The University of the East (Filipino: Pamantasan ng Silangan), also known as UE, is a private university located in Manila, Philippines. Founded in 1946, business tycoon Lucio Tan acquired the university in 1990. UE was once labeled as the "largest university in Asia" when its enrollment in the past reached over 65,000 students. The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) granted UE autonomous status and recognized 2 of its programs as Center of Excellence and 1 program as Center of Development. UE offers degree programs from basic education to graduate studies. UE has two other campuses, one in Caloocan, and its medical school, the UE Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center located in Aurora Blvd., Dona Imelda, Quezon City.
In response to the significant societal challenge posed by stress in the workplace, a range of online work-stress management interventions have been developed, with increasing evidence for their efficacy across a range of psychosocial outcomes. This review addresses an emerging trend in work-related stress research by determining what is known from qualitative investigations how workers experience online work-stress management interventions. A scoping review of the published research, informed by the Arksey and O'Malley (2005) and Levac, Colquhoun and O'Brien (2010) frameworks, was undertaken. Twenty-five studies were deemed eligible for inclusion and were reviewed using a descriptive-analytical approach. Analysis of the findings of these studies is presented across four themes. These are the positive features of online work-stress interventions; the barriers to such interventions; the benefits of online work-stress interventions, and improving online work-stress interventions. The findings are discussed with reference to what is known about the experience of undertaking online interventions more generally, recommendations for the delivery of online interventions to workers, and areas of potential further research.
This descriptive and exploratory computational qualitative study investigated the stance of college students towards their intention to use artificial intelligence educational (AIEd) tools. Toward this goal, 1,971 college students participated in the study. They completed an open-ended online survey form that elicited their stance on using the AIEd tools. Descriptive statistics revealed that over 50
This study aims to evaluate the concordance rate between clinical diagnoses and pathological findings of oral soft tissue lesions. In this retrospective descriptive-analytical study, we analyzed 7901 cases of oral tissue lesions referred to the pathology department at Shahid Beheshti Faculty of Dentistry from 1996 to 2022. Data extracted from archived records included age, sex, lesion location, and both clinical and histopathological diagnoses. A total of 2592 samples of oral soft tissue lesions meeting the inclusion criteria were evaluated. The concordance rate between clinical and pathological diagnoses was 65.3
This study aims to model and detect student learned helplessness (LH) in Mathematics using random forest. 113 8thgrade students participated in using a web application for step-bystep solving linear equations. The Random Forest model demonstrated outstanding performance. It achieved 92% accuracy and 93 % mean F1 score. Key predictors of LH included GWA, anxiety, and self-efficacy. These three accounted for more than 67 % of the model's predictive power. The model also excelled in balancing precision and recall, with a 98 % recall rate for high LH cases which ensures that most at-risk students were accurately identified. These results revealed the reliability of the model and its precision in detecting LH. This makes it well-suited for a mathematics tutoring system that enables early detection of LH which makes it intelligent and adaptive to its interventions which could lead to improved student success in mathematics.
Collaborative learning (CL) is one effective way for children to learn. Because of the capability of computers to support CL, computer-supported collaborative learning (CSCL) has emerged. With the rise of mobile devices, boasting computing power nearly equivalent to traditional computers, mobile CSCL (mCSCL) has also emerged. Both CSCL and mCSCL have become platforms for mathematics. This position paper will discuss mathematics mobile collaborative learning (math mCSCL) and the issues in its implementation. The opportunities for potential research from the perspective of a Human-Computer Interaction re-searcher are also discussed.
