1Weaving Cross-border Networks in Early Modern Iberia
    Inês Olaia,Ana Maria S. A. Rodrigues

The act of giving rewards and gifts creates connections between individuals. Through the analysis of Queen Maria of Castile and Aragon’s gift-giving, we aim to understand how she constructed networks around her, reflecting on changes that reveal the strengthening of her position at court. The queen used her economic power to connect with the nobility, encompassing her birth and marriage territories, while stretching her reach to her natal family’s attendants. Maria further utilised her gifts to portray an image of a merciful and pious ruler who assisted members of the political community in her new realm in various circumstances.

2MAPPING NETWORKS OF QUEENSHIP AND GOVERNANCE IN LATE MEDIEVAL IBERIA:
    Lledó Ruiz Domingo

This paper examines Queen Violant of Bar’s exercise of relational power in 1387 by analysing her correspondence through Social Network Analysis. Combining close reading with computational modelling, it reconstructs the relational structures that shaped governance within the Crown of Aragon. The article shows how the queen’s letters created bridges between administrative, ecclesiastical, fiscal, and territorial actors, revealing patterns of mediation, negotiation, and political intervention. By interpreting epistolary traces as relational data, the study argues that queenly power operated through dynamic networks rather than static privileges, and demonstrates how digital methods refine medieval political analysis.

3“Muger Bien Fermosa É Del Linaje Del Rey De Francia De La Flor De Lis”. Blanca De Borbón Y Su Casa: Oficiales, Redes Curiales Y Representación Del Poder Real En La Castilla De Mediados Del Siglo XIV (1353-1361)

4Al Servicio De La Reina: Hombres De Negocios Y Mercaderes En El Señorío Siciliano De Isabel De Castilla
    Martina Del Popolo
