One hundred and twenty three-way cross piglets weaned at 21 d with initial average weight 5.64±0.46 kg were selected in the experiment.The piglets were fed with the following diets for 14 days:1)NC(Control diet without antibiotics),2)PC(Control diet+Antibiotics),and 3)E group(Control diet+5% Inulin+0.1% Acanthopanax senticosus(AS)extract).Effects of diets supplement with Inulin and AS extract on growth performance,serum biochemical parameters,antioxidant function,and intestinal morphology were observed.The results showed that,ADG of E group were significantly improved(P0.05)and ratio of feed and growth(F/G)were significantly decreased(P0.05)compared to the NC,while no significant difference were observed in ADFI(P0.05).There were no significant differences in serum GLU,LDL,LDH and BUN between NC and E group(P0.05),while on 14 d,ALP,SOD and GSH were significantly improved(P0.05).Compared to the NC,Crypt depth of duodenum and ileum and villus height of jejunum and ileum of E group were significantly improved(P0.05).This study demonstrated that supplement with compound of Inulin and AS extract had important functions on growth performance and digestion of small intestine of early-weaned piglets.
This study was conducted to investigate the effect of Acanthopanax senticosus extract (ASE) on the growth performance and antioxidant capacity of weaned piglets.Dried AS herb was decocted in boiling distilled water (200 g/L) for 2 h.The decoction products were filtered and lypholized.The yield of extract was about 25% (w/w),with total polysaccharides,flavone and organic acids 2.94,0.19 and 1.04%,respectively.Ninety-six Duroc×Landrace×Yorkshire piglets weaned at 21 days of age (BW=5.64±0.48 kg) were randomly assigned to one of 3 treatments with 4 replicates each and fed a basal diet (BD),BD+ASE (1 g/kg),and BD+antibiotics (10% bacitracin zinc 400 mg+15% carbadox 300 mg) for 14 days.Blood samples were collected on d 7 and 14.ADG in the ASE group (216.80 g/d) and antibiotics group (231.38 g/d) were 16.81 (P0.05) and 24.66% (P0.05) higher than the control group,and gain-feed ratio was improved by 18.18 and 21.39% (P0.05),respectively.However,there was no difference in growth performance between the ASE and antibiotic group (P0.05).Compared to the control group,both ASE and antibiotics increased Cu-Zn superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity on d 7 and 14 (P0.05).SOD activity decreased from 147.96±15.88 to 125.68±14.26 in the antibiotics group (P0.05),while increased in the ASE group (from 132.37±7.64 to 135.44±12.68).Malondialdehyde in the ASE group significantly decreased by 20.00 and 30.46% (P0.05) on d 7 and 14,respectively.Glutathione also had an increasing trend in the ASE group on d 7 and 14 (P=0.235 and 0.211,respectively).In addition,ASE influenced serum IgG on d 14 (P0.05).These findings indicated that ASE could alleviate weaning stress by improving antioxidant enzymatic system effectively in piglets.

Four different β-chains and two different α-chains from the red drum Sciaenops ocellatus were detected by acidic urea polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis(AUT-PAGE).The entire open reading frame of the red drum α-globin gene was 435 bp and codified 144 amino acid residues.The α-globin had a unique inserted amino acid residue in the 47th position,which was only found in yellowtail and large yellow croaker α-globin.The entire open reading frame of the β1-globin gene was 447 bp long and codified 148 amino acid residues.The globin genes showed the typical two-introns/three-exons organization found in vertebrates.A Thymine-Thymine-Adenine(TTA) repeat sequence was in the first intron of the β2-globin gene.The insertion may change the function of the intron.
To investigate effects of nutrition levels and galacto-mannan-oligosacharrides(GMOS) on milk yields,milk conventional ingredients and hormones in milk of sowt,wenty-four lactating,having near expected date of birtht,hree~ four parity sows(Landrace×Yordshire) were randomly divided into four groups and fed with high nutrition level diet added GMOS(HL+GMOS),high nutrition level diet without GMOS(HL),low nutrition level diet added GMOS(CL+GMOS)l,ow nutrition level diet without GMOS(CL)r,espectively.Each group was managed in the same way.The results showed that:Compared with the groups without GMOS,dietary supplementation with GMOS could significantly increase the levels of IL-6,CORT and GH in milk(P0.05),elevate milk yields(P=0.07)and the content of lactoprotein(P=0.06)in milk.Compared with the groups with the low nutrition level,the dietary of the high nutrition level could significantly increase milk protein(P0.05).
This experiment was conducted to study the effects of acanthopanax senticosus (AS) extracts as dietary additive on digestion and absorption of protein or amino acids in weaned piglets. Sixty three-way crossbred piglets weaned at 21 days of age were randomly assigned to 3 treatment groups, representing supplementation with 0 or 1g/kg of AS extracts, or 0.2g/kg of colistin to maize- and soybean meal-based diets (n=20 per group). Blood samples of 5 piglets per group were randomly collected on days 7, 14 and 28 after initiation of the addition to determine serum contents of free amino acids, then digesta at terminal ileum was collected to analyze the contents of amino acids after the sampled piglets were sacrificed. The results showed that the serum contents of amino acids in the extracts-supplemented group were gradually increased and digesta amino acid contents were gradually reduced at the same time as the experiment proceeds when compared with the other 2 groups. These findings indicated that the AS extracts could enhance the ability of digestion and absorption of protein or amino acids, then improve the growth performance in weaned piglets.
