The field of "urban economics" is an elusive object whose US-based origins, development, and internationalization we attempt to document in this paper. To flesh out urban economists' territory, we rely on a mix of quantitative analysis (networks of authors most cited alongside the foundational contributions of William Alonso, Richard Muth, and Edwin Mills) and archival research. We identify several periods in the development of American urban economics, including a taking-off in the 1960s, fueled by scholarly contributions, urban riots, and foundations' grants; a marginalization in the 1980s; and a recent renewal where urban economists grappled with the theoretical legacy of the New Economic Geography, and with the transfer of new empirical techniques from neighboring fields.
The design of S-boxes, or substitution boxes, in block ciphers relies on measures such as the Difference Distribution Table (DDT) and differential uniformity to gauge the function's resistance to differential cryptanalysis. S-boxes with low differential uniformity are strong candidates for S-box design due to their robust resistance to differential attacks, leading to the creation of historical families of Almost Perfect Nonlinear (APN) and Perfect Nonlinear (PN) functions with the lowest differential uniformity. Recently, the concept of c-DDT and c-differential uniformity has been introduced, opening the door to c-Almost Perfect Nonlinear (APcN) and c-Perfect Nonlinear (PcN) functions, potentially expanding differential cryptanalysis. Functions with low c-differential uniformity, notably APcN and PcN, have gained significant attention, leading to new connections with other objects. In this paper, we explore new classes of perfect c-nonlinear and almost perfect c-nonlinear functions over finite fields of arbitrary characteristics. We extend the methods used in the AGW (Akbary, Ghioca, Wang) criterion and AGW-like criterion to design perfect c-nonlinear and almost perfect c-nonlinear functions over finite fields by considering linearized polynomials and linear structures.
This session is dedicated to the memory of Professor Arthur I. Karshmer, who established this Special Thematic Session (STS) at ICCHP in 2002 and chaired it at every conference until 2014. This article outlines the objectives of the STS and provides a concise historical overview of assistive technology developments related to STEM accessibility.
Abstract Literature was the first field of semiotic exercise and investigation in France: with the contributions of Barthes, Greimas and Rastier, textual analysis was born. On this textual basis, literary semiotics encounters several major issues, leading future development projects. The first issue is that of the specific conditions for artistic productions, the creative tension between the singularity of each work and its power of generality , all grasped with a methodological organon itself of general scope. The second issue is phenomenological : literature proposes textual reconfigurations of sensory experience, imprinted in figurative manifestations. Figurativeness simultaneously directs us towards the semantics of language, towards the sensory world in which we live and towards the corporeal instance – flesh and subjectivity – which joins them. The third issue , broadening the textual analysis to anthropological considerations, concerns the study of practices that structure the surface narrativity in literary texts, the relations between humans and non-humans, living and non-living beings that populate the texts, and the ‘collective actants’ that are constituted in the textual dynamics of composition and recomposition of figurative networks. Finally, this anthropological issue leads to forms of living and major anthropic regimes that configure literary worlds.
In recent years, the relationship between organic brain lesions and new-onset criminal behavior has gradually attracted attention. This article reviews relevant research, and focuses on the main manifestations and possible mechanisms of new-onset criminal behavior related to organic brain lesions and its significance in responsibility identification and practical response. Existing studies show that such behaviors are heterogeneous in nature, but may be manifested as aggression, theft, traffic violations, inappropriate sexual behavior and other serious deviations, and are related to changes in behavioral regulation, impulse control, social cognition and judgment ability. This article believes that the understanding of such behavior should not be limited to the superficial judgment of whether it is illegal or not, but should be analyzed more carefully in combination with the characteristics of lesions, the process of behavioral change and the clues of neuropsychological function. The discussion of this issue not only helps to deepen the understanding of the relationship between brain pathology and abnormal behavior, but also provides some reference for judicial judgment, clinical evaluation and practical management.
