Ischemic acute kidney injury (AKI) remains a major clinical challenge, characterized by high morbidity, mortality, and a substantial risk of progression to chronic kidney disease. Accumulating evidence indicates that ischemic AKI is not merely a transient hemodynamic disorder but a complex, biologically orchestrated process driven by microvascular dysfunction, innate immune activation, inflammatory signaling, and maladaptive tissue repair. Despite advances in supportive care, effective disease-modifying therapies are still lacking. Recent studies have highlighted that key signaling pathways, including Toll-like receptor/nuclear factor-κB (TLR/NF-κB), Janus kinase/signal transducer and activator of transcription (JAK/STAT), purinergic P2X7 receptor–inflammasome signaling, heat-shock protein–mediated stress responses, and phosphoinositide 3-kinase/Akt/mammalian target of rapamycin (PI3K/Akt/mTOR) cascades, govern the initiation, amplification, and resolution of ischemic renal injury. These pathways converge on downstream cellular effectors such as cell adhesion molecules (CAMs), which orchestrate leukocyte recruitment, endothelial-epithelial interactions, and spatial propagation of inflammation within the renal microvasculature. Natural compounds have emerged as promising therapeutic candidates for ischemic AKI due to their pleiotropic pharmacological properties and ability to modulate multiple pathogenic signaling networks simultaneously. A growing body of experimental evidence demonstrates that polyphenols, glycosides, saponins, and related phytochemicals attenuate ischemic renal injury by suppressing inflammatory signaling, reducing CAM expression, preserving microcirculatory integrity, and promoting adaptive repair. Furthermore, advances in nanocarrier-based delivery systems have substantially enhanced the translational potential of these compounds by improving bioavailability, renal targeting, and pathway-specific modulation. In this review, we provide a comprehensive, signaling-centered analysis of ischemic AKI pathogenesis and systematically map natural compounds to their molecular targets and downstream inflammatory effectors. By integrating mechanistic insights with emerging nanotherapeutic strategies, this work offers a structured framework for the rational development of multi-target, mechanism-based interventions for ischemic AKI. It highlights key challenges and future directions for clinical translation.
In this work, silver–copper oxide (Ag–CuO) nanoparticles were incorporated into polyethylene oxide/carboxymethyl cellulose (PEO/CMC) blend to tailor its structural, dielectric, and electrical properties. A constant content of Ag nanoparticles of 0.3
This study evaluated the chronic sublethal toxic effects of chlorpyrifos on growth performance, oxidative status, and immune function in African catfish (Clarias gariepinus). A total of 180 fish (21.8 ± 1.15 g) were allocated into four groups—control, CPF (0.24 mg/L; 1/10 of the 96-h LC₅₀), CPF + CV (2
Abstract Early detection of emotional imbalance in cancer patients is essential for delivering timely and appropriate supportive care for such people. Cancer presents not only a severe physical challenge but also a profound emotional burden for patients and caregivers. However, existing research has inadequately explored these emotional experiences, often relying on small, limited, or less accurate datasets that fail to capture the full complexity of mental health challenges. As an assistive way for such direction, this study addresses this problem by collecting and using a novel dataset that includes 10,087 online posts collected from various social media platforms such as Reddit, Daily Strength, and Health Boards. To our knowledge, this is the first study to apply advanced NLP techniques to this specific dataset. As the previous research suffers from small size datasets, which may lead to inaccurate and inconsistent results, we implement advanced preprocessing and data augmentation techniques, including Simple Augmenter, Word2Vec, GloVe, and back translation. These techniques greatly improve the dataset’s quality and diversity, leading to a better consistent dataset. Several machine learning models, including Logistic Regression, Linear Support Vector Classifier, and artificial neural networks, are utilized to detect the mental health condition of the patients through this dataset. Logistic Regression achieved the highest accuracy of 97.9%, which is a significant improvement compared to earlier methods. By leveraging a richer dataset and refined analytical methods, this work provides more accurate insights into the emotional and psychological needs of cancer patients and caregivers, filling a critical gap in the literature in this direction.
Abstract Background Fast food is a highly prevalent choice of diet for Female university students because of its convenience and Affordability. Whichever the reason, good nutrition is vital for the best health and well-being. The issue is that, although the adequate intake of nutrients is crucial to health, relying too much on fast foods can lead to poor health consequences. The eating behavior of university women is usually influenced by social influences, time constraints, and financial limitations. This study investigated factors correlating with fast-food consumption and their relation to identity formation among 385 female university students in Egypt. Methods A mixed-methods approach was used involving both survey and focus group techniques. These methods involved A survey that included participants’ sociodemographic, eating habits, fast food knowledge, and attitudes about consumption; control perception related behaviors; subjective norms; and intentions. Results showed moderate awareness regarding risk factors associated with fast food (mean = 5.37 ± 1.74), though 67.8% considered fast food to be tasty. That awareness of health risks does not necessarily diminish its appeal. Attitudes toward fast food are moderately favorable (mean = 92.63 ± 15.06), though 57% believe fast food causes obesity. There was a significant relationship between perceived behavioral control (mean = 58.39 ± 9.47), which was influenced by craving and lack of time (p < 0.01). The subjective norms indicated that 74.3% considered family members’ approval important (p < 0.05). The result showed that intentions to reduce fast food behavior are moderately favorable (mean = 30.22 ± 3.52). The result showed that obese subjects scored high values for all constructs compared to nonobese subjects (p < 0.01). Family income was found to positively correlate with values for all constructs (p < 0.05), though there was no significant association between parental education (p > 0.05). High values positively associated with attitude (r = 0.826), attitude (r = 0.331), perceived behavioral control (r = 0.202), and subjective norms (r = 0.253), which indicated association between attitude and intention (p < 0.001), attitude and intention (p < 0.01), perceived behavioral control (p < 0.05), subjective norms (p < 0.01), respectively. Conclusion From these results, it appears that interventions based on attitude, perceived behavioral control, or social influences—focusing on self-efficacy-enhancing or socially influenced eating behavior—may prove to be more effective in encouraging healthier eating behaviors in female university-age students.
