
Iron homeostasis plays an important role in maintaining the body's normal growth and development and physiological metabolism.Iron metabolism balance is extremely important.Iron deficiency or iron overload are both harmful,and iron homeostasis disorder can lead to the occurrence and development of many kinds of diseases.TCM has the advantages of multiple targets and multiple pathways,and plays an important role in the regulation of iron metabolism and the treatment of related diseases.This study expounded the absorption,metabolism and regulation related mechanisms of iron metabolism,summarized the distribution of TCM syndrome types under different iron homeostasis disorder,such as iron deficiency and iron overload,and their correlation with syndrome factors.At the same time,it discussed the TCM monomer and compounds on the regulation of iron metabolism,which were expected to provide a reference for the treatment of iron metabolism disorder in different diseases.
Objective:To study the intervention effect of Danggui powder on clomiphene-induced hyporeceptive endometrium,and explore the difference of influence and pharmacodynamic mechanism of Danggui powder and its disassembled prescriptions.Methods:60 rats were randomly divided into normal group,model group,Huangqin(scutellaria baicalensis)and Baizhu(atractylodes macrocephala)group(HB group),Danggui powder group(DP group),Chuanxiong(Ligusticum wallichii),Danggui(paeonia lactiflora)and Shaoyao(Angelica sinensis)Group(CDS group),and estradiol valerate group(EV group)according to the body weight,with 10 rats in each group.On the first day after estrus,the model group and each treatment group were given clomiphene suspension(5.21 mg/kg)daily for 5 consecutive days.Meanwhile,the treatment groups were given estradiol valerate(0.104 mg/kg),Danggui powder,CDD,HB solutions(0.3125 g/kg,0.208 g/kg,0.104 g/kg)respectively for 8 consecutive days.Estrogen and progestogen were measured by radioimmunoassay;endometrial thickness and the number of glands of the rats were measured by HE staining;the expression of estrogen and progestogen receptors,and integrin β3 were determined by immunohistochemistry.Results:Compared with the normal group,the endometrial thickness,glands number,estrogen,estrogen receptor,estrogen/progestogen ratio and integrin β3 in the model group were significantly decreased(P<0.01),progestogen receptor expression decreased(P<0.05),and progestogen level increased(P<0.05).Compared with the model group,the endometrial thickness was significantly increased in each treatment group(P<0.05),among which DP group and CDS group were more significant(P<0.01);glands number was increased in each treatment group(P<0.05);estrogen level was increased in estradiol valerate group and CDS group(P<0.05);progestogen level was decreased in HB group(P<0.05),and the difference for other treatment groups were more significant(P<0.01);except for the HB group,estrogen/progestogen ratio in the other treatment groups was increased(P<0.05),and the difference in the CDS group was more significant(P<0.01);estrogen receptor was increased in every treatment group(P<0.05),among which estradiol valerate group and CDS group were more significant(P<0.01);except for HB group,integrin β3 of all the other treatment groups significantly increased(P<0.01).Conclusions:Danggui powder and its disassembled formulae can improve the endometrial morphologic development disorder induced by clomiphene in rats to varying degrees and enhance endometrial receptivity,which is related to estrogen,progestogen and its receptors,and integrin β3.
Objective:To summarize the rule of multi-component content in American ginseng from different growing areas and apply this rule to infer information.Methods:UPLC-ELSD method was established and the contents of ginsenoside Rg1,ginsenoside Re,ginsenoside Rb1 and pseudo-ginsenoside F11 in American ginseng were determined through this method.The contents of these 4 components in 33 batches of American ginseng grown in Jilin province,Shandong province,the United States of America,and Canada were checked.The data were analyzed by principal component analysis method and orthogonal partial least squares discrimination method.Results:The content composition of American ginseng followed the rules of ginsenoside Rb1>ginsenoside Re>ginsenoside Rg1>pseudo-ginsenoside F11.There was difference in each of the 4 components among those growing areas,and ginsenoside Re and ginsenoside Rb1 were the leading components for the difference.Conclusion:The established method can be applied to the quality analysis of American ginseng,so as to help infer the origin information through the rule of the composition content of American ginseng.
Objective:To observe the effects of Qingying Liangxue(QYLX)formula on the pathological structure,ultrastructure and expression of thrombomodulin(TM)of the kidney tissue of rats with Henoch-Schönlein purpura nephritis(HSPN),and to explore the mechanism of QYLX formula in the treatment of HSPN.Methods:A total of 25 rats were randomly divided into a normal group(n =5)and a modeling group(n =20).In the modeling group,HSPN stagnated heat rat model was created by employing"bovine serum albumin +lipopolysaccharide +carbon tetrachloride"plus dried ginger.After successful modeling,the rats were randomly divided into model group,QYLX formula low-dose and high-dose(11.05 g/kg,44.18 g/kg)groups and losartan potassium tablets(7.13 mg/kg)group,with 5 animals in each group.After 12 weeks of experimental model building and 5 weeks of drug administration in each group,the pathological change and ultrastructure of kidney tissue were observed by light microscope and transmission electron microscope,respectively.The IgA deposition in kidney tissue was observed by immunofluorescence method,and the expression of TM in serum and kidney tissue was observed by ELISA and WB.Results:QYLX formula could reduce IgA deposition in the kidney tissue,and the fluorescence intensity of IgA deposition in all administration groups was significantly decreased compared with model group(P<0.01).QYLX formula of either low or high dose could significantly reduce the expression of TM in serum and kidney tissue(P<0.01).Conclusions:QYLX formula can reduce IgA deposition in kidney tissue,repair pathological injury of kidney tissue,and improve podocyte process fusion.The mechanism may be related to reducing TM expression in serum and in kidney tissue,improving the structure of vascular endothelia,slowing down podocyte injury,and improving glomerular filtration barrier.
Objective:To observe the effects of Yinao Tongluo Granule on serum levels of SOD,MDA and NO in pMCAO model rats.Methods:The rats were randomly divided into the sham operation group,the model group,the Yinao Tongluo Granule groups(low-dose,medium-dose and high-dose)and the ginkgo biloba group.The intervention was once per day for seven days.One week after intervention,suture-occluded method was applied to establish pMCAO model in rats;24 h after modeling,the Longa scoring method was adopted to evaluate nerve function score;water content was determined by dry/wet weight determination;TTC staining was used to determine the volume of cerebral infarction;TBA method was used to detect the plasma level of MDA;the serum level of SOD was detected by hydroxylamine method;the serum content of NO was detected by enzymic method.Results:Compared with those in the sham operation group,the neurological function score and the brain water content of the model group were significantly increased(P<0.05);compared with those in the model group,the neurological function score and the brain tissue water content were significantly decreased in the Yinao Tongluo Granule groups of medium-dose and high-dose,as well as in the Ginkgo biloba group(P<0.05).Compared with that in the sham operation group,the cerebral infarction volume was significantly increased in the model group(P<0.05);compared with that in the model group,the cerebral infarction volume was significantly decreased in the ginkgo biloba group and the Yinao Tongluo Granule groups of low-dose,medium-dose and high-dose(P<0.05);the cerebral infarction volume was less in the high-dose group than that in the ginkgo biloba group(P<0.05).Compared with those in the sham operation group,the SOD content was significantly decreased,the contents of MDA and NO were significantly increased in the model group(P<0.05);compared with those in the model group,the SOD content was significantly increased,and the contents of MDA and NO were significantly decreased in the ginkgo biloba group and the Yinao Tongluo Granule groups of medium-dose and high-dose(P<0.05);the SOD activity was higher and the levels of MDA and NO were lower in the high-dose group than those in the ginkgo biloba group(P<0.05).Conclusion:Yinao Tongluo Granule can reduce cerebral infarction volume and brain tissue water content in pMCAO model rats,it can increase SOD activity and decrease the levels of MDA and NO of pMCAO model rats,suggesting that Yinao Tongluo Granule can protect neurons and alleviate cerebral ischemia injury by inhibiting oxidative stress response.
To investigate the characteristics of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome types and related factors of metabolic syndrome(MS)accompanied by thickening of the carotid intima media(CIMT)through a retrospective analysis of patients with this disease.Methods:319 MS patients admitted to Dongfang Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine from January 2020 to December 2021 were selected as research subjects.The clinical data of these patients were analyzed statistically,and the distribution rules of TCM syndromes were summarized.Results:Among 319 patients,the highest prevalence was found in those over 60 years old.More men than women have the disease before the age of 60,while after the age of 60,the prevalence rate of women increased significantly and was higher than that of men.The number of MS with CIMT thickening to form plaque was the most,and the grading of arteriosclerosis was different among different age groups.The main syndrome in MS patients was liver depression and spleen deficiency,followed by syndromes of dual deficiency of qi and yin,phlegm-stasis combination,qi stagnation and damp obstruction,dual deficiency of spleen and kidney,which were correlated with carotid atherosclerosis grade,age,smoking,BMI,blood pressure and SOD(P<0.05).Conclusion:The majority of MS patients with CIMT thickening were middle-aged and elderly women.Liver depression and spleen deficiency,qi stagnation and damp obstruction are the main syndromes in young patients with a short course of disease.As the disease progresses,syndromes of dual deficiency of qi and yin,phlegm-stasis combination,dual deficiency of spleen and kidney appear.The distribution of syndromes was closely related to age,smoking,body mass index,blood pressure and SOD,which should be positively intervened.
Neuroinflammation is a pathological feature in the progression of Alzheimer's disease(AD)besides the excessive deposition of beta-amyloid(Aβ)protein and abnormal phosphorylation of Tau protein,and this feature is of great significance in the occurrence and development of AD.Characteristic changes in neuroinflammation are the release of inflammatory factors induced by glial cell activation.A large number of studies have confirmed that acupuncture plays a role in reducing the body's inflammatory response by regulating the expression of central and peripheral inflammatory factors,thereby treating AD.Taking inflammatory factors as the entry point,we in this review summarize the experimental research progress of acupuncture in regulating inflammatory factors in AD,analyze and summarize the regulatory effect of acupuncture on inflammatory factors of AD animal models and its possible mechanism from central and peripheral aspects,so as to lay a foundation for further research on the anti-inflammatory effect of acupuncture on AD.
Objective:To explore the effect of panax notoginseng on reducing low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C)through miR-4732-5P/PCSK9/LDLR pathway,in order to provide clinical reference and research ideas for the study of the action mechanism of panax notoginseng in the treatment of dyslipidemia.Methods:Prospective small sample self-control clinical trial design was used,and 30 subjects who met the diagnostic criteria of hyperlipidemia(phlegm-stasis evidence)were enrolled from Guang'anmen Hospital of the China Academy of Chinese Medical Science from February 2021 to December 2021 and given continuous treatment with panax notoginseng powder for 3 weeks.The changes in blood lipid of LDL-C,triglyceride(TG),total cholesterol(TC),and high-density lipoprotein(HDL-C)and safety indexes before and after the treatment were compared.Plasma samples were collected before and after the treatment,and changes of PCSK9 expression levels,peripheral blood mononuclear cells(PBMCs)hsa-miR-4732-5P,hsa-PCSK9 mRNA,and hsa-LDLR mRNA indices were tested.Results:After 3 weeks of panax ginseng intervention,the subjects showed a decrease in LDL-C,TC and TG and an increase in HDL-C(P<0.05)compared to pre-treatment.There was no significant difference in safety indicators before and after the treatment(P>0.05).PBMCs PCSK9 mRNA expression was down-regulated,hsa-miR-4732-5P and hsa-LDLR mRNA expressions were up-regulated,and plasma PCSK9 levels were decreased.Conclusion:Clinical samples verifies that panax notoginseng may reduce the expression of LDL-C through mediating miR-4732-5P/PCSK9/LDLR pathway.
Alzheimer's disease(AD)is a common age-dependent neurodegenerative disease.Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)believes that the relationship between gut flora and brain-gut axis is similar to the relationship between the spleen-stomach and the brain-spleen-stomach.Pungent dispersing and bitter descending method is an effective treatment method for inhibited spleen-stomach qi movement.Based on the analysis of the relationship between intestinal microflora,brain-gut axis and AD,the authors put forward pungent dispersing and bitter descending method for the treatment of AD,hoping to provide new idea and method for clinical treatment for AD.
Objective:To investigate the effect of Qili cardiotonic capsule on doxorubicin-induced activation of cardiac fibroblasts(CFs)and its relationship with PAI-1/TGFβ1/Smad3 pathway.Methods:The cells were divided into control group,adriamycin model group,Qili cardiotonic low-dose group and Qili cardiotonic high-dose group.Real time fluorescence quantitative polymerase chain reaction(qPCR)and Western blot methods were used to detect type Ⅰ collagen(collagen Ⅰ),type Ⅲ collagen(collagen Ⅲ),plasminogen activator inhibitor-1(PAI-1),and transforming growth factor β1(TGFβ1),as well as mRNA and protein expression levels of Sma and Mad related protein 3(Smad3)in the cells of the four groups.Meanwhile,PAI-1 overexpression plasmid(PAI-1 OE)was transfected and divided into 4 groups:negative control group,adriamycin group,adriamycin + Qili cardiotonic group and adriamycin + Qili cardiotonic +PAI-1 OE group.The contents of collagen Ⅰ,collagen Ⅲ,TGFβ1 and p-Smad3 in cells of the four groups were detected by qPCR and western blot.Results:The relative protein expressions of collagen Ⅰ,collagen Ⅲ,PAI-1,TGFβ1 and P-SMad3 in adriamycin model group were significantly increased,while those in Qili cardiotonic low and high dose groups were down-regulated,with statistical significance(P<0.01).In the PAI-1 overexpression experiment,compared with adriamycin +Qili cardiotonic group,the protein contents of collagen Ⅰ,collagenⅢ,TGFβ1 and p-SMad3 in adriamycin + Qili cardiotonic + PAI-1 OE group were significantly increased,with statistical significance(P<0.01).These results suggested that overexpression of PAI-1 could significantly reverse the inhibitory effect of Qili cardiotonic capsule on TGFβ1 and p-Smad3.Conclusion:Qili cardiotonic capsule inhibits doxorubicin-induced CFs activation by inhibiting PAI-1/TGFβ1/Smad3 pathway.
The concept of"ascending,descending,exiting and entering"is a vivid symbol of all things,and also one of the methods of medicine formula formation.Its origin can be explored through the regulation of the middle qi and qi mechanism.Middle qi is the mechanism for transporting and transforming life.Middle qi is the source of ascending and descending qi,and the spleen and stomach are the pivot of the ascending and descending action.The yin and yang functions of viscera and bowels,the functions of qi,blood,and body fluids are carried out depending on qi's ascending and descending regulation.Middle qi cannot be generated as a qi of any specific organ,but is actually the hub for ascending,descending,exiting and entering of qi and the intersection of yin and yang,and every organ contributes to the formation of this qi.In order to prescribe formulae to regulate the movement of qi,medical practitioners must master the physiological and pathological states of the ascending,descending,exiting and entering movements qi of various organs,master the upbearing,downbearing,floating and sinking features of medicinals,and the compatibility characteristics of classic formulae.This way,deficiency can be supplemented,excess can be discharged,channels can be freed and pathogenic factors can be eliminated.This article aims to explore how to use traditional Chinese medicine to adjust deficiency,stagnation,fall,upward movement of middle qi.Based on relevant literature from previous dynasties and the theoretical development of middle qi,the theory of meddle qi is sorted out.Disease treatment can be guided according to the relevant formula rules of the theory of ascending,descending,exiting and entering theory.Thus,based on the theory of"ascending,descending,exiting and entering"of meddle qi,exploring its related formula formation methods has important guiding significance for clinical regulation of the true patency of the five visceral organs and elements.
Psoriasis is a common skin disease characterized by erythema covered with a large amount of silver white scales,accompanied by severe itching and other symptoms,causing great harm to patients physically and mentally.Western medicine believes that the etiology and pathogenesis of psoriasis is not clear,but most scholars believe that the occurrence of psoriasis is related to the interaction between the patient's own immunity,family heredity and the surrounding environment.Traditional Chinese medicine believes that this disease occurs when a patient who has heat accumulation in the body contracts some external pathogen and the pathogen stagnates in the skin.Blood heat pattern of psoriasis vulgaris is very common in clinical practice,and the traditional Chinese medicine has obvious advantages in the treatment of this condition.Through the mining of the literature,we have explored many effective methods for the treatment of this disease,including oral,external washing of Chinese medicine,bean pressure on the ear points,and the combined application of a variety of treatment methods.With their unique effects and rapid action characteristics,these methods are playing a very important role in the treatment of psoriasis.
Heart failure is caused by an imbalance in cardiovascular homeostasis,which depends on the strict regulation of gene expression and is controlled by multiple types of RNA molecules.Non-coding genomes play a key role in gene regulation during genetic programming and body development,as well as in health and cardiovascular diseases.Some of these RNAs lack protein-coding capabilities,known as non-coding RNAs.Non-coding RNAs play an increasingly important role in a variety of cardiovascular diseases,including heart failure,as they play a biological function regulating the expression of related genes at the RNA level.This paper reviews the molecular mechanism of non-coding RNA in its regulation of heart failure,and summarizes the mechanism of TCM in preventing and treating heart failure by intervening in non-coding RNA,in order to provide new ideas for TCM treatment of heart failure.
现代社会,随着生活水平的提高以及社会压力的增大,酒精消耗量日益增多,酒精性肝纤维化(ALF)的发病率呈上升趋势.ALF是酒精性肝病发展过程中的关键阶段,具有可逆性,延缓甚至逆转ALF进程是治疗酒精性肝病的重点.西医学治疗方案有限,疗效不甚满意.近年来中医对本病病因病机、理法方药研究不断深入,中医药论治ALF的体系日益完善,其治疗具有多层次、多环节、多靶点的特点.基于ALF病因病机特点,探讨临床选方用药思路及特点,以期提高中医药治疗本病的临床疗效.
Warm pathogens enter from mouth and nose,and nasal mucosa is the first part of the host infected by pathogens.When the pathogen invades the upper respiratory tract of the human body from the mouth and nose,the physical defense of the nasal mucosa epithelial cells can play a certain role in defense.In addition,the dendritic cells(DCs)under the nasal mucosa can directly or indirectly capture antigens and start a series of immune responses.Modern studies have found that TCM can enhance the defense barrier of nasal mucosa by up-regulating tight junction protein to improve the tight junction of nasal mucosa epithelial cells,regulate the level of secretory immunoglobulin A(IgA)in nasal mucus,and can regulate TLR,NF-кB and p38-MARK and other signaling pathways down-regulating proinflammatory factors to alleviate infection symptoms.This study reviewed the progress of nasal mucosa immunity from immune response and regulation of TCM.
Objective:To observe the effect of decoction of replenishing qi and detoxification on gastrointestinal function recovery and balance of helper T cell 1(Th1)/helper T cell 2(Th2)in patients with qi-deficiency and blood-stasis syndrome after gastric cancer surgery.Methods:78 postoperative gastric cancer patients with qi-deficiency and blood-stasis syndrome were divided into control group and observation group with 39 cases in each group.The control group was treated with enteral nutrition support and conventional chemotherapy,and the observation group was treated the same in addition to the decoction of replenishing qi and detoxification.The traditional Chinese medicine(TCM)syndrome score,gastrointestinal function recovery,gastrointestinal hormone level[motilin(MOT),gastrin(GAS),Ghrelin],tumor markers[carcinoembryonic antigen(CEA),tissue polypeptide specific antigen(TPS)and carbohydrate antigen 199(CA199)],nutritional index[albumin(ALB),prealbumin(PA),transferrin(TRF)],peripheral blood Th1,Th2 and Th1/Th2 changes were compared between the two groups.The adverse reactions during treatment were observed in the two groups.Results:After treatment,the scores of main symptoms,secondary symptoms and total scores in the observation group were lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).The postoperative recovery time(first exhaust,defecation,and bowel sound recovery time)of the observation group was shorter than that of the control group(P<0.05).The levels of MOT,GAS and Ghrelin in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The levels of ALB,PA and TRF in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).Th1 and Th1/Th2 in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P<0.05),while Th2 was lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions between the two groups during the treatment(P>0.05).Conclusion:Decoction of replenishing qi and detoxification can improve the clinical symptoms,shorten the recovery time of gastrointestinal function after operation,promote the secretion of gastrointestinal hormones,reduce the level of tumor markers,and improve the nutritional status and Th1/Th2 imbalance in patients with qi-deficiency and blood-stasis syndrome after gastric cancer surgery.The decoction is safe and reliable.
During the occurrence and development of depression,the nervous system involves a variety of complex regulatory mechanisms.Acupuncture is effective in the treatment of depression,and its mechanism of action is closely related to monoamine neurotransmitter and their receptors,hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal(HPA)axis,inflammatory pathway,oxidative stress,neural plasticity,and melatonin content.In this paper,we summarize the research progress of acupuncture anti-depression mechanism in recent years,and provide a new idea for the treatment of depression.
IgA nephropathy(IgAN)is the most common primary glomerular disease in China.The basic Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)pathogenesis of IgAN is spleen and kidney qi deficiency combined with damp-heat.The theory of yin fire is an important part of Li Dongyuan's academic thoughts.The pathogenesis of yin fire is that yin fire is internally generated due to spleen-stomach source qi deficiency.The therapy of tonifying the middle,raising yang and downbearing fire is the main treatments for yin fire.The basic pathogenesis of IgAN is similar to the pathogenesis of yin fire.We have draws lessons from Li Dongyuan's experiences and mainly use the method of"tonifying the middle(spleen and stomach),raiseing yang,removing dampness,and downbearing fire"to treat IgAN of spleen and kidney qi deficiency and damp-heat type.If deficient root is the main case,the patients should be treated with center-supplementing formulae,such as Middle-Tonifying Qi-Replenishing Decoction,and Four Gentlemen Decoction,plus yang wind raising medicinals,such as Chaihu(radix bupleuri),Shengma(rhizoma cimicifugae)and Qianghuo(rhizoma seu radix notopterygii)to regulate qi mechanism,raise yang qi,restore source qi to the normal state,and supplement the middle.If the pattern is in severe excess in superficiality and dampness predominating over heat,bland medicinals should be employed,such as Fuling(poria cocos),Zhuling(polyporus umbellatus)and Zexie(alisma orientalis),to drain dampness.Yang wind raising medicinals can be added,such as Gegen(puerariae radix),Shengma(rhizoma cimicifugae),Fangfeng(saposhnikovia radix)and Chaihu(radix bupleuri),to raise yang-qi and promote spleen qi,because these medicinals are pungent,have dispersing nature,and can disperse dampness.If heat predominates over dampness,bitter-cold medicinals can be added,such as Huanglian(coptidis rhizoma),Huangbo(phellodendri chinensis cortex)and Huangqin(scutellariae radix)to reduce yin-fire,and yang wind raising medicinals can be added,such as Fangfeng(saposhnikovia radix),Qianghuo(rhizoma seu radix notopterygii),Chaihu(radix bupleuri),Shengma(rhizoma cimicifugae),to dissipate yin-fire.This way,the middle deficiency can be supplemented,damp-heat can be eliminated,yang qi can be raised,and source qi can be restored,and therefore,the yin fire can spontaneously regress.While in clinical practice,one should consider the proportion and handle simplicity and complexity.
Depression is a common mental disorder,which is highly disabling and fatal.Western medicine usually uses oral antidepressants for treatment,but their long treatment cycle,obvious side effects,high price,poor compliance,limited response rate,and delayed efficacy limit their application.More and more studies have revealed that traditional Chinese medicine has outstanding therapeutic effects in the treatment of depression and can serve as a prospective alternative therapy for depression.Panax notoginseng is a traditional Chinese medicinal herb in China.Modern research has found that it has pharmacological effects such as inhibiting neuronal apoptosis,inhibiting platelet aggregation,antioxidant,anti-inflammatory,and neuronal protection.In recent years,a large amount of experimental data has been generated on the therapeutic effects and pharmacological studies of Panax notoginseng on various depression models.However,the potential impact and mechanism of Panax notoginseng and its chemical components on depression have not been fully determined.Therefore,this paper reviews the antidepressant mechanisms of the main chemical components in Panax notoginseng in different depression models,providing a theoretical basis for clarifying the antidepressant mechanism of Panax notoginseng and promoting the development of new traditional Chinese medicine therapies and drugs for depression.
