The world is transitioning towards the digitalisation of everyday tasks significantly. The impact of digital literacy on technological usage is immense. The awareness and utilisation of the digital India schemes are needed to determine unorganised retailers' overall satisfaction with digitalisation and technological usage. The chief motive of this research is to assess and analyse digital literacy in terms of technology usage and the awareness cum utilisation level of the various digital India schemes proposed by the Government of India for unorganised retailers. The conceptual framework consists of the factors such as digital literacy and digital India schemes that determine the overall satisfaction of retailers with technology usage. The corresponding results of the study synthesised the impact of digital literacy, digital India schemes, and the awareness cum utilisation level of technology among unorganised retailers based on recommendations to enhance the performance of the unorganised retail sector.
This study finds that YouTube channels crowdfunding on Patreon have more frequent video creation. The median YouTube channel that crowdfunded on Patreon produced a video every 7.5 days compared to 105 days for the median comparable channel that did not link to Patreon. Crowdfunders have more views per video, are more likely to link to their Facebook pages, and uploaded videos more frequently. While two channels in the sample, each earned over $150,000 in 2016 from Patreon, the typical crowdfunding sailing channel earned $73 per video, per month, or creation. It appears that a little bit of money was associated with a big increase in new video production.
The sharing economy is of international interest. It is said to be an international phenomenon - however, is there one 'sharing economy' or are there differences between countries? By means of a content analysis of texts available on online sharing economy platforms, this study contributes to an understanding of the sharing economy as an embedded component of the economy and of society. Two countries, Germany and Vietnam, are considered, and an international collection of 280 evaluated online platforms serves as the dataset. Asking which of these international online platforms are available in these two countries and, in a second instance, comparing their features with one another provides an idea of their similarities and differences. On the basis of this, assumptions are made in order to conduct further research on the international aspect of the sharing economy. In a broader perspective, it points to how the sharing economy and the frame of a country-specific system, including its economy and culture, shape it. This is relevant for all actors such as individuals, enterprises, institutions, and academics who are part of the sharing economy.
The sharing economy has experienced rapid development in the past few years; nonetheless, at present, it is still in its infancy. As the sharing economy harnesses an innovative, novel business model, traditional marketing countermeasures are insufficient. Therefore, the sharing economy market patterns need to be explored and appropriate marketing countermeasures developed. To this end, text mining was applied to reviews on a typical sharing economy platform, Airbnb, to accomplish market segmentation. The results suggested that the host is the most valued factor to Airbnb guests. Thus, different from traditional hotel industry, it is essential for emerging peer-to-peer accommodation platform to encourage host to establish good interaction between the guests and the hosts. Meanwhile, cleanliness and convenience are also two major concerns to Airbnb guests, which indicates that Airbnb platform should encourage hosts to promote hotel-like properties for Airbnb listings. In addition, there is no strong evidence of heterogeneity in guests seeking accommodation in different locations.
In recent years, the sharing economy has developed vigorously, and the internet of things (IoT) technology is an important technology to realise the sharing economy. As an automatic identification technology, radio frequency identification (RFID) technology is the key technology to build the internet of things and an essential part of the sharing economy. In order to solve the collision problem of tags identification, an improved grouping adaptive query tree algorithm (IGAQT) is proposed in this paper. Compared to the most of existing anti-collision algorithms, simulation results show that our proposed algorithm can achieve better performance in terms of time complexity and communication overload. And the algorithm is applied to the actual case of sharing economy.
Based on social capital theory, this study aims to examine the effect of social capital domains on an individual's learning and cognitive attitude which regulates decision-making to purchase. Individuals who socially interact with each other and share vision using social media are more likely to share their purchase recommendation, which cognitively motivates to make a purchase decision where trustworthiness among networks strengthen the relationship of social interaction, social vision and cognitive behaviour of an individual. With the help of latest literature, theoretical model and number of the hypothesis are built. Data was collected from 360 universities students who use social media to collect for information and knowledge and ask for a recommendation from their social capital, on which, they trust while purchasing products and services. AMOS-21 was used to perform statistical analysis, and where for moderation analysis, hierarchical regression method is used.
The rapid pace of technological change in the internet age has fundamentally transformed information technology (IT) outsourcing. Thus, organisations should be able to re-imagine their IT outsourcing strategies to meet the needs of increasingly turbulent business environments. Bimodal IT requires the shaping of IT services to be either agile oriented or efficient oriented, thereby bringing new demands to an organisations' adoption strategies. On the basis of the review of traditional IT outsourcing service research, this paper presents the traditional and nonlinear modes of IT outsourcing service, discusses risk-based IT outsourcing service adoption strategy, relationship and contract management strategies from the static and dynamic perspectives and provides several directions for future research.
Considering the endogenous structure of the aggregate supply curve, Okun's law, and the monetary output effect, this paper calculates the Chinese quarterly output gap between 1995Q4 and 2017Q2 using an SVAR model based on the inflation rate, real output, the unemployment rate and M2. Then, we reveal the influence of the time-varying characteristic on the real output using a TVP-SVAR-SV model. First, China's economy has experienced four rounds of fluctuations since 1995, and the fluctuations became stationary after 2011Q1, which is consistent with the main feature of 'great moderation'. Second, there was an asymmetric relationship between the volatility of output and money supply after 2000Q4, and the anti-Tobin effect became obvious after 2003. The shock of inflation aggravated the negative impact on output. Third, the output effect of easy monetary policy sharply decreased, and the response cycle shortened following the global financial crisis. Therefore, stimulus policy should be implemented cautiously.
In this paper, we examine the lack of technological knowledge and adaption to evolving technologies as factors influencing sustainable internet usage among women small businesses. Accordingly, it is important to unearth internal and external factors critical for small business sustainable internet usage. Against this background, research questions seek to extend knowledge about the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of sustainable internet usage. We employ a mixed method approach, utilising both purposive sampling of 221 female participants. Through thematic and multi-regression models, we analyse the data. Contrary to expectations, the impact of strength and opportunities on the likelihood of sustaining internet usage are not significant whereas weaknesses and threats may facilitate sustainable internet usage. Implications of the paper encourage sustainable internet usage in Ghana, while policymakers should emphasise access to education and technological knowledge, especially addressing cultural issues that affect women entrepreneurship as well as the provision of skills necessary to take advantage of opportunities offered by internet usage.
This paper is derived from the research project of cleansing customer address data for the State Grid Corporation of China (SGCC), which is the largest electric utility company in the world and was ranked the 2nd in the 2016 Fortune Global 500. Address standardisation involves development of a standard address format for data integration, de-duplication, auto address correction/completion, and is widely considered as a very challenging data cleansing task. Address standardisation is critical for routine business tasks, customer relationship management, business intelligence for customer-oriented cooperates, and others. Address standardisation is particularly difficult for the Chinese language. The underlying reasons include: 1) the current address standard placed in China is only realised at the city/town level; 2) due to a number of reasons, many hand-written addresses are incomplete or contain errors; 3) it is difficult to process the Chinese language in a machine fashion due to the language. characteristics. To tackle challenges, we propose a hybrid approach combining both statistical and rule-based methods, which are the two mainstream address standardisation approaches. Our hybrid approach utilises the merits of the both methods and can complete the address standardisation task with a little human efforts and computational time, while achieving high accuracy.
Government microblog is a new way to provide public service and communicate with public. The engagement is an important guarantee to realise the effects of government microblog platform. This research builds an interest-driven behaviour model to explain the micro-level public engagement behaviour on specific posts published on government microblogs. Specifically, we focus on how the individual's characteristic, features of posts and historical personal interest recorded on the web influence him or her selecting specific post to interact with, and it is verified by the data from Sina Weibo. Results show that the interest match has significant positive influence on personal engagement, and the interest match of posts by higher administrative level-government officials is lower than by lower administrative level-officials. Also, posts with rich information will be more likely to receive more engagement. These findings would help government officials to promote more engagement with public.
Foreign brand attitude and reference group influence are limited in terms of providing sufficient explanation to the cross-border online shopping (COS) behaviour of consumers. Therefore, two different cultural concepts and intercultural adaption should be considered in the COS context. This study chose healthy consumer ethnocentrism (CET) as a national-oriented cultural concept and intercultural sensitivity (ICS) as product country-of-origin-oriented cultural concept. Data analysis of 201 online questionnaires shows that foreign brand attitude and COS intention is positively affected by ICS but negatively influenced by healthy CET. Moreover, the influence of value-expressive reference group positively affects the COS intention. Given the moderating effect of gender, the influences of males and females on the COS intention have several differences. This study revealed the complex mentality of Chinese consumers during COS that is affected by cultural concepts of varying orientations.
RFID innovations are often pursued due to institutional pressures. Consequently, many organisations end up with disappointing results. However, there are exceptions where organisations gain competitive advantages with RFID over time. We use two rather competing theories to explain the exceptional cases. Institutional theory discusses that organisations often imitate RFID pioneers due to an institutional pressure, which can lead to organisations turning homogeneous and causes disappointing results. Whereas, resource-based view explains that organisations can gain significant benefits by developing unique capabilities and become heterogeneous instead. We posit that organisations do not necessarily need to strike a balance between institutional and resource-based determinants, as suggested in the literature. The IT innovation process can be rather sequential, as can be observed with RFID innovations. An in-depth case study is leveraged to describe the process of turning an IT innovation under institutional pressure into unique capabilities.
Healthcare information systems (HIS) are the high-tech computerised hospital systems, which are continuously used by administrative and professional staff, increases the demand for measuring the information security threats in the healthcare industry. The complexity of the impact of new healthcare information and communications technology (ICT) devices increases pressure on the healthcare community to innovate novel information systems (IS) to deal with security threats emerging through their different IS management models. A semi-structured open interview study was conducted with 60 healthcare employees in three large hospitals in UAE-Dubai. The research aimed to identify the healthcare community's perceptions towards hospital information security on the following issues: definition of information security; perception of information security threats; knowledge of information security management; and perception of information security in the context of another healthcare community. The findings and implications of the study discussed through confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA) security model.
Establishing a natural gas market pricing mechanism is crucial to Chinese market reforms. This paper explores the achievements of pricing mechanism reform since 2013 and examines the current market trends. We used copula function to analyse the relationship between liquid natural gas arrival price in Guangzhou and the Henry Hub natural gas spot price in the USA from 2013-2017. The correlations between the natural gas market prices increased from 2013-2015, with rank correlation coefficient reaching a maximum of 0.73 in 2015; Although the correlations were negative from 2016-2017, the decreasing negativity indicates China's market price converged to that of the USA from 2013-2015 and had a temporary separation in 2016 and 2017. It was concluded that while China's natural gas pricing mechanism is becoming more dependent on market mechanisms, it needs to be strengthened by learning from the US natural gas development process.
Economic globalisation in general and enhanced core competencies in particular have greatly increased supply chain complexity. Supply chain integration is essential for effective supply chain management, whereas information sharing is a necessary condition for integrated supply chain operations. Supply chain information sharing (SCIS) research is more on demand-side than on supply-side. This paper simulates operating activities with and without supply information sharing in a three-level capacitated supply chain by using a simulation model with mixed-integer programming. The simulation results indicate that supply information sharing can greatly improve supply chain performance in terms of cost and service level. The impacts of supply information sharing on the supply chain performance are heavily influenced by demand patterns and capacity tightness.
