we introduce a kernel that simultaneously accounts for (i) the hierarchical structure linking main questions to their subordinate items and (ii) interactions among sub-variables. The kernel is integrated into the pgpDA classification framework, allowing the method to embed prior knowledge on how variables are organized and how symptoms interact. The proposed kernel is designed for binary data arranged in two-level tree structures and supports interaction modeling of any given order. Experiments conducted on simulated data and a real verbal autopsy dataset from Senegal demonstrate consistent improvements over classical kernels, and a deep-learning benchmark confirms that the structured kernel retains strong predictive power even in modern architectures. The methodology may be extended to mixed data types or adapted to graph-structured symptom networks.
Higher education is the foundation on which all societies must build a highly-skilled workforce capable of fully supporting the needs of businesses in diverse economic, social and cultural sectors. It is the basis for acquiring and developing the skills needed to participate in the global economy and encourage innovation. Universities represent structures capable of promoting economic growth and competitiveness. To enable learners to acquire these skills, many higher education establishments use educational technologies and telecoms tools. With this in mind, in this article we have proposed remediation through E-learning and Service Learning to enable, among other things, learners who are on conditional passage to be able to follow the teaching of the constituent elements of a course they have not validated. This remediation through E-learning and Service Learning will be led by advanced students. They will use technologies such as Zeroconf, VPN and IPTV to make it easier for learners to use distance learning resources and platforms.
Bush fires are a major ecological process in the Sahelian savannahs, but their intensification linked to climate change represents a growing threat to ecosystems and societies. The objective of this study is to model and project the risk of fire in north-eastern Senegal by 2050. To do this, we used climate data (precipitation, temperature, wind), vegetation indices (SAVI) and fire occurrences from VIIRS Active Fire products (2012–2024), integrated into a random forest model. The results show a high concentration of fires in the departments of Ranérou and Kanel, where burned areas are increasing significantly (+ 2,000 to + 4,000 ha/year), in line with biomass availability. Precipitation appears to be the main determinant, while temperature increases flammability and wind has a locally moderating effect. Projections indicate a generalised increase in risk across the region for the SSP2-4.5 and SSP5-8.5 climate scenarios, with annual burned areas likely to exceed 60,000 hectares. These results confirm the high vulnerability of north-eastern Senegal to climate change and highlight the need for integrated strategies for prevention, adaptation and sustainable fire management.
