The University of Negros Occidental – Recoletos (UNO-Recoletos, Filipino: Unibersidad ng Negros Occidental – Rekoletos, colloquially UNO-R), is a private, Catholic coeducational basic and higher education institution administered by the Order of Augustinian Recollects in Bacolod, Negros Occidental, Philippines. It was founded in 1941.The UNO-Recoletos College of Arts and Sciences was granted Level III accreditation by the Philippines Accrediting Association of Schools, Colleges and Universities (PAASCU). Moreover, the College of Engineering and College of Information Technology were granted by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) the distinction as Centers of Development and Excellence in their Electrical Engineering and Information Technology courses, respectively. Also, the CHED, through the Institutional Development and Innovation Grant (IDIG) proposals, funded an e-Learning for agriculture education project. This project is called the Recoletos Online Learning Extension (ROLEx) administered by the agriculture Program of the College of Arts and Sciences.
The profitability of any chicken industry can always be correlated with increasing production. In the Philippines, as of the first quarter of 2022, poultry production had expanded by 12.3% because Filipino’s diet relies heavily on meat, thus placing livestock and poultry among essential segments of the country’s agriculture. The study aims to determine the level of mungbean sprouts that can complement the commercial feeds, which can ultimately improve the weekly body gain weight (WBGW) of broiler chickens and low feed conversion ratio (FCR). The study used the standard Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with four treatments and three replications. The mung beans were prepared in advance, taking care every day. The sprouting period of mung beans took about a week. Significant differences were revealed among treatments. Analysis of Variance implied that broiler chickens whose feed ration was complemented with 15% of mungbean sprouts had the highest WBGW of 546,67 grams and the lowest FCR of 1.74 at 28 days, respectively. The study recommends mixing 15% mungbean sprouts into the feed ration of broiler chickens for up to 28 days to improve the weight gain.
The rapid advancement of additive manufacturing, particularly Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) 3D printing, has transformed prototyping and small-scale production. However, anomalies such as extrusion problems, spaghetti, stringing, and warping continue to compromise print quality, leading to material waste and inefficiencies. These challenges highlight the need for automated, real-time defect detection systems aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 9 and 12. This study developed and evaluated a real-time anomaly detection and classification system using the YOLOv10-S model. A dataset of common 3D printing defects, compiled from public repositories, was preprocessed and used to train and validate the model under various image conditions, including RGB and grayscale. Paired T-test revealed significant differences between training and validation losses, indicating localization challenges. One-way MANOVA showed that anomaly type influenced detection performance, with spaghetti achieving the highest accuracy and extrusion problems the lowest. RGB images outperformed grayscale, highlighting the advantage of color features in detection. The final model demonstrated strong and consistent performance across validation and testing, confirming its effectiveness for realtime defect detection in FDM 3D printing.
Basic first aid awareness is an important component of health literacy and emergency preparedness because appropriate initial responses may help reduce complications while professional assistance is being obtained. This study examines the effectiveness of a multimedia-based educational intervention in improving basic first aid awareness among college students in a private university in Bacolod City, Negros Occidental, Philippines, during Academic Year 2025–2026. A quantitative one-group pretest–posttest action research design was used with 15 purposively selected college students who demonstrated low baseline awareness. Data were collected using a researcher-developed 45-item Basic First Aid Awareness Questionnaire covering open wounds, closed wounds, and sudden illnesses. The instrument underwent expert content validation and pilot testing, obtaining a Content Validity Ratio of 1.00 and Cronbach's alpha of .902. Participants completed an eight-week multimedia-based intervention involving educational videos, digital images, infographics, and contextualized classroom presentations delivered three times weekly. Descriptive statistics and the Wilcoxon signed-rank test were used to analyze the data. Mean awareness increased from 1.963 (SD = 0.153) before the intervention to 4.167 (SD = 0.162) after the intervention. The Wilcoxon signed-rank test indicated a statistically significant difference between pretest and posttest scores, z = −3.41, p < .001. The findings indicate substantial improvement in measured first aid awareness following the intervention. Given the absence of a control group and the small purposive sample, the findings should be interpreted as preliminary evidence of intervention-associated improvement. Higher education institutions may consider integrating structured multimedia resources into first aid and health education programs, while future studies should use larger samples and controlled designs.
Innovations employed in farming are usually done by integrating the existing sugarcane production technologies. The main purpose of innovation is to increase production and to sustain the sugarcane industry. The study aims to validate some of the soil rejuvenation and post-harvest innovations practiced by the farmers that could affect their sugar production. The descriptive method of research is employed in the study. The 320 sugarcane farmers were randomly identify at the seven locations in the Visayas area of the Philippines using the Slovin’s formula. An instrument used was the validated survey questionnaire used by the group of Oñal in their study since 2021. Frequency count, mean, one-way ANOVA, and Pearson Product Moment Correlation were utilized in the data analyses. Key findings showed that the average production of sugarcane farms in the Visayas was between 50-64 tons per hectare (TC/ha) when grouped by location (alpha = 0.05). Correlation analysis show that application of correct quantity of lime and mill waste have a strong relationship with production (ɑlpha = 0.01), while the correct lime placement (ɑlpha = 0.05) and practice of green manuring (ɑlpha = 0.01) have a moderate relationship, respectively. For post-harvest innovations, correlation analysis implied that the delivery of freshly cut cane to the mill is strongly correlated with the production.
The study sought to explore the levels of stress management among teachers in public schools within a district of a second-class municipality in Southern Negros during the school year 2022–2023. Stress management was examined in three areas: self-care and well-being, supportive relationships, and professional development. It also aimed to determine differences in teachers’ stress management when grouped according to age, sex, civil status, plantilla position, and average monthly family income. Employing a descriptive-comparative design, the study used survey questionnaires and applied the Mann-Whitney U test for statistical analysis. Findings revealed that teachers effectively counterbalance the effects of stress, exhibiting strong coping abilities and a positive outlook in sustaining health and well-being across all domains. The highest ratings were observed in maintaining supportive relationships, while the lowest were in engaging in personal hobbies outside of work—suggesting that teachers have limited time for recreation. When compared across demographic variables, significant differences were found only in civil status under professional development, where married teachers reported higher levels of stress management than their single counterparts. The study concludes that teachers successfully manage stress through mindfulness, social support, and professional growth. However, more emphasis should be placed on work-life balance, individualized professional development, and structured team-building activities. It is recommended that schools implement comprehensive wellness and professional development programs that holistically address teachers’ physical, emotional, and professional needs to enhance both teacher well-being and instructional effectiveness.
