The family farmer's market is a complex space, marked by material and symbolic relationships that reflect the identity of a family and community tradition. In this context, agriculture is the dynamic that sustains the reproduction of their lives. In this article, we propose a reflection on the dynamics of insertion and the production and marketing strategies of family farmers in the municipality of Bragança. The research carried out is qualitative in nature, based on bibliographic analysis and primary data collection obtained through semi-structured interviews with farmers/traders and organizers of the fair, carried out in 2023 and the second half of 2024. We conclude that the fair plays an important role as a social organization of resistance and an exercise in sustainability in the agroecological practices of small rural producers in Bragança, given the trends of new industrialized food markets in the northeast region of Pará.
This article analyzes the formation and transformation of the agrarian space in the municipality of Encruzilhada do Sul (RS), based on a historical and geographical approach centered on the evolution of the technical base and the use of territory. Through a periodization that ranges from the establishment of a production system, based on extensive livestock farming, to the consolidation of a technical-scientific-informational environment, more diverse and dynamic. The study aims to understand how different historical moments reshaped the relationships between society, technology, and nature. Throughout this process, key elements include agricultural modernization, mechanization, the introduction of industrial inputs, and productive diversification, especially between the 1970s and 1990s, with the expansion of forestry and soybean cultivation within a context of economic restructuring and integration into broader production circuits. The analysis shows that these transformations led to changes in labor organization, land structure, and local socioeconomic dynamics. Grounded in the concept of used territory and the relationship between systems of objects and actions, the article demonstrates that these changes established the material and territorial foundations that enabled, in recent decades, the emergence of the news economics activities in the municipality.
This article analyzes the process of insertion of sociobiodiversity fruits in school feeding menus in three municipalities of Rio Grande do Sul, based on the work of nutritionists linked to the National School Feeding Program. Based on a qualitative and quantitative approach, the study combines documentary research and semi-structured interviews with technical nutritionists, whose actions were analyzed in the light of content analysis. The research revealed that the effective insertion of these fruits depends on multiple factors: the training of nutritionists, their personal motivation, articulation with the Technical Assistance and Rural Extension Company (EMATER), involvement of family farmers and institutional support. Despite the legal guidelines that favor the use of regional foods and family farming, the implementation of these guidelines encounters obstacles such as the seasonality of fruits, the scarcity of suppliers and the operational limitations of school networks. Nutritionists act as street-level bureaucrats, playing a decisive role in the implementation of public policy, adapting general guidelines to local realities. The research concludes that the autonomy and engagement of these professionals are key elements for the success of the school feeding policy, promoting, through the appreciation of native foods, food security, sustainability and preservation of the regional food culture.
This study proposes a theoretical analysis of beer as a form of cultural expression, considering its material and immaterial elements. Based on qualitative and bibliographic research, it aims to understand how ingredients, production techniques, branding strategies, and social practices are articulated in the construction of a beer identity rooted in the Brazilian territory. The theoretical framework is structured around two main categories: the material aspects of the beverage - such as water, malt, adjuncts, hops, and yeast - and its immaterial aspects - including technical knowledge, visual identity, and sociocultural relations. The study demonstrates that beer transcends its physicochemical and sensorial dimensions, evoking belonging, strengthening territorial connections and restoring collective memory. Furthermore, it highlights the importance of production and communication strategies that value local ingredients, traditional knowledge, and cultural practices, suggesting paths toward a more diverse and culturally rooted brewing practice.
This article is an excerpt from a Master's thesis, which aimed to propose strategies for implementing geocaching as a geoeducational tool to promote the appreciation of the landscape heritage of the Quarta Colônia UNESCO Global Geopark. The Geopark covers a territorial extension of 2,923 km², located in the central region of Rio Grande do Sul. Geocaching as a geoeducational tool can be a valuable tool in engaging visitors in a practical and exploratory learning experience that deepens their understanding of the natural world. To achieve this purpose, a strategic plan was developed to analyze the landscape heritage of the Geopark in order to identify which part of this heritage would be selected to support the implementation of new caches. Thus, ten points were selected for the creation of geocaches. The selection criteria took into account the heritage value, the potential for cache creation, and the representativeness of the heritage presented by the Geopark. As a result, Geocaching was revitalized and expanded in the Quarta Colônia Geopark, establishing itself as a potential geoeducational tool to be used in the territory. This revitalization and expansion occurred mainly through the creation of 10 new caches and extensive maintenance on the 11 previously existing caches.
