The Indonesian Institute of Sciences (Indonesian: Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia, or LIPI) was the governmental authority for science and research in Indonesia. It consists of 47 research centers in the fields ranging from social to natural sciences. With the enactment of Presidential Decree No. 33/2021 on 5 May 2021, LIPI was disbanded along with government research agencies such as Agency of Assessment and Application of Technology (Indonesian: Badan Pengkajian dan Penerapan Teknologi, BPPT), National Nuclear Energy Agency (Indonesian: Badan Tenaga Nuklir Nasional, BATAN), and National Institute of Aeronautics and Space (Indonesian: Lembaga Penerbangan dan Antariksa Nasional, LAPAN). All of those agencies fused into the newly formed National Research and Innovation Agency (Indonesian: Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional, BRIN).Currently the disbandment process is still on process and expected to be finished on 1 January 2022.On 1 September 2021, LIPI finally dissolved as independent agency and transformed into four Technical Implementing Organizations of BRIN: Engineering Science Research Organization, Earth Sciences Research Organization, Life Sciences Research Organization, and Social and Humanities Research Organization), indicating the beginning of the institutional integration of the former LIPI into BRIN.
This study is intended to analyze the management of news documents in Bandung City Government in order to know the flow, the role of public relations and any constraints experienced in the process of news document management in Bakominfo Bandung City Government. The method used in this research is a descriptive qualitative method. The data were collected by conducting in-depth interviews to employees and leaders of public relations departments of Bakominfo Bandung City Government. The researcher also conducted participant observation and bibliographical research. The results of this study shows that the news document management is conducted through five digitazion stages. The stages are as follows: news compilation and selection, news document reading using scanner, news document editing, documentation on data basis, and news document presentation to the internal parties. The role of public relations in disseminating information to the public is cooperating with 15 mass media, including the local newspaper to provide information, such as press releases about the activities of organizations/leadership ranks. The constraints experienced by the public relations department of Bandung City Government are the internal factors, such as lack of coordination with other work units, lack of infrastructure and skilled human resources to do reporting and digitizing documents.
The objectives of this research were (1) to estimate the breeding value in order to study the genetic progress of local beef cattle, and (2) to study the effectiveness of breeding method through selection program and assortative mating. The research was conducted at Genetic and Animal Breeding Laboratory, Animal Husbandry Faculty of Bogor Agricultural University from January to March 2006. Data of birth weight from assortative mating between 5 sires and 50 dams have been collected during 2000 to 2005. The data were analyzed using B-Gen program. Selection method that was practiced in this population showed in line with selection method using breeding value criteria. An assessment of genetic progress indicated positive both in annual mean direct genetic trends and annual maternal trends for average birth weight. The average of inbreeding value from five generation was low (0.01%). It was concluded that genetic improvement through selection of growth traits and positive assortative mating was possible.
The increasing of energy demand and environment awareness along with the depletion of fossil fuel imply that the future energy supply must be from the renewable energy source. One of the major renewable energy sources is biomass. Pyrolysis is a rapid decomposition of organic materials in the absence of oxygen resulting in pyrolysis oil, gas, and charcoal products. High water contents and instabilities such as viscosity increase and phase separation are the main problems of pyrolysis oil as a source of useful chemicals. The pyrolysis oil is separated into the oil phase and the pyroligneous acid. The pyroligneous acid contains a lot of chemical substances, that prohibit removal to the environment as a waste due to environmental pollution. Furthermore, pyroligneous acid needs to be treated to obtain the useful chemical. In this study, catalytic reaction of the pyroligneous acid, derived from pyrolysis process of palm kernel shells, was carried out over natural iron ores catalyst at 350 °C with W/F [W: the amount of catalyst bed (g) and F: the flow rate of feed (g h-1)] of 0.5 h. The analysis result showed that iron ores that treated by calcination at 285 °C had a higher ability for ketonization reaction of carboxylic acid compared to other catalysts. Even so, neither calcination up to 500 °C nor steam treatment of natural iron ores can significantly increase the activity of the catalyst for the ketonization reaction even though the BET surface area of the catalyst increased.
