To systematically evaluate and update the evidence about photobiomodulation therapy (PBMT) as a therapy for the prevention and/or treatment of oral mucositis (OM) induced by antineoplastic therapies. This systematic review followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. A systematic literature search was conducted across PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, and Embase as the primary databases. Additional searches were performed in the Virtual Health Library (VHL) and LILACS through the BIREME platform, as well as in Redalyc and the Wiley Online Library, covering the period from 2020 to 2026. Only randomized clinical trials published within the last six years investigating PBMT as a preventive or therapeutic intervention for oral mucositis (OM) in cancer patients receiving chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy were included. Seven studies comprising 329 patients were included. PBMT proved to be highly effective in the management of OM (RR 0.50, 95
In Argentina, infertility affects 1 in 7 couples, a figure that aligns with global statistics. In this context, scientific advancements in assisted reproductive treatments over the past 40 years have transformed perspectives on human reproduction. Additionally, international research has revealed that individuals undergoing fertility treatments experience various emotional disturbances. Objective: To analyze the sense of purpose in life and the perception of happiness in women undergoing high-complexity fertility treatments in Argentina. Methodology: The sample consisted of 73 women, with an average age of 37.8 years, who were in the process of high-complexity assisted fertility treatments. They were administered the Pil test to assess life meaning and the Subjective Happiness Scale. Results: A strong positive correlation (R(73) _ .81, p < .05) was found between the variables. Conclusion: The sense of purpose in life is significantly related to the perception of happiness in women undergoing high-complexity fertility treatments. Therefore, fostering the development of one of these factors could be essential in the context of psychotherapy, as it would facilitate better coping and contribute to the well-being of women undergoing fertility treatments.
This article examines Mapa Verde, a participatory digital mapping project co-created by young environmental activists and academic researchers in Uruguay between 2023 and 2025, from the perspective of participatory action research along with social and technopolitical cartography. Drawing on the observation and systematization of collaborative workshops, revision of periodical reports of activities and outcomes, and in-depth interviews with the young activists involved in the participatory cartography, the article reconstructs and interrogates the co-creation process: diagnosis, construction, and evaluation (Calvo & Cand & oacute;n-Mena, 2023). It also analyzes youth imaginaries regarding digital media activism and environmental advocacy through counter-mapping. Pragmatic and critical imaginaries of digital media for activism are found among the young participants who created Mapa Verde, while the collaborative enterprise reflects community-based communication and some traces of counter-data mapping that strengthen identity and foster inter-organizational collaboration. The project expands participatory cartography practices in political ecology and environmental communication, highlighting youth as both agents and cartographers of environmental action. The process shows that mapping is not only a technical exercise but also political, cultural, and pedagogical, enabling new forms of participation and knowledge production.
Objective To determine the prevalence of Burnout Syndrome (BOS) and Burnout Process (BOP), as well as the possible factors associated with their appearance in healthcare professionals in Intensive Care Units (ICUs) in Spain. Design Multicenter, observational, cross-sectional study using an electronic questionnaire. Factors independently associated with BOS and BOP were determined by multiple logistic regression. Scope ICU in Spain. Patients or participants ICU healthcare professionals. Variables of interest Prevalence of suffering Burnout Syndrome (BOS) and of developing the Burnout Process (BOP), as well as factors associated with this prevalence. Results 1490 participants: physicians 15% (228), nurses 62% (925) and auxiliary nurses 23% (337). Prevalence of BOS 30% (447/1490): 32% in physicians (74/232), 32% in nurses (296/925) and 25% (84/337) in auxiliary nurses. The prevalence of having BOS or BOP was 66% (984/1490): 69% in physicians (157/228), 69% in nurses (638/925) and 53% (179/337) in NA o HCA. 23% (343/1490) had only one high dimension, 22% (328/1490) two dimensions and 20% (298/1490) all three dimensions of the BOS. Younger age (OR 0.97 CI 0.95−0.99), female gender (OR 1.38 CI 1.04–1.84), being a medical or nursing professional (OR 1.46 CI 1.09–1.96), professional experience (OR 1.04 CI 1.01–1.06), working in non-surgical units (OR 1.64 CI 1.14–2.37) and higher hospital complexity (OR 1.91 CI 1.48–2.44) were associated with BOS and BOP. An unfavourable physician-to-patient ratio (>1/10) during shifts (OR 2.20, CI 1.13–4.30), and childlessness (OR 0.55, CI 0.30–0.99), were factors associated with BOS and BOP among physicians and auxiliary nurses, respectively. Conclusions The prevalence of BOS and BOP among ICU healthcare professionals in Spain was high. Sociodemographic, occupational, and organizational factors were identified as significant contributors to both BOS and BOP.
Society is changing at a remarkable pace, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) has rapidly become one of the most influential forces driving this transformation. Higher education is directly affected: while students tend to adopt AI tools with enthusiasm-drawn by their efficiency, accessibility, and appeal-faculty are still defining how these technologies fit into their teaching and professional identity. This study examines how university faculty perceive their role in the classroom in the context of AI. Using a qualitative survey design across multiple disciplines, it draws on the perspectives of 36 faculty members to explore evolving responsibilities, teaching methods, and student engagement. The results indicate that although AI is already widely adopted in teaching practice, its integration remains uneven, with significant concerns around plagiarism, weakened critical thinking, and insufficient institutional support. The findings underscore the importance of the faculty as a facilitator and strategic integrator of AI, ensuring that technology complements pedagogical judgment and that education keeps pace with innovation and its broader social impact.
