This study aimed to propose and validate alternative management strategies to increase the productivity of white oat and wheat through the evaluation of agronomic components. Field experiments were conducted during the 2022 and 2023 fall/winter seasons in a randomized block design with three replicates, structured in four phases. Phases 1 and 2 compared the performance of white oat genotypes (URS Brava, IDR Artemis, URS Corona, and URS Taura). Phase 3 evaluated 15 treatments in white oat, combining fungal control agents, plant growth-promoting bacteria (e.g., Bacillus spp., Azospirillum brasilense, Pseudomonas fluorescens), phytohormones (e.g., indoleacetic acid), and fungicides. Phase 4 tested eight similar treatments in wheat. Standard sowing density, fertilization, and crop management practices were followed. Phytosanitary treatments were applied with a CO2-pressurized sprayer. Each phase was analyzed separately using ANOVA, with significance assessed via the F test (5% level), and means compared using Duncan’s test. In Phases 1 and 2, genotype significantly affected most variables, except grains per panicle (2022–2023) and panicle insertion height (2023). In Phases 3 and 4, fungal and growth promoter treatments significantly affected all evaluated variables in both species. Among the oat cultivars, IDR Artemis showed the highest yield in years with low lodging probability, while URS Corona exhibited lower lodging and high grain mass under lodging-prone conditions. Management alternatives influenced agronomic traits in both crops, though no significant effects were observed on final grain yield. These findings highlight the potential of genotype selection and integrated management to optimize oat and wheat performance.
The present study aims to analyze the role of multidisciplinary teams in monitoring individuals subjected to electronic monitoring in Brazil. It is justified by the need to assess the effectiveness of this penal measure beyond technological control, considering its impacts on social reintegration. The objective is to examine the role of psychosocial support in the resocializing function of electronic monitoring, grounded in an understanding of its normative construction within the Brazilian criminal legal system. The hypothetical-deductive method is adopted, drawing on bibliographic review as well as documentary and statistical analysis. The results indicate that the work of multidisciplinary teams constitutes a fundamental element in mitigating vulnerabilities, improving the implementation of the measure, and enhancing its socializing effects.
Abstract The need for more efficient and precise genotype selection in plant breeding has increased due to the demand for scalable approaches that reduce time, cost, and labor without compromising accuracy. High-throughput phenotyping using vegetation indices has emerged as a promising alternative, although its effectiveness depends on proper model calibration. The objective of this study was to select white oat genotypes based on the agronomic ideotype obtained using high-throughput phenotyping, aiming to optimize yield components. The experiment was conducted with 398 F6 lines and four control cultivars under an augmented block design, with field traits and spectral data collected using UAV-based RGB imaging. Vegetation indices were extracted from orthomosaics, and Stepwise multiple regression and MGIDI index were applied. The results revealed phenotypic variability and identified indices such as NGRDI, BX, GRAY2, NRBDI, and RGRI as strongly associated with agronomic traits. A total of 36 lines matched the ideotype criteria, with five showing superior performance. These results indicate that high-throughput phenotyping combined with multivariate selection is effective, although model recalibration is required for different conditions.
Importance:Patients with prostate cancer have a high burden of cardiovascular risk factors, often suboptimally controlled, and adverse cardiovascular outcomes. Objective:To determine whether the routine referral of patients with prostate cancer to a cardiovascular specialist to implement a systematic risk factor strategy is more likely to reduce adverse cardiovascular outcomes and improve risk factor control than usual care. Design, Settings, and Participants:This randomized clinical trial included patients with prostate cancer from 55 sites in 8 countries between 2015 and 2025. Eligible patients were diagnosed with prostate cancer during the past 12 months; had received treatment with androgen deprivation therapy (ADT) for the first time within the past 6 months; or planned to start ADT in the next month. Patients taking a statin with a systolic blood pressure of 130 mm Hg or lower were ineligible. Data were analyzed from May 25 to August 7, 2026. Intervention:Patients were allocated in a 1:1 ratio to receive usual care alone or usual care plus routine referral to an internist or cardiologist. The specialists provided a systematic intervention, including a target of systolic blood pressure of 130 mm Hg or lower and a statin medication, irrespective of the patient's cholesterol levels (even if not usual or guideline-driven practice); encourage smoking cessation; and provide guidance on diet and exercise. Main Outcomes and Measures:Hierarchical composite of cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction, stroke, heart failure, suboptimal cholesterol (total cholesterol, >155 mg/dL [to convert to mmol/L, multiply by 0.0259]) and suboptimal blood pressure (systolic blood pressure, >130 mm Hg) as evaluated by the win ratio. Results:The analysis included 2487 patients with prostate cancer (mean [SD] age, 68 [8] years). During median (IQR) follow-up of 5.8 (2.7-8.2) years, the win ratio in favor of the intervention was 1.60 (95% CI, 1.42-1.81), mostly attributable to lower cholesterol in the intervention group (mean difference, 12 mg/dL; 95% CI, 9-15 mg/dL) as a consequence of greater protocol-mandated statin use. Mean (SD) close-out systolic blood pressure values were 131.1 (16.9) mm Hg in the intervention group and 132.9 (18.3) mm Hg in the control group. There was no difference in time to cardiovascular death, myocardial infarction, stroke, or heart failure between groups (subdistribution hazard ratio, 1.08; 95% CI, 0.79-1.49). Conclusions and Relevance:In this randomized clinical trial, routine referral of patients with prostate cancer to a cardiovascular specialist lead to improved outcomes, specifically through better cholesterol control. However, it is uncertain whether this reduced clinical cardiovascular events. Trial Registration:ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT03127631.
