This paper presents a methodology for deriving representative motorcycle driving cycles in urban areas with complex topographies, where variables such as changes in slope or altitude above sea level impact mobility behavior, using computational intelligence and geospatial data. Focusing on the Aburrá Valley (Medellín, Colombia), the research incorporates data from 122 trips and 27 riders across various motorcycle models, weekdays, and times of day. The statistical analysis included selecting 1863 micro-trips with the most representative routes derived from heat maps, and examining mobility parameters such as speed, positive and negative accelerations, idle time, and moving time. Advanced machine learning techniques, including Support Vector Machines (SVM), Principal Component Analysis (PCA), and the LAMDA fuzzy supervised classifier. The results demonstrated a separation of the data into four well-defined groups, showing high sensitivity and specificity, resulting in high precision and accuracy (94.37 %). The methodology yielded two driving cycles reflecting urban (CMVA) and mixed urban-motorway (CMVA+M) conditions. This approach supports the development of transport policies and sustainable mobility strategies by integrating artificial intelligence and spatial data analysis to enhance understanding of two-wheeled transport dynamics in urban environments shaped by variable terrain.
Ceramic filters are an effective, low-cost solution for water potabilization, particularly in rural communities. The integration of 3D printing has advanced this traditional approach by enabling precise control over design parameters that govern filtration efficiency. Gyroid-type ceramic scaffolds for water treatment were fabricated by clay-based extrusion 3D printing. Two ceramic pastes (ECP 1 and ECP 2) containing kaolin, attapulgite, alumina, and feldspar were formulated; ECP 2 incorporated 10 wt% activated carbon as a sacrificial porogenic phase. Rheological characterization using rotational rheometry and Bingham model fitting identified 40 wt% water as optimal for extrusion. Sintering at 1100°C produced interconnected open-pore networks in ECP 2 (apparent porosity: 23.6%; water absorption: 11.8%). Scaffolds were functionalized with silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) and ethanolic extracts of Moringa oleifera. AgNPs exhibited surface plasmon resonance at 422 nm; silver leaching was 0.00282 ppm (WHO limit: 0.1 ppm). Ethanolic extract E2 (80% v/v) showed significantly lower MIC (0.175 g/mL) than E1 (0.35 g/mL; p < 0.05) and bactericidal activity (MBC/MIC ⩽ 4.0). Functionalized scaffolds (EG) reduced biofilm formation by 80%-95% versus controls at 24 h (MTT assay) and maintained cellular compatibility above the 80% ISO 10993-5 threshold at 7 days. This combination of properties positions them as a highly promising alternative for advanced ceramic water filters.
We investigate a family of relational systems arising from interval partitions of ω, inspired by Vojtáš's characterization of the bounding and dominating numbers. By varying the underlying asymptotic quantifiers and interval constraints, we obtain several natural interval-type generalizations. We show that the universal variants are remarkably robust: in all the discrete, colored, restricted, bounded, and measure-theoretic settings considered here, the associated bounding and dominating numbers coincide with the classical invariants 𝔟 and 𝔡. In contrast, the existential variants systematically reverse these invariants, yielding that the bounding number coincides with 𝔡 and the dominating number coincides with 𝔟.
Objective: Perform a co-word analysis to identify the research topics that have been used in artificial intelligence. Method: Keywords from 3,050 academic articles published in the Artificial Intelligence Journal (AIJ) from 1970 to 2024 were analyzed. Co-word analysis was used, and the R programming language was used in the RStudio integrated development environment (EDI). Therefore, with the refined keywords, a co-word matrix was generated using BibExcel software. This matrix was manipulated with the igraph package to obtain co-word networks for five time periods. Results: It was found that in the 1970s and 1980s, the predominant themes were systems science, cybernetics, and computer science. In the 2000s, the most recurrent themes were algorithms, semantics, heuristic methods, and game theory, among others. These themes continued into the 2010s and 2020s; although other keywords appeared in the latter decade, such as computer circuits, learning algorithms, polynomial approximation, and reinforcement learning, among others. Conclusions: The evolution of AI topics is evident in the keywords with the highest number of links in each of the five periods analyzed. The first period (1970 to 1980) was systems science and cybernetics. The second period (1981 to 1990) was artificial intelligence and systems science and cybernetics. The third period (1991 to 2000) was artificial intelligence and constraint theory. The fourth period (2001 to 2010) was artificial intelligence and computational complexity. The fifth period (2011-2024) was semantics and data description.
