In the last decade, the gender perspective of the destination image has attracted the attention of researchers, as it has become a determining variable for establishing differentiated offers and generating competitive advantages in tourist destinations. Women exhibit different attitudes, behaviors, and interests than men during tourist visits, and this research uses the Web of Science (WoS) and VOSviewer to highlight the main lines of research in this scientific field. Using mapping techniques, our study shows the relevance of research related to the topics of “modeling the female tourist image,” “satisfaction and loyalty of female tourists,” and, to a lesser extent, “female motivations for traveling,” “female perceptions of cultural visits,” and “risk perceived by the female traveler.” The findings allow us to state that women’s perception of the destination image is an autonomous and expanding field of study, though it is not without new challenges in terms of theory (such as the ambiguity between sex and gender or the limited intersectional perspective) and methodology (the predominance of cross-sectional designs and causal modeling using SEM). Furthermore, the findings provide researchers, policymakers, and destination marketing organizations (DMOs) with a detailed understanding of past and current research topics, which will help them establish differentiated offers at destinations for women compared to men.
The objective of this research is to explore scientific production related to e-commerce in the field of tourism over the period 2002–2025. To this end, bibliometric analysis is applied as the main methodology, supported by mapping and longitudinal analysis techniques using VOSviewer and bibliometrix software. The study integrates various analytical approaches based on co-citation and co-occurrence analyses of keywords and the temporal evolution of research topics. Similarly, theories and factors frequently used in academic literature to address the subject under study are presented. Among these theories, Ajzen's theory of planned behavior (TPB) (1991) and Davis's technology acceptance model (TAM) (1989) stand out. Mapping techniques have provided evidence of the centrality of lines of research linked to trust in collaborative economy environments, risk perception, technological adaptation, and the use of social networks in hotel establishments. For its part, longitudinal analysis has identified emerging lines of research associated with customer engagement, strategic tourism management, and service quality. The findings afford a holistic and multidimensional view of e-commerce in the tourism sector, providing relevant information for the formulation of policies aimed at designing management strategies and promoting tourist destinations through digital platforms.
This article explores the role of Iunia Rustica, a Roman priestess from Cartima, in transmitting and teaching religious practices to her local community. As a Roman priestess, Rustica held a position of spiritual authority, extending beyond ritual performance to include the education of community members in religious norms, moral values and ceremonial traditions. Drawing on epigraphic evidence, archaeological findings and historical sources, the study examines the ways in which her role contributed to the continuity of Roman religious and cultural practices in provincial towns. Particular attention is given to the pedagogical dimension of her priesthood, demonstrating that rituals served as structured opportunities for learning and social cohesion, as well as acts of devotion. The article argues that an understanding of Rustica's activities provides valuable insight into the intersection of religion and education in the Roman Empire, demonstrating that priestesses could act as educators, mediators of knowledge and moral guides. By situating Iunia Rustica within the broader framework of Roman provincial religious life, the study emphasizes the significance of female religious authority in shaping local traditions and transmitting cultural knowledge across generations. Ultimately, it sheds light on how ritualized teaching practices reinforced communal identity while preserving the religious heritage of Cartima.
