part of national urban renewal programs, the political stakeholders of the city are engaged in many projects seeking to achieve different purposes: reduce energy consumption, improve living condition, foster ecomobility, promote social mixing. The public and local stakeholders involved (policy services of the city, urban planning and environment services of municipalities and inter-municipal associations, providers of social housing) are asked to provide their expertise and advice. However, these stakeholders may lack time, resources and methods to work together. That’s why in the context of a multidisciplinary project on energy efficiency scaling from occupant to building and urban levels, the participatory simulation platform “Geranium” has been developed to propose to decision makers an integrated approach of a renewal program of a priority neighborhood. The participatory simulation development is based on two phases: development of an integrated simulation model for energy consumption, then its adaptation into a participatory simulation. The numeric model allows the simulation of energy consumption of households for a set of buildings (« la Cité des Géraniums » in the district of Saint-Éloi in La Rochelle), for which an urban renewal project has been initiated in 2009. In the Geranium model, the participants can change three main classes of parameters during a simulation session: building structural parameters (number, surface, energy performance), psycho-social parameters of the households (household structure, income, occupant status, environmental awareness) and micro-climate parameters (temperature, humidity). Data and parameters of the Geranium model are the outcome of household surveys as well as scientific and grey literature sources. The transposition of this model into a participatory simulation is designed as a numeric modeling whose participatory use is envisaged through the integration of game mechanics and a screenwriting to be experiment with the participatory simulation. The objective of the participatory simulation is to lead the participants to reflect on an urban renewal project whilst reconciling the challenges of energy consumption, social mixing, housing and all this while taking into account climate change.

This paper reports on the curriculum design and delivery of a practice-based, experiential learning course, which introduces students in an undergraduate communication and media studies program at a Canadian university to the challenges of working with social data using an analytics platform. The curricular development approach is modeled in part on pedagogical approaches to experiential learning, educational technology and teaching, and also reflects on recent theorizing in platform studies within communication and media studies. The paper argues that by emphasizing a clear link between theory, information ethics, and practice, students can build critical analysis skills necessary to understand the complex relationship between social data and communication and develop data literacy skills that extend their training in critical communication studies.

One or two false hypotheses are rebutted, those that give so much importance to virtual space that they undervalue or ignore the political, economic and cultural elements that shape the physical-social space. This article, however, maintains the hypothesis that the physical-social space, collective action and interaction between the social players are essential for local development, calling for solid and decisive public policies that will develop the ICTs and involve the social and economic players on the one hand, and citizens in general on the other, in advances of technical knowledge and in the trend towards universalisation of this knowledge. So, we explain the European and Spanish public policies that are helping to spread the use of ICTs and remove the digital divide between the more advanced and the less developed social sectors.

The study aims to better understand who the influential blogger within the territory of cooking blogs are. We build a model to observe the influence process, from the analysis of blogger’s influence in his virtual community until the diffusion on social networks. From the quantitative analysis of 952 blogs, we show that blogger’s role in his virtual community determines his own activity of publications but also his influence on social networks.
In a research devoted to ways of periurban living (Aguilera et al, 2014), we have collected material to question 3 aspects : territory - technical networks (ICT, automotive) - daily mobility, based on statements of thirty-one households living in Paris suburb (Haute Vallée de Chevreuse, Brie Boisée, Carnelle Pays de France). Starting with the management of uncertainty and the role played by ICT in said issue, we found that ICT enables the individual to elect a double position to face uncertainty. ICT is a clear progress to face uncertainty of transport network, we outline that it also ensures flexibility in activity program. The conclusions of this first part led to open the spectrum and analyse ICT in suburban ways of living. ICT are not seen as the tool to manage temporal and spatial tension between distance and proximity, typical of suburban areas. Nevertheless, they go together with an improvement of territorial household appropriation. Their use still largely advisory is subject to the links that individuals develop with the territory and does not replace it. This technical appropriation does not prevent from assuming that ICT will ultimately play a territorial adapter role similar to the one played by automobile.
