Pará is a State of Brazil, located in northern Brazil and traversed by the lower Amazon River. It borders the Brazilian states of Amapá, Maranhão, Tocantins, Mato Grosso, Amazonas and Roraima. To the northwest are the borders of Guyana and Suriname, to the northeast of Pará is the Atlantic Ocean. The capital and largest city is Belém, which is located at the mouth of the Amazon. Pará is the most populous state of the northern region, with a population of over 8.6 million, being the ninth-most populous state in Brazil. It is the second-largest state of Brazil in area, with 1.2 million km² (460,000 square miles), second only to Amazonas upriver. Its most famous icons are the Amazon River and the Amazon Rainforest. Pará produces rubber (extracted from natural rubber tree groves), cassava, açaí, pineapple, cocoa, black pepper, coconut, banana, tropical hardwoods such as mahogany, and minerals such as iron ore and bauxite. A new commodity crop is soy, cultivated in the region of Santarém. Every October, Belém receives tens of thousands of tourists for the year's most important religious celebration: the procession of the Círio de Nazaré. Another important attraction of the capital is the Marajó-style ceramics, based on the extinct Marajoara culture, which developed on an island in the Amazon River.
Siparuna guianensis is a neotropical medicinal plant traditionally used for inflammatory and infectious conditions, and its essential oil (EO) has been investigated for diverse biological activities, particularly antimicrobial, antiparasitic, insecticidal, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective activities. However, the scientific evidence remains fragmented and predominantly preclinical, with limited integration between chemical recurrence, biological focus, and pharmacokinetic feasibility. This study performed a bibliometric review specifically of the literature on the EO of S. guianensis indexed in the Web of Science Core Collection and integrated it with an in silico pharmacokinetic assessment of recurrent major EO constituents. Bibliometric indicators were analyzed to identify publication trends, research focus, and knowledge gaps. Major compounds reported across studies were compiled, with emphasis on recurrent sesquiterpenes, and key ADME-related parameters, including lipophilicity, aqueous solubility, Caco-2 permeability, and intestinal absorption, were predicted using SwissADME and pkCSM. Eleven eligible articles were included, revealing a limited but thematically consistent research landscape, largely dominated by in vitro investigations conducted in South America. Sesquiterpenes such as germacrene D, bicyclogermacrene, and spathulenol were recurrently identified as major constituents, while β-caryophyllene, α-copaene, α-humulene, α-muurolene, δ-cadinene, iso-shyobunone, and epishyobunone were also reported among the relevant EO components and may represent candidate chemical markers. Taken together, these sesquiterpenes highlight the therapeutic potential of the EO, particularly regarding antimicrobial, antiparasitic, insecticidal, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective applications. In silico predictions indicated predominantly lipophilic profiles, low-to-moderate aqueous solubility, high predicted Caco-2 permeability, and elevated intestinal absorption, supporting pharmacokinetic feasibility while highlighting formulation-related limitations. Overall, this work consolidates bibliometric, chemical, and pharmacokinetic evidence specifically related to the EO of S. guianensis and supports its rational interpretation as a source of bioactive volatile constituents, particularly recurrent sesquiterpenes with therapeutic promise, reinforcing the need for experimental pharmacokinetic validation, toxicological assessment, and in vivo efficacy studies.
The integration of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) into Supply Chain Management (SCM) has accelerated rapidly. However, limited understanding exists on how GenAI-enabled capabilities should be prioritised to create sustained value. Existing research predominantly describes applications but overlooks the hierarchical structure of underlying capabilities required for effective adoption. In response, this study develops a capability-oriented framework grounded in the Task Technology Fit (TTF) perspective. A Systematic Literature Review identified capabilities, which were refined via Fuzzy Delphi and structured using Interpretive Structural Modeling (ISM) with Fuzzy MICMAC. The resulting framework was corroborated through secondary case analyses of DHL Supply Chain and Walmart, generating empirically derived propositions regarding adoption mechanisms. Findings reveal a four-stage progression from data consolidation to operational intelligence, adaptability, and differentiation. Real-time data integration serves as the enabling factor, supporting intermediate automation capabilities, while adaptability and differentiation emerge as dependent outcomes that represent the strategic value frontier. The study extends TTF by offering a capability-mediated perspective that provides a prescriptive roadmap for prioritising capability building and guiding the design of GenAI-based systems in supply chains.
Leprosy can vary in clinical forms, resulting in dermatoneurological disease with physical disabilities and leprosy reactions. This reaction involves complex immune system activity that can be influenced by vitamin D activity. The objective of this study was to evaluate the presence of autoantibodies in leprosy patients in Marabá, associating it with sociodemographic aspects and vitamin D levels. Cross-sectional study with leprosy patients treated at a Family Health Unit. Surveys of autoantibodies, vitamin D, and sociodemographic aspects were conducted. Most patients were male (63.4
Selective logging in Amazonian forests often fails to ensure demographic recovery of low-density, high-value timber species within conventional cutting cycles. We evaluated the long-term (17-yr) effects of three post-harvest silvicultural treatments (1 - control; 2 - tending of natural regeneration; and 3 - enrichment planting) on survival, growth, structural development, and projected biological rotation of Dinizia excelsa in reduced-impact logging (RIL) gaps in eastern Amazonia. Mortality dynamics were modeled using generalized linear mixed-effects models, and growth responses were assessed through linear mixed-effects models accounting for gap-level clustering. Enrichment planting exhibited higher early mortality, but significantly greater diameter (0.817 cm yr-1) and volume increments compared to tending and control treatments. After 17 yr, diameter-class distributions revealed accelerated structural advancement under planting. A bootstrap-based projection framework incorporating size-dependent growth deceleration indicates potential reductions in time to reach the 50 cm commercial threshold under assisted densification relative to unmanaged gaps. While projections should be interpreted as scenario-based estimates rather than deterministic forecasts, results demonstrate that targeted gap-based silviculture can enhance productivity and improve demographic trajectories of low-density hardwoods within operational RIL systems. Assisted densification emerges as a strategic complement to conventional management for improving long-term sustainability of Amazonian timber production.
