Dengue, an Aedes mosquito-borne viral infection, is on the rise with climate and demographic change. In 2023, WHO declared dengue its highest grade of emergency, following the largest number of cases and deaths in recorded history. This emergency highlighted the absence of safe and effective dengue-specific treatments as a gap in the product landscape for care for people with dengue. To accelerate development of dengue-specific treatments for wide implementation and access in all dengue-endemic countries, WHO conducted a landscape analysis of the dengue therapeutics pipeline and convened a global expert and public consultation to develop target product profiles for treatments for non-severe and severe dengue. These target product profiles provide strategic guidance for product developers, regulators, procurement agencies, and funders on the intended use, target populations, and key product characteristics of dengue-specific treatments required to meet public health needs, setting clear targets to drive development of dengue drugs accessible to those who need them the most.
Gout, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia and muscle damage following exercise have all been linked to increased inflammation and oxidative stress in the body. Tart cherries (Prunus cerasus L.) may be useful as a healing aid due to their high levels of bioactive constituents, including anthocyanins, flavonoids and other phenolic compounds, all of which have demonstrated antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Tart cherries may help provide a protective effect against muscle damage. The purpose of this review, in particular, is to consolidate and evaluate various clinical and experimental studies about the potential benefits of tart cherry on the management of exercise-induced muscle damage, osteoarthritis, gout and fibromyalgia. To identify pertinent information, a thorough literature review was conducted across the databases PubMed, Google Scholar, Web of Science and Scopus, with the last update on September 30, 2025. Research has shown that tart cherry supplementation (specifically the Montmorency variety) has been proven to improve post-exercise recovery by decreasing muscle soreness, fatigue indices and oxidative stress. Additionally, tart cherry products have been shown to relieve symptoms of osteoarthritis, gout and fibromyalgia due to their antioxidant, uric acid-lowering and anti-inflammatory properties. These studies show promising results; however, more studies are needed to determine the specifics of how tart cherry remedies work and how effective they are in the long term.
The expansion of the knowledge-based economy has driven rapid growth in the literature on knowledge management (KM) and intellectual capital (IC), covering topics such as learning, business, and innovation. Scholars recognize knowledge as a significant resource that can foster innovation to attain a competitive advantage. However, literature on the role of entrepreneurial orientation (EO) and learning orientation (LO) in enhancing the impact of both KM and IC on innovation is still limited and fragmented. Hence, a theoretical gap in understanding this role limits both theoretical advancement and practical application. Addressing this problem is essential to developing a comprehensive model of how organizations transform knowledge into innovation and ultimately competitive advantage. The study provides empirical evidence on these relationships through a quantitative approach, utilizing a cross-sectional survey. The sample comprised employees working in the private sector, N = 97. The analysis employed Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS to test the hypothesized relations, and IBM SPSS Statistics to conduct descriptive analyses. The findings affirm that EO is a key driver of innovation, emphasizing its central role in channeling knowledge into innovation.
Long Range (LoRa) networks have emerged as a vital solution catering to applications requiring coverage over relatively long distances in the world of Internet of Things (IoT), where connectivity and efficient data transmission are paramount. LoRa’s utilization of the unlicensed Industrial, Scientific, and Medical (ISM) band not only underscores its cost-effectiveness but also positions it favorably against licensed technologies in terms of deployment cost. Consequently, LoRa has been used as the underlying communication technology for applications across various industrial IoT scenarios. Despite its immense promise in reshaping IoT connectivity, LoRa does have some shortcomings and challenges that the research community has yet to address to unleash its full potential. These limitations have triggered substantial attention from diverse entities, including research institutions, organizations, and industry stakeholders. This paper reviews the literature aimed at improving the capacity and scalability of LoRa networks specifically at the Medium Access Control (MAC) and data link layers. Unlike other surveys, this study focuses on these layers because they play a pivotal role in managing collision rates, which significantly impact network scalability. The paper suggests a comprehensive review of the literature, organizing it based on key limitations that could hinder the network’s ability to meet its performance objectives, including scalability, Packet Delivery Ratio (PDR), and energy efficiency. In addition, the paper provides a summary of these research efforts and offers insight into potential directions for future research in this area.
