The global rise of drug-resistant superbugs, particularly Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), demands the advancement of alternate therapeutic agents. Coriandrum sativum or Coriander (Cor), a medicinal herb with diverse phytochemical properties, has been investigated for its antimicrobial applications. This study carried out the synthesis of Coriander silver nanoparticles (Cor-AgNPs) through Cor-extract obtained from hydroponically grown coriander, ultimately, aimed at combating MRSA-induced skin and soft tissue infections (SSTI). Coriander was grown hydroponically to optimize plant biomass and phytoconstituent’s production. Phytochemical tests including flavonoids, phenols, alkaloids, and terpenoids were carried out. Silver nanoparticles were green-synthesized and characterized for their size, structure, and stability. The antimicrobial potential of these Cor-AgNPs was assessed through in vitro methods, including disc diffusion and turbidometry analysis representing significant inhibition of MRSA growth with a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of 250 µg/ml and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC) of 1,750 µg/ml. Furthermore, the Cor-AgNPs formulation, integrated into a polyvinyl pyrrolidone-ethylene cellulose (PVP-EC) hydrogel, was evaluated in an in vivo BALB/c mice burn model, where it significantly diminished infection and supported wound healing. This study highlights the potential of C. sativum-derived AgNPs as a promising alternative in the treatment of MRSA infections.
Pancreatic carcinoma is a common digestive system cancer with a high mortality rate. The NF-kappa B pathway plays an important role in promoting inflammation, cell survival and metastasis, which leads to pancreatic cancer progression. In this study, we used different in silico-based drug designing approaches to screen the potential I kappa B kinase (IKK) protein inhibitors, a key regulator of the NF-kappa B pathway, using bioactive plant-derived compounds. Ten phytochemicals were retrieved from the PubChem database and further used in molecular docking, ADME and toxicity profiling, molecular dynamics (MD) simulations and density functional theory (DFT) calculations to explore the therapeutic potential as IKK inhibitors. This study revealed that Chrysin and Oroxylin A showed high binding energy (-9.3 kcal/mol and -9.0 kcal/mol) compared to the standard drug (-7.8 kcal/mol). Further ADME and toxicity analysis showed that the top compounds have favorable drug-likeness properties and MD analysis showed structural stability of Chrysin and Oroxylin A compounds upon binding to IKK protein compared to the standard drug. MM-PBSA calculations validated the results of molecular docking, which revealed the favorable binding free energies for the top lead compounds. Moreover, DFT calculations showed that Oroxylin A has high structural stability (Delta E = 0.37491 eV) compared to Chrysin (Delta E = 0.14874 eV), which indicates its potential as a therapeutic agent. In conclusion, the results of this study suggest that Chrysin and Oroxylin A may serve as promising IKK inhibitors for pancreatic cancer therapy, warranting further in vitro and in vivo validation.
This study investigated how growth language mindset, foreign language enjoyment, foreign language classroom anxiety, and perceived EFL teacher support jointly shape L2 willingness to communicate among Chinese university students. Grounded in mindset theory and control–value theory, the study proposed that growth language mindset would predict L2 willingness to communicate directly and indirectly through foreign language enjoyment and foreign language classroom anxiety, and that perceived EFL teacher support would moderate the emotion–behavior links. Data were collected via paper-and-pencil questionnaires from 478 undergraduates enrolled in compulsory English courses at public universities in Nanjing, Wuhan, Xi’an, and Hangzhou. Partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) using SmartPLS indicated a well-fitting measurement model with strong reliability, convergent and discriminant validity, and no serious concerns regarding common method bias or multicollinearity. Growth language mindset had a significant positive direct effect on L2 willingness to communicate and substantial indirect effects through higher foreign language enjoyment and lower foreign language classroom anxiety. Foreign language enjoyment positively, and foreign language classroom anxiety negatively, predicted L2 willingness to communicate. The perceived support of EFL teachers directly boosted L2 willingness to communicate and it also boosted the enjoyment-willingness correlation as well as countered the negative effect of anxiety. The covariates in demographics were not significant. The study results highlight the significance of combining developmental ideologies, emotive classroom attitudes, and facilitative teacher experiences to create the desire in students to speak English in college.
Robot-assisted radical cystectomy (RARC) has become a minimally invasive alternative to open radical cystectomy (ORC) for muscle-invasive bladder cancer, with potential advantages in perioperative outcomes and recovery times. However, their comparative effectiveness remains debatable, particularly when extracorporeal urinary diversion is employed in both approaches. This systematic review and meta-analysis integrated evidence from randomized controlled trial data comparing RARC with ORC using extracorporeal reconstruction, with novel subgroup analyses by neobladder utilization and GRADE certainty assessment. We systematically searched MEDLINE, Embase, CENTRAL, Web of Science, and Scopus from inception to November 2025 for randomized controlled trials comparing robot-assisted radical cystectomy (RARC) with open radical cystectomy (ORC) with extracorporeal urinary diversion in adults with bladder cancer. The primary outcomes included 90-day overall complications, major complications, operative time, blood loss, length of hospital stay, and positive surgical margins. Secondary outcomes included lymph node yield, venous thromboembolic events, postoperative ileus, and health-related quality of life (HRQoL). Random-effects meta-analyses were used to calculate risk ratios and mean differences with 95
Robotic-assisted laparoscopic hysterectomy has gained widespread adoption for benign gynecologic diseases despite its higher cost and ongoing debate over its clinical superiority compared to conventional laparoscopy. Although many comparative studies exist, no meta-analysis has exclusively synthesized randomized controlled trial evidence with a comprehensive GRADE certainty assessment of all clinically relevant, perioperative outcomes. This systematic review and meta-analysis was prospectively registered (PROSPERO ID: CRD420251183072). We systematically searched major databases from inception through November 1, 2025, for randomized controlled trials comparing robotic total laparoscopic hysterectomy (R-TLH) with conventional total laparoscopic hysterectomy (C-TLH) for benign indications. Two independent reviewers screened the studies, extracted the data, and assessed the risk of bias using the RoB 2 tool. Random-effects meta-analyses were performed for operative duration, estimated blood loss, conversion to laparotomy, length of hospital stay, and perioperative complications. Heterogeneity was quantified using I² statistics, and comprehensive sensitivity analyses were conducted to assess the robustness of the results. The certainty of the evidence for each outcome was evaluated using the GRADE approach. Four trials (N = 375 patients) met the inclusion criteria, with 185 and 190 patients in the R-TLH and C-TLH groups, respectively. The total operative time did not differ significantly between the R-TLH and C-TLH groups (mean difference [MD] 11.79 min, 95
