
Objective To investigate the clinical and image character of avascular necrosis of the femoral head(ANFH) after SARS and treatment of ANFH by hyperbaric oxygenation(HBO). Methods Clinical data and image characters of 51 patients of ANFH after SARS received from Oct 2003 were analysed.Results ANFH caused by SARS and hormone showed different characters,and HBO was effective to early ANFH after SARS.Conclusions ANFH after SARS may be caused by the combined effect of virus and hormone,and early HBO treatment is an effective method.
Objective To investigate the effect of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) exposure on the content of glutamic acid decarboxylase(GAD) in cultured neurons,and to offer some scientific evidences at cell level to elucidate the mechanism of acute oxygen toxicity.Methods Primary cultured rat hippocampus neurons in different volume of medium were exposed to 0.5 MPa HBO for certain periods,and GAD content were detected by immunofluorescence staining.Results After exposed to 0.5 MPa HBO for a certain period,the GAD content in neuron body decreased significantly.When medium volume was decreased,the GAD content also decreased if the exposure period was shortened simultaneously.Conclusions HBO exposure could decrease GAD content in neurons,which may be an important factor correlative with the onset of acute oxygen toxicity.Our investigation also showed that it is completely feasible to investigate acute oxygen toxicity using in vitro methods.
Objective To investigate the change of neuron apoptosis in adult rats following rapid decompressing and the effect of hyperbaric oxygenation(HBO) on central nerve cell apoptosis.Methods The fast decompressing rats' models of decompression sickness were established by fast decompressing(50 s) after 1.0 MPa exposure force 5.5 min.HBO was inducted 6 h later. Brain tissues were collected at 6 h,24 h,48 h and 72 h after fast decompression.Apoptosis cells were detected by in situ end labeling TUNEL methods.Apoptosis indexs were determined by counting the TUNEL positive cells under 400 times field of vision.Results There was no TUNEL positive cell in the brain tissue of normal control and safe decompression animals.There were a few TUNEL positive cells in the brain tissue of animals sacrificed at 6 h after fast decompression,increased at 24 h(P0.01) and peaked at 48 h and 72 h(P0.01).According as their morphological appearance,the apoptosis cells were suggested to be neuron.The amount of neuron apoptosis in brain tissue of animals exposed to HBO sacrificed at 24 h after fast decompression was decreased significantly than that of fast decompressing group at the same time(P0.01).The extent of decreasing was bigger in 48 h and 72 h after HBO inducted.Conclusions The neuron apoptosis was an important form of neuron loss induced by fast decompression.HBO could improve the circumstance of neuron in brain tissue suffered fast decompression-induced CNS injury,decrease the neuron apoptosis,and play an important role in protection of injured neuron.
Objective To investigate the influence of infrasourd on some physiological functions in crewmen.Methods Two ships of the same type,named experimental group ship and control group ship,went on voyage.The infrasound-generator on the experimental ship worked continuously for 6 h and the levels of infrasound in most cabins or work stations were 105~117 dB with the main frequency-spectrum energy at 12.5,16,and 20.0 Hz.On the control ship,the infrasound-generator was shutted off and was kept in safe distance from the experimental ship for 6 h.The blood samples were collected from all the crewmen in both ships before and after the experiment,and 3 immune and 11 biochemical indices were examined.Results After continuous exposure to infrasound for 6 h,the content of plasma IgG in the experimental crewmen(13.9±1.7 g/L) was increased significantly compared with that before exposure(13.3±1.6 g/L)(P0.01).It also increased significantly compared with that of the control group after voyage(13.8±2.9 g/L)(P0.05).Similarly,the values of plasma GSH of the experimental group was increased by 17.69% after voyage(P0.01)(272.08±39.10 mg/L υs 231.18±25.39 mg/L),and in the control group that value was increased by 12.42%.The values of plasma RBC-ChE and T-LDH of the experimental group were increased by 236.6% and 122.6%,respectively(RBC-ChE 4.09±1.92 μmol/mgHb υs 1.22±0.36 μmol/mgHb,T-LDH 4796±229 U/L υs 2155±514 U/L),but no notable changes of these values were seen in the control group after voyage.In addition,Ca~(2+)-ATPase in RBC and T-AOC in serum in both groups were decreased notably after voyage.Conclusions Some notable changes occurred in some blood indices such as RBC-ChE,GSH and T-LDH in the experimental group after voyage,which may be related to infrasound environment.
Objective To study the effect of hyperbaric oxygenation (HBO) on the level of C-reactive protein (CRP) in coronary heart disease (CHD).Methods The subjects included 60 patients with CHD,which were randomly assigned into one of the two groups:HBO group (n=30) and control group (n=30).The results of the treatment were compared in the two groups after four weeks.Results The level of CRP in CHD were significantly decreased in HBO group (P0.001).The level of CRP in HBO group were significantly less than that in control group after treatment (P0.001).Conclusions The therapy of HBO could significantly decreased the level of CRP in CHD.
Objective To study the effect of magnetic field,noise and high temperature on heat stress protein 70(HSP70) expression in rats. Methods Three-element two-level orthogonal method was used to design experiments and microcirculatory microscope and other decices was used to test the expression of HSP70 in rats under simulated shipboard environment.Results Magnetic field had influence on the expression of HSP70 in rat liver,rat spleen,and rat brain tissue (P0.01 or P0.05). High temperature had influence on the expression of HSP70 in rat liver and rat spleen (P0.05). Conclusions Magnetic field and high temperature have some influence on the expression of HSP70. Three-element interaction had no significant effect on the expression of HSP70.
Objective To investigate the effect of ship rocking degree on the spent time and successful rate of introvenous infusion puncturings and find some adequate ways. Methods Thirty New Zeland Rabits were grouped freely and were punctured introvenously into the ear vein by thirty nurses in submarine mimicker under four ship rocking degree. Results When the ship rocking degree was smaller then 7° ,the spent time of introvenously puncturing on the ship were not significantly different from that on the land (P0.05) .When the ship rocking degree was greater then 12° and 15° , the spent time of introvenously puncturing were significantly different from that on the land (all P﹤ 0.01).Conclusions Different ship rocking degrees have various effects on introvenous infusion puncturing. It is necessary to use adequate ways.

Objective To get a general idea of factors which affect the utilization of clinic and admission service in a certain navy corps.Methods Stratified cluster sampling was conducted, and a total of 3566 military members in some navy corps were sampled. The efficient rate was 96.38%. Survey data were analyzed by Logistic Model. Results The two week prevalence was 52.96%. The clinic drug was the main factor that affected the utilization of clinic service. The admission rate was 7.68%. The cultural degree,mild illness, and self-therapy were the main factors that affected the utilization of the admission service.Conclusions There was high health service need in the navy corps, while the utilization of which should be improved. More attention should be paid on the particular health education in order to raise the self-health consciousness of the military members. The health management institutions should enforce investment on important support parts of the military to meet the primary requirement of the military members.
Objective To investigate the effects of hyperbaric oxygen on expression of CD31,CD61,CD62p,CD63 and PAC-1 on platelet membrane glycoprotein in patients with avascular necrosis of the femoral head after SARS.Methods Using flow cytometry,the expression of CD31,CD61,CD62p,CD63 and PAC-1 on platelet membrane glycoprotein in 26 patients before and after HBO were measured and the comparison with those in 17 healthy adults were studied.Results The expression of CD31,CD61,CD62p,CD63 and PAC-1 on platelet membrane glycoprotein in 26 patients were all lower than that in 17 healthy adults before HBO (P 0.01),The expression of CD31,CD61,CD62p,CD63 and PAC-1 on platelet membrane glycoprotein in 26 patients were all increased after HBO (P0.01 or P0.05);There is no significantly different between patients after HBO and healthy adults (P0.05).Conclusions HBO can recovery the expression of the platelet membrane glycoprotein CD31,CD61,CD62p,CD63 and PAC-1 to normal.
Objective To investigate and compare the effects of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) on the expression of serum soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 in the elderly patients with cerebral infarction.Methods Twenty elderly patients with cerebral infarction and twenty healthy eldly people were taken as subjects.The serum concentration of sICAM-1 in the cerebral infarction group and the control group was indirectly tested by ELISA method, and the levels of sICAM-1 were compared and analyzed. Results The result of statistic analysis indicated that the level of sICAM-1 in the cerebral infarction group is higher,and there was significantly difference between the cerebral infarction group and the control group(P0.01). The level of sICAM-1 in the cerebral infarction group was significantly lower after HBO treatment(P0.01). And there was no significant difference between the cerebral infarction group and the control group(P0.05).Conclusions HBO could markedly inhibit the activities of sICAM-1 in patients with cerebral infarction.
Objective To observe the protective and treatment effects of hyperbaric oxygen and Nimodipine on mice with cerebral ischemia-reperfusion.Methods Mice of Kunming species were selected for the trial.The bilateral common carotid arteries of the mice were ligated and the blood flow was occluded.After 30 minutes,the ligated arteries were losen and the blood flow reperfused.At the same time, HBO,hyperbaric air and HBO+Nimodipine was given respectively.Then platelet selection CD62p(CD62p),intraerythrocytic calcium (IECa ~2+),dyformity index (DI) and whole blood viscosity (WBV) were examined.At last,the heads of the mice were cut and the brain tissues were taken out to carry on morphology observing and to compare them with the sham operation group.Results Compared with the sham operation group and the comprehensive treatment group,the level of CD62p,IECa ~2+,WBV increased and DI decreased significantly after reperfusion in the operation group (P0.05,P0.01).CD62p,IECa ~2+ were markedly higher in the comprehensive treatment group than that in sham operation group on the lst,2nd day after operation (P0.05).But with the days of treatment increased,CD62p,IECa ~2+ were decreased,and the difference became insignificant (P0.05).While the difference with the operation group was still significant (P0.05).CD62p,IECa ~2+,WBV were increased and DI was decreased after operation in the hyperbaric air group,and the changes became marked with the days of treatment increased.There were marked difference compared with the sham operation group,the operation group or the comprehensive treatment group (P0.01).Morphological changes in brain tissues:the morphology of neuron was nomal in mice of the sham operation group,the number of neuron cells decreased obviously in the mouse brain tissues of the operation group,morever,most of these residual cells became swelling,pyknotic or degenerative decompositive.These morphological changes were more obvious in the hyperbaric air group than in the comprehensive treatment group.Conclusions HBO combined with Nimodipine had great protective effect on the brain of ischemic-reperfused mice.
Objective To observe the dynamic changes of serum creatine kinase BB (CK-BB) content in patients with severe acute carbon monoxide poisoning (ACOP).Methods The serum CK-BB contents were measured by electrophoresis in 20 patients with severe ACOP on the 1st,3rd,5th,7th,9th,10th,14th,21st and 30th day after poisoning and compared with those in 10 healthy adults.Results The serum contents of Ck-BB rose gradually, reached the peak during the 2nd-3rd weeks, and returned to normal on the 30th day after poisoning. Two of the patients suffered from delayed encephalopathy respectively on the 28th and the 29th day after poisoning and their serum contents were 7~8 times higher than normal. Another two patients with delayed encephalopathy were transferred to our hospital on the 21st and 25th day after poisoning,respectively, whose serum contents were much higher than those of the healthy adults. Conclusions Delayed encephalopathy after acute monoxide poisoning can be early diagnosed by observing the dynamic changes of serum CK-BB content in patients with ACOP.
Objective To study the clinical merit of posturography in dignosing patients with dizziness or/and vertigo. Methods 307 patients with complaints of vertigo or/and unsteadiness were examined by electronystagmography (ENG) and posturography of inclinometer,and the two results were compared. Results Firstly, the subjects with complaint of unsteadiness had more abnormal results than those without complaint of unsteadiness. Secondly, the sensitivity of detecting peripheral vestibular disorders for caloric testing was higher than that of detecting central vestibular disorders (74.6% and 34.7% respectively). There was no difference between the sensitivity of detecting peripheral vestibular disorders and central vestibular disorders by posturography of inclinometer. Discordant results between both examinations were dominant in peripheral vestibular disorders and central vestibular disorders(43.1% and 60.0% respectively). Conclusions Posturography of inclinometer can identify body balance disfunction. Combined with ENG, a thorough evaluation of vestibular function may be obtained efficiently. The addition of this examination may significantly enhance the sensitivity of detecting patients with vestibular disorders.
Objective To study the protective effects of nerve growth factor (NGF) associated with fortified iron nutrition on blast exposure hearing damage in Wistar rats.Methods Forty Wistar rats models with blast exposure hearing damage were established and were divided into 5 groups:the 8 rats in NGF group were given nerve growth factor;the 8 rats in FIN group were given fortified iron nutritional diet; the 8 rats in combination group were given NGF associated with fortified iron nutritional diet;the 8 rats in NS group were given 0.9% sodium chloride for 3 weeks;and the 8 rats in the control group were given neither medicine nor noise exposure.ABR threshold shifts were tested in the rats before and after the blast exposure,and cochlear morphological changes were examined with scanning electron microscopy.Results The ABR threshold shifts in the NGF group,FIN group,combination group 3 h,3 d,14 d after the blast exposure were significantly smaller than those in the NS group.No permanent threshold shifts were seen in the NGF group,the FIN group and the combination group.Scanning electron microscopy indicated ghat the pathological changes of the outer hair cell stereocilia in the NGF group,the FIN group,and the combination group 3 h after blast exposure were less obvious than those in the NS group.After 14 d ,the stereocilia appeared perfectly normal and well defined in the combination group,whereas there were still remained some stereocilia abnormalities in the NS group.Conclusions NGF associated with fortified iron nutritional diet can obviously protect cochlear hair cell against blast exposure by decreasing degeneration and necrosis.
Objective To study the effects of psychological stress on working memory in rats, as well as the intervention effects of tyrosine, the precursor of central neurotransmitter dopamine. Methods SD rats trained by eight-arms maze (1 time/d, 6 d/w, continuously for 10 weeks) and formed the model of working memory, were exposed to stress continuously for 14 days (30 min/d) by Communication Box, and fed with tyrosine 250, 500 and 1000 mg/ kg respectively. Working memory error (WME) and reference memory error (RME) were observed.Results WME of stress treated group determined in 1, 7, 10 and 13 d were higher than that of control group, and RME of stress treated group determined in each time were obviously higher too.Compared with psychological stress group, WME of tyrosine 1000 mg/kg treated group was decreased in 7 and 13 d (P0.05), and RME decreased in 4 and 10 d(P0.05), WME and RME of tyrosine 500 mg/kg treated group determined in 10 d were lower than that of psychological stress group (P0.05). No significant difference was found in tyrosine 250 mg/kg treated group. Conclusions The acute and repeated psychological stress could impair the performance of working memory, while high dose tyrosine obtained remarkable protection in early part of time. Mid-dose tyrosine also had protective effects to the injury of the performance of working memory induced by a long time and repeated psychological stress conditions.
Objective To explore the clinical value of treating postnatal paralytic strabismus with hyperbaric oxygen (HBO).Methods 26 cases (28 eyes) of postnatal paralytic strabimus were treated with HBO,at 0.22 MPa,for 70 min every time,10 times as a course of treatment.Results After the treatment,the average corrected angle of strabismus was 26.76,and the total effective rate was 89.3%.These cases were followed up for 3 to 30 months,finding no recurrence.Conclusions HBO is a safe and effective method for treating postnatal paralytic strabismus.
Objective To observe changes of activity of thrombocyte in mice after acute carbon monoxide poisoning and the effect of hyperbaric oxygen on them. Methods 128 Wistar rats were randomly divided into four groups :control group, HPT groups, COP groups and HBO groups. Volume of thrombocyte and expression of thrombocyte CD~61 were measured by FCM( flow cytometer) on the 1,5,10,15,20 day after ACOP.Results (1) Volume of thrombocyte and expression of thrombocyte CD~61 both increased remarkably after ACOP and these changes lasted for at least 15 days(P0.05). (2) These factors in the HPT group recovered more quickly than those of the COP group (P0.05). (3) Compared with the COP group, hyperbaric air had no significant influence on ACOP rats (P0.05) .Conclusions The activity of thrombocyte increased remarkably and continuously after ACOP ; HBO treatment can make them recover more quickly .
Objective To forecast the quantity of nurses allocated on hospital ships. Methods Queuing theory was used to make research on the allocating of nurses on hospital ship. Results The number of the nurses allocated on hospital ships during war was put forward ,and this will make guidance to the build of hospital ship.Conclusions Queuing theory is scientific and effective in deploying the nurses on hospital ships,and will enrich the theorys of medical service on the hospital ship.
Objective To study the clinical characteristics, diognosis and treatment of ACOP, and to discuss the pathogenesis of delayed encephalopathy following ACOP(DEACMP). Methods A review and statistical analysis of 244 ACOP patients in the time period from January 1995 to February 2003 were made, including age, occupation, poisoning degree, poisoning reason, accompanying disease, smoking history and other factors.Results Living reason was still the chief factor leading to ACOP. Comparing DEACMP group with non-DEACMP group,there were very significant differences in accompanying disease, time for coming round,times of HBOT(P0.01); age,LDL-C in the DEACMP group were significantly higher than those in the non-DEACMP group(P0.05); while it showed no remarkable differences in other respects.Conclusions For severe ACOP patients,advanced age, accompanied with hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, cerebral infarction or other disease, longer time for coming round and insufficient HBO treatment might be important risk factors related to DEACMP. It is scientific and effective for us to use mannitol reasonably and to give ACOP patients sufficient HBO treatment together with glucocorticoid, medicine of promoting blood circulation and removing blood stasis, antiplatelet aggregation agent and medicine of improving cerebral metabolism.
