This study aims to analyze the negative impacts of high-risk work environments on the mental health of employees of the Brazilian federal prison system. The research specifically focused on understanding the psychological challenges faced by 15 federal correctional employees engaged in management activities within the prison system. To capture their experiences and perceptions, semi-structured interviews were conducted, and the data were analyzed using the Collective Subject Discourse (CSD) method. The findings reveal that several factors contribute to the emergence of psychological issues among employees of the prison system. Key challenges identified include structural constraints within the prison system, as well as direct and indirect exposure to the prison population, which exacerbate stress and anxiety. Additionally, the sense of being overwhelmed is amplified by the deterioration of both horizontal and vertical relationships among employees, excessive bureaucratic processes, and a perceived lack of organizational support. These psychological problems not only affect the well-being of the staff but also have broader implications for the functioning of the prison unit. The study highlights the urgent need to reconsider and reform public and management policies in federal prison units. By doing so, it is possible to foster a healthier work environment, reduce stress-related issues, and enhance the overall effectiveness of the prison system.
This study develops an integrated typology and a territorial assessment of the efficacy of climate change adaptation finance mechanisms in Colombia. Employing a multi-method approach, integrating qualitative coding, matrix categorization, geospatial mapping, and data visualization—finance mechanisms were classified into public, private, and market-based instruments. The findings reveal significant territorial disparities regarding financial accessibility and institutional coordination. Results demonstrate that the National Adaptation Fund (Fondo Nacional de Adaptación) and Payments for Environmental Services (PES) yield the highest adaptive impact. Conversely, private and hybrid mechanisms exhibit marginal utilization in high-vulnerability zones. The primary contribution of this research is the proposal of a structural analytical framework based on six systemic attributes: flexibility, territoriality, multi-level governance, risk management, institutional articulation, and absorptive capacity. This framework facilitates a rigorous evaluation of climate finance effectiveness and provides a strategic baseline for resource prioritization in vulnerable territories, serving as a robust decision-making tool for public policy and territorial planning.
The Tourism Destination Life Cycle Model (TDLCM) has been widely used to analyze the evolution of tourism destinations based on demand. However, the expansion of accommodation platforms such as Airbnb introduces new variables for its interpretation. This study examines the relationship between the time elapsed since a destination was designated a Pueblo Mágico (Magical Town) and the growth of accommodation supply on Airbnb. A quantitative and correlational approach was adopted using secondary data from AirDNA corresponding to 177 Pueblos Mágicos in Mexico. Correlation coefficients and hypothesis testing were employed to analyze the data. The results reveal a significant relationship between the two variables, suggesting that the supply offered through digital platforms may constitute a complementary indicator for analyzing the life cycle of tourism destinations.
Globalization has transformed economic activity, creating more demanding markets and pressuring firms to adapt through effective organizational change. Despite extensive research on business competitiveness, gaps remain in understanding how innovation management (IM) contributes to competitive advantage (CA). This review synthesizes current trends to clarify those effects. For this purpose, a qualitative approach was used, which included an exhaustive literature review, bibliometric analysis and intelligent data analysis. We find that both IM and competitive advantage are essential ele-ments. IM is considered crucial for the successful growth of organizations in extremely competitive business markets. It is suggested that future research with a quantitative approach be carried out to show what type of IM is developed by organizations and whatCAs they obtain in return. Also, to examine the factors and actors involved in IMto develop CA. The results of the study have the potential to guide future research and sound business strategies. A key limitation is the Tree of Science (ToS) tool's database restriction, which may exclude relevant studies beyond Web of Science.
Since the adoption of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in 2015, global progress toward achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has been inadequate. Within the business sector, there has been a greater contribution from large and transnational companies, with minimal contributions from small and medium enterprises (SMEs). For this reason, this paper aims to identify effective operational practices of large companies in Mexico that contribute to the achievement of the SDGs, which can be applied by Mexican agricultural SMEs. A content analysis of secondary sources was carried out, with the intention of identifying the best practices carried out by companies to contribute to the achievement of the SDGs. Actions taken by large companies in Mexico to contribute to SDG 1-No poverty, SDG 2-Zero Hunger, SDG 10-Reduction of inequalities, and SDG 12-Responsible production and consumption, which are some of those proposed by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) as having the greatest influence on the agri-food sector, were identified. With this information, ac-tions can be generated through which agri-food SMEs can contribute to the achievement of the SDGs.
